Olgha studies Vadania for a moment, lips quirking in a humorless smile. “It’s possible you’re right. But Skeer strikes me as the type to play his enemies against each other...even his own minions. If these amulets aren’t his, then someone else is running a web just as tangled. Maybe the medallions serve a third hand, and we’ve only seen the surface.”
She taps the box with a gloved finger. “It could be a test of some kind. Maybe he was even trying to collect the amulets so we’d be manipulated by their power. Who knows what a fiend’s mind can concoct? It feels weird, but what doesn’t, lately?” Olgha gives a small, cold shrug. “Until we know for sure, I’m treating every one of these trinkets as if it bites.”
"That you are right to do so. I don't trust these amulets either. I do wonder if poor Grabador was an agent of Skeer before he was turned. Hm..." Vadania thinks for a bit and says, "Where did Grabador get his amulet from and who is Lohse? I feel if we can somehow retrace the magician's last steps, we may be able to find a clue."
Seeing the tension in the establishment ease up a bit, Engelheart figures what ever persuasive actions his companions used seems to be resolved. "Well kid, ever at have a drink at a bar? I imagine they must have something you can digest behind the bar somewhere." Engelheart starts to enter after holding the door open for Garil. He continues to have the floating flame about his palm as he walks.
Vorin rubs his chin. “It would only make sense to send us if he needed the amulets removed, but then why not come get them himself? There’s another party in all this making the killer jewelry, I’d say.”
You discover nothing in your searching of the room, but you do notice the room is strangely empty. There is nothing in the room besides the small table to the side of the room and the desk and chair in the center. As Vannithos looks through the desk, he finds 3 gold. Walking in, Engelheart sees the only person left is the bartender, looking over the spilled drinks and food leftover after all the commotion.
She is not, the bartender is a cleaner and much healthier looking woman, with clear skin and firey red hair. You can see no trace of the woman who led you to the room.
"Hm...no clues here," Vannithos observes as he pockets the coins, finding the emptiness of the room a bit suspicious, "A hidden compartment or the like?" He tries examining the walls and floor more carefully.
Vadania will use her wolf senses to see if she detects any unexpected smells in the room.
Perception: 12 (I'm going to assume this can't find anything)
Vadania, huffs. The stench of blood has overpowered any other smell. With nothing else immediately obvious in this place, she steps out and looks to see if that one person who was supposed to pay them if they had accepted Skeer's job was here or not.
As you step out of the room, you see the rest of the building has cleared, save the bartender. The air in the room has mostly cleared, and you can see just how disgusting the lounge really is. The tables and chairs are stained with some unidentifiable substance, and rats are fighting over bits of food left on the floor. You hear a voice call out to you from behind the bar. "AY! What 'a ya think you're doing in there scarin' all my bloody customers away?!"
Vorin walks over and very casually takes a seat at the bar. “Ma’am, are you aware there were undead in your back room? My compatriots and I have since dealt with it, but that really is the type of thing we need to be on top of as business owners.
But more importantly, has the man in the back room had any odd guests recently? We’re terribly concerned about all this.”
He’s trying to do a “good cop” tone and voice but is just slightly off the mark.
Engelheart walks up to the bar with the Garil on tow. "Well, how about a round on our mutual... acquaintance. Seems like business took a quick turn for you. And most employees aren't concerned with saving the bar itself when fire stars blazing and yet you are still here, so owner I'm guessing. And as an owner behind the bar, you would have an interest in who your regular customers are. So why would a you be so inclined to have such ... clientele."
