Draguer have for the most part sworn loyalty to the Dragon King. Acting as his best enforcers they have been given control over all but the hardest to take Dwarf fortress or the hardest to find. They commonly find ranks in the Disfavored for night raids or act as the night patrols for the larger cities of the empire.
The Drow/Dark Elves: These evil creatures of the underground have been split into two factions due to the Ulthane’s actions. Those who serve him and those that still serve the Spider Queen. After long negotiations with male drow, he was able to convince them to join him on the surface and serve mostly as his rangers. These drow intermingled with native populations of elves giving rise to the Dark Elves who now walk between these two races as an intermediary and loyally serve as rangers and scouts for his armies. This has caused great strife in the underground where the drow matriarchs see both the Spider Queen and their own power undermined by the fair treatment of the dark elves on the surface.
Humans: The most versatile of the species of the Empire. Centuries of rule from the Dragon’s Keep has resulted in more humans apathetic to the evil that rules them now due to a feeling of “That is how it always has been” But some others have loyalty, or at least display it, to gain favor and power, as to effectively rule the King has always used locals as governors in his stead to maintain peace.
Orcs: Like the drow, they have been found is service both for and against the Dragon King. Bribes of treasures, women, and promises ensured in the early years to decimate the population of the barbarians, now only in the few thousands survive they serve most often as shock troops to the Crimson Guard. Those that still fight against him seek refuge in the former dwarf homes of the North. Pitched battles to control the fortress to protect the Orc tribes from the Sons of Ulthan
Halflings: The nomads of the world. They travel in expanded families in caravans across the Empire. They seek just to get along, so they follow laws and rules to the letter on the surface. Having all the necessary paperwork for travel, paying fees. Though not totally giving up on their thieving ways as it always seems that a short spring of robberies follow these caravans but without enough evidence to the culprit, they seem to get away with it.
Sons of Ulthan: The children of Ulthan vary in age yet none has crossed into Ancient yet. These dragons serve their Father on the front lines as a measure of last resort, though the last time they were truly needed has come and gone. Now they serve as enforcers ensuring the Eastern lands maintain the new peace, but they can still be found scattered across the empire.
The Disfavored: The sharpest blade of the frontlines, battling the enemies of their King. These troops are conscripted from the age of 3 as from a replacement for taxes in some cases or required from new territories to refill their ranks. The training is grueling and only about 50% will be fit enough to serve in the legion. Those who fail have either died of exhaustion or been found only able to serve as guards in the cities of the Empire. They have some of the best morale ever seen on the battlefield with unmatched discipline. They claim at the battle of Westlock in 267 the men of the Disfavored fought and died to the last man rather than surrender.
Crimson Guard: Where the Disfavored are a fine sword honed over years, of blades sharpened by years of practice the Crimson Guard is a butcher's cleaver. With every victory in their name their numbers swell, peasants armed with knives and simple tools are thrown into the next assault, most new recruits die in their first assault. But those who survive the fires of battle are stronger, the fire of war purges weakness, only the furious and the lucky remain in their ranks long.
