Tori’s descriptions are met with nods and some smiles maybe even a chuckle or two… as the evening closes it is with plans to gather wood and a second mission is discussed.
The next day the party is once again gathered this time to possibly locate and return with samples of rock and hopefully ore. It would be a great find to begin even a lite smelting and fabricating for brackets and other necessary metal parts and pieces.
This time the party is asked to travel nearly a week following the river but past the fork they followed to the woods. This time they will travel to a mountainous area collecting a variety of stones, looking for signs of ore.
Before departing, Magoo asks if there additional bags or a cart to bring back rocks. He will also check his supplies to make sure they are in working order and sufficient for the longer trip. He decides most are fine but asks for an extra ration or two in case they cannot find food in the mountains.
“Very good another mission to venture on, the elders must have been pleased with our results.” Krakel says to Magoo as he also packs rations for the trip. “This trip seems like it will be a good bit longer.”
(Is there a shop store we need to buy “rations” from. Or how do you want to work replenishment.)
“If we are getting rock samples we should also make sure someone has a pick axe and shovel. I’d be happy to carry tools, but I haven’t had any experience mining or prospecting.”
Lyra responds, "Likewise. I am more in tune with nature than rocks."
{Is that a week each way, or round trip? Can we replenish supplies (arrows and rations) while back at the ship? Can we increase the rations we're carrying?}

Yes you may stock up at the ship. A week each way will give you a few days to explore so total time 14 days.
So we should each stock up on a bit more than 2 weeks of rations, just in case things take longer than expected. Water should be fine since we're following a stream.

“That’s a solid plan, I grabbed a shovel and pick from the ship supplies so we have them with us too.”
