He peered through the steam, looking for a spot where he could soak and hear a few conversations. He sighs deeply as his body eases into the hot water, kicks back, and closes his eyes. He looks perfectly at peace, but remains vigilant in his listening. He hopes to overhear a name that rings a bell for the investigation or anything about spices.

Krakan waits to see if Uncle Basim walks them to the appropriate area, if he gets an opportunity, he sneaks a look inside the box where customer names were recorded, looking quickly for anything around the time when Malik visited the bathhouse, who he may have come with, or any recognizable names or designations around that time. He moves very quickly, gauging time in his mind, closing the box and going back to consider the menu before Basim returns to the room.

Uncle Basim fills out a parchment slip for Lucan as he did the same for Salty and Samir. Afterwards he puts it in the box. Then he briefly moves away telling Lucan "After the changing room please follow Bilal and he will see to your needs"
In the warm, steamy atmosphere of the bathhouse, a diligent attendant named Bilal gently guides Lucan through the ritual cleansing and relaxation. With practiced hands, Bilal scrubs Lucan's back with a traditional kese mitt, exfoliating away the day's cares. He works meticulously, ensuring every motion is soothing yet invigorating, his touch firm yet gentle.
As Bilal massages Lucan's feet, he occasionally asks about the pressure, adjusting his technique to ensure comfort. The scent of olive oil soap mixes with the steam, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and rejuvenation. Soft lanterns cast gentle shadows, adding to the serene ambiance of the bathhouse.
The tanned Sailor responds to Salty "Try being at sea for weeks on end. I enjoy my job, but no bath and the best you can get is wiping yourself down with a wet rag. Lets just say by the time I made land I was one crusty sailor if you catch my meaning." He lets out a content sigh. "This is what I needed"
Krakan is pacing as Uncle Basim arrives back in the room. He says with many hand gestures and deliberation, “I have decided. I was thinking of what would be best for my muscles, to further hone my body, my senses. I think I would like a steam bath and some aromatherapy, please good sir!” He gives Basim a deep smile and a half bow, ready to begin.

"Excellent choice. After the changing room please follow Todros" says Uncle Basim as he fills out the parchment slip for Kraken and takes payment 8 sp
Todros takes Kraken to Room 6. The room is separated into a steam bath chamber and an area with a comfortable table for patrons to lie on for different options listed in the sign in front. The steam chamber is a humid domed chamber with star shaped vents filled with the light scent of eucalyptus - Fresh, sharp, and minty. You sit on a stone bench as a length of pipe that leads to a vent releases steam into the room. The floor feels warm under your bare feet. As you sit Todros periodically spritzes you with water. Once your muscles finally relax, Kraken is escorted to the table.
You lie face-down on a warm stone table, your skin still damp from the steam. From a nearby low wooden cabinet Todros takes out several oils. and once opened you smell lavender, sandalwood, and black cumin. Their fragrance deepening as it mingles with the heat of your skin. Each breath fills your lungs with scent and stillness. With every movement of the hands, knots loosen, and the day's burdens melt like wax. Fingers glide down your back, then knead your shoulders, then trace firm paths across the soles of your feet.
"Ah, my good friend Todros, this is amazing! Your fingers are rejuvenating my muscles, I feel stronger and more in tune! How long have you studied to be able to do this? Was there a particular schooling or was it training on the job? Forgive me, I am filled with curiosity like a child. Did you have a master to teach and train you, as I have had in my field? How many therapists are here, working with you?" Krakan doesn't spill all of this out at once, he does this back and forth, keeping a running conversation with Todros, putting him at ease and plying him for information.

Todros answers in a gentle soft tone lest he breaks your relaxation. "I came here as a young boy as an apprentice and learned on the job. For years I would clean floors, carry towels, and prepare the rooms. In the early mornings before we opened Uncle Basim and the head Tellak Munir would hold an informal class to teach us as we practiced on each other" he lets out a laugh remembering some failed test.
"There are 15 Tellak (Male Bathhouse Attendant), 12 Dalaka (Female Bathhouse Attendant), and 6 apprentices."
"Ne'r did get me sea legs," Salty laments softly. "Envy ye I do. Me heart is fer the sea, but me arse seems fer favorin' dry land." Salty continues to make small talk with the sailor, and then says, "Made me some coin, I did in the knuckle pits as a youngin'. Are ye havin' such contests here? Gold fer the makin' in'n out the ring, if ye know me meanin'."

"Tell me, dear Todros of the talented fingers, does each Tallak start to specialize in certain treatments? Such as some specializing in the clay mask or the foot treatment. This combination of the steam bath and the aromatherapy, are there certain Tallak besides you who specialize in these treatments? Is everyone of your skill? Or... surely you don't work every day... are there some days you take off, some Tallak who cover for you, work on the days you are resting? Such as, who works Tuesdays, Thursdays and who works Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, who on the weekends, how do you do it? This is making me consider these arts, for one who hones the body such as I, who crafts it and bends it to their will, such talents you have, very useful, I am seeing..I was just curious about how they work your schedule." Krakan keeps the conversation going, his curiosity driving the conversation.

You can earn even more coin fighting monsters in the pit, but I would not recommend it unless you're ready to face death. Many warriors go there to test their mettle. Now keep this quiet as its not strictly illegal though it is frowned upon."
Todros says "We work in shifts. There are the morning, afternoon, and evening shifts. Yes, we have specialists like me, and we have different days off. Monday for A shift, Tuesday for B shift, and Thursday for C shift. Uncle Basim takes care of the schedule. Perhaps you can ask him about who works on which days.
