A wrought-iron gate with hinges on one side and a lock on the other fills the archway of a stone portico. The gate is unlocked, and its rusty hinges shriek when the gate is opened. Oil lamps hang from the portico ceiling by chains, flanking a set of oaken doors that open into a grand foyer.
Hanging on the south wall of the foyer is a shield emblazoned with a coat-of-arms (a stylized golden windmill on a red field), flanked by framed portraits of stony-faced aristocrats. Mahogany-framed double doors leading from the foyer to the main hall are set with panes of stained glass
Nathaniel goes over to inspect the coat of arms, keeping an eye out for the parents or a monster in here in case the kids were telling the truth about either of them.
”Looks like whoever lived here was doing pretty well for themselves if they’ve got their own coat of arms!”
“I concur. We should find this Indirovich chap and ask him about the letter. Surely there is someone in town we can ask. Shall we split up and explore?”
""I wouldn't separate the party. I mean, we have illusions or ghosts when we first got here, what else is out there?"
A wide hall runs the width of the house, with a black marble fireplace at one end and a sweeping, red marble staircase at the other. Mounted on the wall above the fireplace is a longsword with a windmill cameo worked into the hilt. The wood-paneled walls are ornately sculpted with images of vines, flowers, nymphs, and satyrs. (Nathanial, and Victoria see see serpents and skulls inconspicuously woven into the wall designs.) The decorative paneling follows the staircase as it circles upward to the second floor.
A cloakroom (area 2B) has several black cloaks hanging from hooks on the walls. A top hat sits on a high shelf
"Does anyone else see the snakes & skulls in the wall designs? And we should probably wait till we've cleared the place before we touch any of the clothes or swords.." Victoria muses as she enters.

“I agree, these patterns are concerning and we should really try to figure out if any threats are here.” Nathaniel says calmly but nervously with all the possible threats and being lured here by the “children”.
((Wishing you a speedy recovery! ❤️🩹 ))
I apologize for the delay in posting. Besides dealing with illness I had to go out of town to help with my aging parents.
(Life is busy and this is a game. Take care of yourself and your loved ones and then come back here when you have time for fun again.)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Right back at you! Not sure if we are continuing the story assuming we went inside. Seems like that’s the case based on previous DM post.
Happy black Friday since I missed thanksgiving.

What do you guys think of resolving combat encounters in real time using DDB maps?
I don’t think we will be able to coordinate real time combat in pbp

Nathaniel moves (I moved my map token) toward the closet and opens it up, inspecting the contents and hoping to learn more about the inhabitants.
Nathanial opens the door to reveal a cloakroom that has several black cloaks hanging from hooks on the walls. A top hat sits on a high shelf.
Nathaniel removes the coats and hat, while examine each, then checks the closet to make sure it’s empty.
(Nathanial) Make a Perception Check (Investigation DC 21).
(Wasn’t sure which you wanted so I rolled both)
Perception check: 4+6 = 10
Investigation check Nat 20 + 3 = 23
