Dastrun, out of reflex due to years of experience, gets into a battle stance. When Kat begins to charge he see's the chinks in her battle style. He swings his battle axe low to high, hoping to catch her in the side under her sword arm. She whips her sword back knock his blade off, and him off balance. Kat chose that time to attack him at his legs, but Dastrun used his momentum to roll forward, avoiding the strike, and ending up behind Kat.
"Gotcha" Dastrun says smiling, and he swings his great axe across her back, causing her to fall to her knees bleeding. Dastrun picks her up and carries her to the side to receive treatment, then returns to the middle of the makeshift arena. "Any other takers." he yells to the crowd.
Valen sighed, and stepped into the ring. "I don't know if I can wait after seeing that. Shall we, Dastrun? Though I'd like to apply a layer of magical protection to myself, if that's alright with you," the elf said, unsheathing his rapiers.
Valen sighed, and took a ready stance, blades drawn. A quick incantation wrapped the Weave around him, allowing him a bit more protection from Dastrun's axe.
[OOC: Casting Mage Armor in preparation for combat. Roll initiative, Finny.]
Able to get the drop on Dastrun, Valen rushed forward, thrusting with his rapier. Almost reflexively, he engaged his Bladesong, giving him a bit more speed as he moved- though this proved to be a problem. With the sudden burst of speed, Valen felt himself move too fast, missing his target. He cursed as he almost passed Dastrun, pivoting to face his oppenent.
[OOC: Action: Attack on Dastrun with one rapier (10 to hit, obvious miss). BA: Bladesong (need that AC boost, since my HP is.... significantly lower than Dastrun's.) Movement: I dunno, man, closing the gap between Valen and Dastrun. However many feet that is.]

Dastun took longer to end this fight, longer than he would care to admit. He had to recognize the prowess of the elf though, he was not as much as a pushover as the last one. Dastrun laughs, "If you are this good and only a child," he says, "I will gladly meet your kinds great fighters." With that he rushes Valen, he stomps his hoof on the elfs foot to get him off balance, then gives him a matching wound to Kat's, this one on the front. When Valen falls he gives of a challenging roar.
((id like to add an intimidation roll to the roar, these townsfolk need to know what they are threatening.))
"Tch," Valen replied, nursing his wound. One of his rapiers had fallen beside Dastrun, dropped after an attack that scratched the minotaur. Valen still kept a grip on his other, aware of his loss. He looked up at his comrade, noting the few spots where he had managed to land blows. "That," he said, standing. "Was a dirty trick." He stared at Dastrun for a bit, before breaking into a smile. "I like it. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go rest up after that." That's gonna bruise, the elf thought, looking down at his wound as he limped away. Thankfully, his magical protection had saved him from the full brunt of the attack. I might have died had I not cast that spell. I suppose that's a good thing. Means he wasn't holding back. Valen grinned. Though I doubt he could have held up against spells, though.
Katerina moves towards Valen, and asks him - "how did you learn to fight like that?" as well as saying - "once your healed, let's try each other, with spells, though no preperation before hand."

Dastrun hears Kat say this and freezes, thoughts and ideas run through his mind, and one comes to surface, the best way to make money right now was to take bets.
Valen grinned in response to Katerina's question. "My fighting style is a variant on my family's form. I doubt you've heard of a Bladesong, but it's essentially a combination of martial and magical attacks, used in combat. The effects of the Bladesong increase my speed, allowing me to dodge attacks I wouldn't be able to land otherwise," he explained. "The unfortunate part is that shields become mostly useless, since you need your other arm to maintain balance, and armor always restricts movement too much. That's why I generally cast a few spells in order to maintain my defenses." Picking up his second rapier, he sheathed both of his blades. "In traditional Bladesong, the Bladesinger would use only one weapon, in order to keep a hand free for spells. In my case, I've managed to channel the Weave down my rapiers, allowing me to cast spells and maximize physical damage. It isn't generally advised to take up two weapons, since as I mentioned, you generally need a free arm to maintain balance." Valen took a ready stance, acting as if he held both of his blades. "I achieve this with more of a spin in my footwork. Dangerous, but that's why I cast two spells for protection- though I only used one against Dastrun. If I hadn't, then he might have done a bit more damage here," Valen pointed at his bruise.
Katerina nods at what Valen is saying, and responds with - "interesting, I have a similar style, as I learned blade and shield work from my mother, and a bit of magic from my father (cast Presdigitation to create a dust devil a few inch's high that writes my name in the dust) though that magic is greatly increased by my grandfather's power (she taps her blade).

"Perhaps I could learn some things from you, and you could learn some things from me," Valen stated, before bidding the group farewell and heading off to spend 5 silver for the night.
The group settles for the night, having a comfortable rest after a filling dinner. Dastrun fails to collect any bets, for the townsfolk fail to understand him, and even if they did, his earlier roar makes them wary of him. In the morning, you find the breakfast to have an unusual taste, unlike any you've experienced before.

Dastrun wakes up 30 minutes after everyone else is up. He shuffles to eat only wearing undergarments, murmuring to himself, "Where's the coffee, do they know what coffee is...i cant even find out because they speak jargon...i need coffee."
Valen tranced through the first half of night, enabling him to get up before anyone else in the town. He spent the time he had to himself meditating on his techniques and studying his spellbook. Hearing Katerina approach, he looked up, and smiled. "I trust you rested properly for our match?"
Katerina grins at Valen, and says - "Indeed, I did get enough rest ,and I am thinking that in the match, no spell preperation before-hand, so if you want armor, you need to cast it during the duel"
Katerina grins, gives something of a nod of respect and moves forward ready to strike
