Pagan's smile emerges from the pitch black followed by the rest of him. For just an instant all you see is white teeth and jade-green Dragon eyes. He slips the dart back in his belt and retrieves his torch. "Yes, let's open the door."
Can Brumdal and Markas's combined strength open the door by pushing instead of smashing? Or is it stuck? Or maybe we want the element of surprise?
Markas will tell the party that he heard what sounded like cheering from behind the door. He still wants to proceed. It will probably be a fight either way.

The door is stuck. Whoever tries to open it needs to make a Strength check vs. DC 13 or 14 (I need to check the DC.) Someone can help with the door, which would give advantage to the person making the check.
Since Brumdal has the highest Strength score he should make the check, but anyone else could help to give him advantage on the roll.
If the door were barred, your Strength check would automatically fail and you would have to destroy the door. (It has an AC and hit points.)
You normally wouldn’t know whether the door was barred or stuck without first trying to “unstick” it. I’m just throwing you a bone because ...
"Perhaps we should take care of the Goblins behind us first before springing this trap door," says Pagan, "Master Sooki teaches that a war on two fronts is a foolhardy endeavor."
Markas thinks if the door is so hard to open, we can have it at our backs and the new Goblins shouldn't be a threat. Unless they have another Ogre that is.
But if there's a bunch on the other side, we may not have a chance to close the door again.
He changes his mind and decides we should do our best to eliminate the threat on this side of the door first.
He announces to the party: "If we want to confront the Goblins we know, we should get back to the room before we end up trapped on these stairs."
Salty_Hasenpfeffer is travelling this week, so he might be slow to post. Because of that I’ll play Brumdal in Salty’s absence. He can jump back in whenever he’s ready.
Brumdal agrees to return to the previous room and engage the goblins. He also reminds the party that the ogre must have some loot, and we’ll be likely to be able to find it back the way we came.
You are not sure if the goblins pinpointed your location or not, but they probably know these caves better than you do, so they know the places you could've gone.
With that said, you do not see or hear any goblins yet.
Zerys will ready shield and scimitar She'll move along the south wall at a normal pace. If she sees goblins in rage she'll hurl flames. Her ideal position is to be at top the first set of stairs we saw from the original room.
Zerys could make it to any position at the top of the stairs with 5 feet of movement to spare. I’ll assume she goes to the back corner to make room for the others.
She doesn’t spot any goblins, but uses the ready action to hold her spell attack for when one does appear before her next turn.
Markas will head down the stairs, bow readied, and get as far into the room as possible, if he see's any goblins he'll let an arrow fly at the closest target. He would preferably make his way behind the hole and table to keep his targets at a distance.
When I think of it, the best any of you will do movement-wise is to get to the top of the stairs or just passed it. You could get down the stairs, but you would have to dash, which means you wouldn’t get another action for attacking. You could all use the ready action like Zerys and use your ranged attack when a goblin shows its ugly face.
More info: I posted everyone’s speed with the initiative order. That tells you how many feet you can move per round normally. When you dash you double that. Each square on the map’s grid is 5 ft.

Okay ... I assume you want to go back to your usual marching order and Brumdal, who has the highest Strength, will smash the door open....
Any objections?

Zerys is all for smashing a few more Goblins as prudent course of action. Then opening the door.
Amar is full of confidence and doesn't see the new goblins as an issue. Thus is willing to help push the door open now.

Amar grudgingly agrees to go smite goblins
Zerys is unmoved by more slaughter
Markus will take point with Brumdal, but have his bow out to start.

The big red question mark represents the furthest you could see down that passageway; you never went down it.

Zerys, you are up. What would you like to do?

Pagan will follow suit with Markas- moving as far into the room below as possible with a dart at the ready for dealing with any pesky Goblins.
