“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” — Elrond
She fought doggedly on, blind ghouls falling to her blade and thurible, rearing away from the incense. Behind her, where the ghosts stand at attention no ghouls pass, they are coming instead over the walls away from the reconsecrated section, a veritable small army. Now? While we fight? I am Rhianne, Cleric of the Raven Queen. She says and returns to the fight
Vaelar cut deep into the ghoul its head rolls onto the floor. One less to worry about.
In the mist beyond the wall a tall man can be seen, he is dressed in red and has a black cloak, his hand is raised summoning more undead.
Ireena moves up to the ghostly priest and draws her sword to catch one of the Ghouls (attack 17, damage 9), she gets into a rhythm with the fight, Ravens blind the ghouls, she sinks her rapier into their necks and the priest kills them with his flaming sword.
You see a gesture that the man makes and all ghouls near Ireena move away.
Donavich swipes towards Lorelei with his fingernails but they do not pierce her armour. For a moment he starts laughing maniacally then he folds over himself and takes a last breath. It would be wise to take off his head.
Once more you hear a voice echo through the chapel, Father, please father feed me, I'm starving!
You also hear the noise of battle outside, and can see a bright red light through the windows. You hear the screeching of angry ravens above your head on the roof.
A cleric of the Raven Queen... Vaelar had not expected that, but he held any further questions and focused instead on the fight. He slashed with both of his blades at another ghoul, watching closely with surprise as the ghouls slunk back away from Ireena, seemingly at the command of the man in the distance.
With the ghastly priest all but done, Illmirth takes a quick survey of the scene. "Vaelar?" he calls out. He hears no reply from the man, but his attention is split by a cry for help within the chapel and a ruckus outside. He looks torn, hesitating for a moment before, "More trouble outside. Vaelar will need us if there are more like this one outside." Thinking that the poor priest's son probably won't starve to death in the next five minutes, but some undead may overeat if they don't go outside quickly, the drow shakes off another wave of nausea. That decided for him, the stench of this place was just too much. He took off, running for the door, looking for Vaelar.

“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” — Elrond
The ghoul fighting Vaelar stumbles and falls as head is removed from body. Another squeezed into the gap his eyes fastened on Vaelar. The ghouls continued to shy away from Ireena
Illmirth raced outside and takes a breath of clean air, he follows the sound of steel on bone around to the right hand side of the chapel where the entrance to the Cemetery is.
He sees ghosts, over 50 of them all standing with a Morning lord pendant glowing even brighter than they themselves look, standing at attention next to the graves. He can hear fighting ahead but can't yet see them. The ground is thick with beheaded undead, some of the ravens feasting on their eyes.
His red eyed Raven flies down to run next to him, Help Cleric?
Turning the corner you see a group of ghouls fighting ahead, fingernails screeching across plate armour. Strangely none of them are attacking Ireena even if she attacks them. A ghostly priest of the Morning Lord slashes with his magical fiery sword and holding out his pendant to burn the ghouls stupid enough to get near the back of a short female cleric. Vaelar is right in the middle of it fighting hard so that the cleric can continue to cleanse the graveyard.
"Holy shit," was all he could say. In the initial half second that it took for him so see what was happening, a pack of ghouls threatening to overrun Vaelar and a capable looking woman, Ireena hacking away with abandon, more undead coming over the wall, a ghost fighting with them, and a gaggle of ghosts standing next to graves, holy shit seemed appropriate.
He was was stuck in no-mans-land. He needed to jump in, like now if not a few minutes ago, but the rest of the party needed to be alerted to this new development, like now if not a few minutes ago. "Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit," he said in Elvish, the beauty of the language sounded odd in a swearing tirade, but Illmirth made it flow like poetry.
This is a terrible idea he thought, but it would kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. Before he could lose his nerve, he filled his lungs with air, belted out a few words, and ran straight at the wall where the ghouls were still coming in. He sang his heart out with every step, leaping high into the air he cried out, "You've been, THUNDERSTRUCK!"
Illmirth's song
I was caught in the middle of an undead pack (thunder) I look 'round and I knew there was no turning back (thunder) My mind raced, and I thought what could I do (thunder) And then I knew, knew just what to do (thunder) Tymora bless me, I need some luck; You've been thunderstruck!
He timed the release of the spell with his landing. He put himself directly in harms way, getting right up in their disgusting faces. A tremendous boom of arcane energy channeled into a thunderous clap originating from Illmirth rang out, the force of the sonic energy slamming into the nearest ghouls.
As the echo rings out, Illmirth risks a glance towards Vaelar with a smile that had no place in such dire circumstances. "Are you not inspired?!? Fight on Vaelar the Valiant, may your blades strike true!"

The mob of Ghouls leaping over the wall are driven back by Illmirths song, and he can hear a whimpering from them as they land in a disarray , arms and legs bleeding from the Thunderwave, running away from his friends. A nearby ghoul already injured heads straight to Illmirth, a raven flies to scratch out the ghouls eyes. Illmirth: ghoul 5 is hit by a quick kick, 7 bludgeoning damage
Illmirths eyes are caught by the necromancer, he remembered the spell story of Stanimir and his cursed Lord. It was the same man, the horde was being controlled by Strahd!
They are near to becoming overrun. Rhianne stands still momentarily and then swings her incense burner in their faces and casts turn undead. The ghouls in front of them scream and break away running as the tendrils from the incense touch their faces and burn them causing 4 radiant damage. Ghoul 1 falls down scorched to death.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lorelei Dawnwarden
The young priestess with the blonde braided hair does not hesitate now, raising her radiant blade once more to take the corrupted priest's head clean off with a swift strike, then rushing after the drow to find out what was happening in the graveyard.
Lorelei briefly stops in her tracks as she takes in the chaotic scene before her, a fierce battle with the ravenous packs of ghouls. She quickly strides into the fray, rasing her radiant shield and blade, calling out to the Dawnfather to cleanse this once holy place of the undead corruption, a flash of divine light engulfing the graveyard to burn away the servants of the vampire lord. "BEGONE FOUL CREATURES OF DARKNESS!"
(Radiance of dawn, all enemies within 30-ft.takes radiant 16 DC 15 Con for half.)
As the ghoulish priest is felled, Crisaryn again hears the voice calling from below. But as she also becomes aware of the noise outside, she follows her companions as they head outside. The scene is chaotic, but she tries to take in all that is happening - ghouls, Vaelar, Ireena, an unknown woman, and all the ravens. With so many undead, she makes a decision. Grasping the crystal about her neck, she makes a motion with her other as she incants arcane words. Bringing her palm to her chest she casts [Tooltip Not Found] on herself. Then moving towards the enemy, she releases her Fire Breath in a 15 ft cone ahead of her. (DEX Save DC 14 for each creature in range, 12 fire damage to each)
Lorelei casts radiance of dawn and the ghoul (No 5) next to Illmirth screams as it catches fire from the radiant damage. The other ghouls currently in the graveyard having been turned by Rhianne, also start patting madly at themselves to stop the radiant damage from incinerating them as well.
Crisaryn breaths fire at the group of ghouls trying to clamber over the walls again, they char and then burn screaming, they try to run away (Ghouls 6-9) back over the wall.
They watch the necromancer as he gestures again and the mist rises to obscure him.
True dawn has arrived yet the ghouls continue to attack.
Rhianne continues to raise the ghosts of the graveyard calling it back to being a sanctuary, her red light flowing across the cemetery slowly as she reconsecrates the ground itself by walking it. You can all smell her incense, it is used to cleanse away evil and the undead. Frankincense. Her sword pommel a seal of the Raven Queen, glowing with blue light as it is pressed into stone walls and gravestones.
Illmirth watches the ghouls fall under blade, flame, and radiant energy. The pack seems to break around Ireena, like a river runs around a boulder. This is vexing, until he sees the Dark Lord of this grim land. The man himself, Strahd, is calling the plays in this macabre game. Of course, he is enjoying the show, but doesn't want his prize damaged. I wonder if he knows... the bard thoughts, thinking of Ireena's cleansing with holy water. Before he could complete his pondering the mists seemed to be pulled towards the Vampyr, obscuring him from vision. Ah, crafty, crafty; using the mists to block the damaging sun, he thought.
Turning his focus back to the enemy within reach, Illmirth surveyed the battlefield, looking for the largest group of undead, or the ally most in need of aid.
