"I say we leave the Orc for the Hobgoblins' dinner," Pagan interrupts. He looks at the Gnoll. "And the dog-man too. The Hobs will be hungry after the thumping we gave them... and these ones can only be trusted to stab us in our backs."
"Master Sooki teaches that a rattlesnake will poison you, no matter how much kindness you show it."
Zerys approaches the gnoll and attempts to see if they share a common language.
Amar will try again in goblin
The gnoll repeatedly looks back and forth between Zerys and Amar. When he looks at Zerys, his eyes seem menanacing and he shows his teeth. When he looks at Amar, his eyes seem bewildered and his face has the look of a dog trying to understand his owner's commands.

The gnoll has no reaction to this, but the orc pauses while checking the weight of tongs in one hand and a poker in another. "Huh?" he growls and stares with great uncertainty at the exotic dragonborn and then looks around for validation to the others in the room.
Amar nods, "Sooki may be right, Varash do you have any insights?" Amar no longer fearing the gnoll closely examines him. Is there evidence of him being restrained? Perhaps magically..

The gnoll does not seem to be restrained magically. He's only restrained by the chains and manacles. Your difficulty in communicating with him is you don't understand each other's languages.
He's friendly to you--but only you--because of the spell. You could try to persuade him to play nice with the others, but you would have to do this with non-verbal communication.
The orc (who's name is Vrutha) looks confused about who Varash is (he'll chalk it up to autocorrect). He starts to back uneasily toward the exit barefoot with the poker and tongs in his hands. Pagan has clearly shaken his confidence that the party has his best interests at heart.
Markas will hand the keys back to Amar with a meaningful: "If you feel it can be trusted". If the humans seem to be able to walk on their own, Markas will head back out of the room to make sure nothing is approaching and to see where Brumdal got off to.
@Markas, Brumdal has passed you and returned down the passageway toward the others. (As you can see by the previous messages, he's rejoined the others.)
You have inched about 10 more feet up the passageway in the direction the last hobgoblin fled to keep a lookout. Here the passageway turns sharply left and with your darkvision, you can see a heavy wooden door that is barred shut--the bar is on your side of the door, so you could easily remove it and open the door. The door is maybe 30 feet away from you on the opposite wall.
You have two-thirds cover from anything coming from the direction of that door. You do not see any other activity.

Markas is going to keep watch on the tunnel and door and wait for the others to come his way.
Amar waves over to Pagan, "Something is not right about the gnoll. They're not usually so ... quiet. I think i shall free him and you be ready to kill him...if it goes badly"
Pagan is regretting handing over the keys. "The dog-man might not attack you, but he will try to kill everyone else here," he says. Pagan scratches a claw below his left eye. "We already have these merchants to protect, and an Evil Orc (no offense) to keep an eye on. Let's not drop more chaos into the mix. Our priority should be to exit this Lair quickly and silently."

Brumdal will use Lay on Hands and restore some hit points for Lhodis. I'm glad to be back without incident!
You have 9 of your 10 points left in your Lay Hands pool before you need a long rest to restore them. How many do you want to use on Lhodis?

After freeing the humans and giving the keys back to Amar, Markas left in search of Brumdal. I'm guessing they passed each other?
In either case, he planned to go to the three-way intersection and make sure nobody could block them into that torture chamber.
Right. See my last post. (We must have been posting at the same time.)
Brumdal will use three points on Lhodis for the time being - and save some in case any other party members need healing!
Sounds good. He looks noticeably better.

The Evil Orc’s Insight check to measure Pagan’s words: 6
The orc sees to relax a bit and stop his slow retreat.
@Amar, your new “friend” is looking at you wondering when you will set him free. (@Everyone else, he looks like he wants to “have you” for dinner.)
Pagan I fear you're correct. We should go qnd Vrutha should be quite helpful.
Lets move out.
I am very tempted to toss it the keys
:)
