Shade comes from the Mountain Jungle clan in his homeland, and he is familiar with steep drops and shadowy pools.  His keen eyes pick out a form in the dimly lit water far below, but he does not share those details at this time.  He doesn't want to alarm any of the other prisoners. 

It seems to Shade that all of the walkways in the Drow outpost just lead to other chambers in the cliff wall or in the stalactites.  He doesn't think that this group would survive an all-out fight against the Drow and their Quaggoths.  Therefore, when Jorlan lets them out of their pen, they're going to have to get everyone out of Velkynvelve quickly.

Shade sends a telepathic message to everyone in Stool's telepathic bond as they walk to the work site:

(telepathy)  "Hello?  This is Shade again.  I see no way out of Velkynvelve at our level.  Unless Sarith or Jorlan know of a secret way that the Drow use, I think that we will need to go down to the bottom of the cliff to get away.  Thankfully, there is a deep pool below our half of Velkynvelve.  Hey!  Who told us that the scarred guard was attacked by an ooze?  Do you know where Jorlan was attacked?"

 *No one’s used the lift, but you!ve seen it. You’re not sure how many people could fit in at once, but not that many. Also, it was Sarith who told you about the attack. It was out on patrol.*
