“That’s right, I received them from where.” The tiefling nods.

 "Hmm, thank you. I was expecting a simple 'Yes.' Do you know how to find them." She replies.

“Probably. The plan was to lay low until you three arrived at the prison, then we’d leave as the lockdown was lifted. Didn’t really work out that way. Thanks for that.”

 "You didn't pick your disguises very wisely. Is Where a man?" She asks, not to for the clear response, but for the clarity of the questions.

The tiefling thinks for a moment, “I take offense to that. My disguise of you was pretty spot on. Secondly, define ‘man.’”

 "Too complicated. What's your name?" Dahme'dre asks, then  "Is Where a male?" 

She asks to what location they would have left to, if they'd chosen to take our faces in advance, and why. She asks what the Tiefling gains from the assassination and if Where will miss her after her disappearance. She doesn't answer any questions directed to her, just rephrases the same questions instead.

(I want to let anyone else pipe in if they have anything to ask that I didn't, before the time is lost, but Dahme'dre acts like we can do this all night.)

She counts the questions on her fingers, “Yep, you guessed it. Can’t really say? Ship. Told to, as for why your guess is as good as mine. Lots of cash. I like to think that he would.”

While this exchange has been going on, Wick has been controlling his breathing, gripping the edge of the desk, and moving his lips silently. He wouldn't have thought of himself as a dishonest person before today, but the task of crafting even a simple honest question is nearly beyond him.

"You seem very calm and helpful. I am worried that is because you believe you have nothing to fear in answering these questions. Do you have help on the way?"

(If the answer is no:)

"Tell us what you know about the Port Masons"

(if she is evasive, or the answer is yes)

"She has confessed to this crime. We should take her to the constabulary for questioning. I will stand as witness to your defense unless I change my mind and skip town." Wick begins sweating again. "But we should leave. Now. I don't want to die for someone else's cloak and dagger mystery."

"Do you know the whereabouts of the other assassins? Could you lead us to them? And if so, do we have to force you to lead us there?" Alijurns face is stern and his eyes focused on the tieflings own. 

(Intended to ask questions in turn, silly.)

The tiefling shrugs toward Ellywick, “Nah, just been through this type of thing.” However, her gaze becomes more focused as she addresses the rest of you, “Listen, you all seem like half-decent people, so I’m going to give you a warning, not a threat, a warning. Me and my family are freelancers by trade, but these people? They got in touch with just about the highest head of the totem pole to get us to do this thing. They paid us a lot of money. They didn’t give us any details, no reason why. They just told us to kill a certain someone while we looked like you. If you want my honest opinion, I don’t think they did it for any other reason than to grab attention. And the Port Masons? Yeah, they’re connected somehow. They seem like an average two-bit gang, but somehow, they’ve got funding, plans, and influence. We didn’t interact much, but they were who Where was conversing with before we took the job. I think they might be some kind of proxy. I say all this to say, whatever’s happening runs deep. You all should take a page out of our book, change your face, lay low, and never talk about this again.”

Ellywick managed to maintain his silence when the human entered through the window. This latest exchange completed, though, he addresses the tiefling with another helpless outburst of truth,"You are competent and intelligent and in other circumstances I would write a song about- GAH!" he stops himself with a sharp shake of his head. "Okay. Okay, now it's time for the three of you. Madam," he says, turning to Dah'medre, "I am Wick of the Stumbleduck gnomes- I do not believe that our meeting tonight is by chance. Can any of you think as to why you have been targeted in this consipracy?"

(Roll to see if if Wick has heard of Where before- History (current events?): 3)

You have never heard of anyone named Where, which isn’t really surprising. However, her story regarding the Port Mason’s influx in power fits with the story of them that you’ve been told.

Alijurn turns to Ellywick. "You're too tangled up in this web like us now, you know. I have no idea why someone would frame me, except for those i fired kicked out of the force for being undisciplined. But framed for murder of a public official sounds a bit over the edge for that. What I'm thinking is we are just random scapegoats. Now.." The muscular dragonborn turns to the tiefling. "Two more questions. Would the rest of your family know more about the framing than you? and.. Will you run and tell on us when the spell fades? Or do we have to.. silence you by other means?" 

“Where would likely know the most out of the three of us. Of course, I am your only way of finding them. Without me, they’ll vanish into the wind. So unfortunately for you, I don’t see your plan working.” The tiefling raises an eyebrow.

At this, Ellywick becomes pensive, his brow furrowed in thought. After What finishes speaking, he stands on the desk and shoulders his lute. "You know, you're absolutely right, master dragonborn. To be perfectly frank, I assumed that this tiefling was in the right of your little tiff out there. I assumed by your ongoing grip on her person that you were just another arrogant male out for more than his fair share. Well, let no one say that Wick Stumbleduck can't admit his mistakes. As much as I would like to accompany you all tonight, I am going back to the bar to reclaim my drink." He bows deeply to the party, to the assassin. "Master spellsmiths... Lady What: Try not to kill one another until we meet again."

And with that, he hops off the desk and out the door to the bar. 

"I don't expect that's the last we'll see of him." Dahme'dre remarks, probably not before Wick is too far to hear.

What nods, “I thought I’d be rid of you people, but that didn’t happen. The world’s a funny place like that. Speaking of never seeing each other again, how about the three of you let me go now and we call it a day, eh? Sounds like a plan, right?”

A few minutes later, Wick is entertaining his small circle of friends again, apparently unconcerned with the goings-on in the storage closet. 

 "As you suggested, Darling, we're going to need you to take us to Where."
