The story will begin in the frontier town of Knockon Wood, a town famous for its adventure tourism and its world class tavern and inn known as “ The Flatulent Marionette “. The adventure season has drawn to a close and there are just a few folks still lingering, preparing to leave before the winter strikes and the mountain passes become, well unpassable.
the two in the party currently spent Halloween night in the tavern, eating, drinking and regaling all with stories if the season’s adventures. Near the end if the night, a strange, drunken and fat elf mentions a mysterious rumor that the people that have thus far left the town have in fact gone missing and that the trouble might be related to a local Farm or the western fork in the road, the main way out. The weather is due to turn any day and the first snow will seal the passes for the year, trapping anyone left in the town for the entire winter. The primary mission is to pack up and leave before the storm and discover if the missing people is true or just a imagined conspiracy of a drunk elf.
character rules are simple. 2014 preferred, start at lvl3 roll d20 than x20 for your starting gold. No multiclass or weird offbrand classes. Roll your stats here drop 1’s and take what you get, no matter how bad you think it is. Build your character around and perceived disabilities due to your rolls. Remedies for truly awful stats can be arranged in game.
You originally mentioned that this game is a one-shot. Is that still the plan? A play-by-post one-shot is still probably going to run a few months in the forums, but it does have an impact on the expected commitment.
Tempting, but I'm playing in 5 games, which is probably too much. I can never be sure whether my games will slow down or speed up over the holidays, but if they slow down, I could definitely jump in for a short game.
Thanks, @Dwar_farquar, I actually created both a Rogue (Scout) and a Warlock (Celestial) with those stats, but my other games look like they're heating back up, and you seem to have found more players. I think that I'll bow out here so that I don't end up with more games than I can handle.
Gan, has grown up on the streets always looking out for himself. He keeps his mouth moving so you don't notice his hand in your pocket. Being a little guy with no family, he's always a bit on edge and a bit nervous about everything even storms. But for some reason storms like him. Despite being so short, lightning has a way of reaching for the sky around him. So much so that there have been accidents. A gang of toughs ended up hit by lightning when they jumped Gan. A city watchmen got the same treatment. All of this got him the notice of a small Temple of Kord. An old priest, who Gan was immediately suspicious of worked to gain Gan's trust and teach him of his gift and Kord's power. Gan is still scared of storms but loves the fact he's not a push over anymore. He thinks he might be able to go places in this world now. Though missing his scheduled ride out of Knockon Wood was not part of his plans. And now stories of missing people? This was not somewhere he wanted to be stuck for the winter.
((I'll do up a character sheet shortly, but wanted to ask about the rolled starting gold - is that in addition to starting equipment or in replacement of? If it's replacement, looks like Gan managed to show up in Knockon Wood broke as well))
Need 2 or 3 characters to fill the party.

Yes, the goal is for short term situation.

Rolling here in case I decide to join.

Trying again.
Ability scores: 9 13 14 7 15 9
Heh. It looks like my edit did eventually trigger the dice roller on the first post, but I could probably make that second set of rolls work too.
I have a ranged combat rogue (scout) I could use. Or maybe I could build a spellcaster to bring some magic to the party.
Either should work well

Good luck to everyone in the Knockon Wood!
I like the classic adventure hook - a tavern and a mystery.

Rolled gold is in addition as it would account for your season of adventure in the area.
Thanks a bunch.
