“It feels as if that would be the wisest course of action. Unfortunately, I personally don’t have any ranged weapons. I suppose I’ll have to just encourage you all unless it somehow closes the distance.“ At mention of melee combat, he pulls out his longsword, giving it a quick flourish. “If we have everyone, shall we be on our way?”
As everyone makes their final preparations Theo bids you all farewell and good luck. It takes about an hour to get outside of town and to the banks of the Black River and heading in a southerly direction. As the day progresses, the clouds begin to dissipate and slowly bring the temperature up; it is warm but not terribly uncomfortable. The path is muddy, but not enough to slow the progress of travel down. It is a fairly peaceful walk along the river bank, most of the smaller wildlife scamper away as the group moves through; some do watch in curiosity.
May I get a marching order for the travel.

As the sun pulls higher into the sky, Mattias raises his hood against its rays beating down on his head. Walking alongside the cart, he scans the trail ahead and makes mental notes on the local fauna.
"Anyone else wondering where the other Rough Riders went yesterday? We arrived and they were the centre of attention. Drinking, playing cards. We head out, and they're gone. Reckon some mighty important job must of come in."
Nadarr thinks for a second about the disapperance of the senior Riders. ”Probably is quite on the interesting side. I’ll ask Theo about it when we get back, I’m sure it will make an epic tale to tell. Catching robbers, perhaps. Or maybe chasing down a band of killers. Something impressive, I’m sure.” He seems to be having a daydream of some sort for a few seconds before shaking his head. He adds, “Although, one does certainly have to wonder at the coincidence.”
[Tarkin] As Tarkin scans the river and the surrounding area, he easily finds the prints of the toads in the softened ground among the other numerous prints from the other wildlife. Tarkin can make out about three different sets of toad prints and each set is of a different size suggesting that some of the Black River Toads are bigger than others. He also finds among the tracks a group of clawed foot prints with only three toes and a wide heel. However, despite the sizes of the toads and Tarkin's vantage point, he does not seem to be able to spot any other physical signs of the quarry.
[All] The surrounding terrain is mostly flat with some scattered hills and boulders or various sized so it is easy to see some distance in any direction. On the left is the Black River, which on average is about 30 feet wide, but it does narrow and widen as is flows southward. The other side of the river is similar to the side the group is traveling on with the exception that it becomes more hilly as the planes meet up with the Chard Mountains. The sun has risen to about midday, but the temperature hasn't risen much in that time. There are still plenty of clouds lingering in the sky; along with more rolling in from the west.

While the sun is still covered by the rolling clouds coming from the west, Thardigord Boulderbreaker warily walks towards the Black River and wades his maul through the water, attempting to check if there is something living beneath it.

Nadarr watches the dwarf run his weapon through the water curiously. Not acquainted to hunting and trapping animals, he studies what he presumes is a master.
[Thardigord] The water from the river runs around the maul, cleaning off the dust and scaring some small fish away, but nothing immediately jumps out at him.
[Mattias] As Mattias scans the banks of the river he will notice that a section of loose dirt along the bank and about 30 feet ahead shifts slightly and two smaller rocks have appeared from the dirt in that spot. Upon further watching of that spot, Mattias will see that the two rocks are actually eyes that have quickly opened and closed.

Seeing the eyes, Mattias instantly tenses up. Raising his bow, he takes an arrow from his quiver in a smooth, practiced manner and nocks it against the bowstring.
"Stop the cart, something is watching us." As he speaks he circles out from the cart, moving to flank whatever lay concealed beneath the dirt. "Thirty feet ahead, look for the two rocks."
Nadarr moves to be 5 feet behind Mattias. “Well, my friend, this seems to be the moment we’ve been waiting for. Strike true!” With that, he draws his sword and Mattias feels a little inspired by the dragonborn’s encouragement.
Bardic Inspiration: You can use a bonus action on your turn to choose one creature other than yourself within 60 feet of you who can hear you. That creature gains one Bardic Inspiration die, a d6. Once within the next 10 minutes, the creature can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes. The creature can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Bardic Inspiration die, but must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Bardic Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost. A creature can have only one Bardic Inspiration die at a time.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Wary of whatever is watching the party, Mattias begins to pull back on the arrow nocked in his bow. He focuses on the target, eyes narrowing.
He tries to recall whether the watcher in the dirt is likely to be a giant black toad, or some other creature known to frequent the river banks.

Mattias knew that he was always something of a disappointing pupil when his parents would try to teach him about the various flora and fauna of the area, Nadarr's words stir something in him,and Mattias is surprised by his abilities of recall.
OOC I am terrified of sticking an arrow in whatever this thing is. One the one hand, could be a toad. On the other, "You see a large dragon emerge from the mud of the river bank and brush an arrow from its scales with a lazy brush of a foreleg."
[Mattias] Mattias is pretty certain that this is one of the giant toads that inhabit this area of the river. The patch of dirt he saw move is about 10 feet in size.
[Tarkin] With Mattias pointing out what he saw, it is fairly easy to spot the patch of dirt he is talking about. Upon keeping an eye on the area, Tarkin does not see any other movement.
[Umuni] Is going to take out her bow and notch an arrow, readying herself for potential combat and stays back by the cart and horse.
The patch of dirt is in the G4 area. Tell me the location of where you want to be placed. Also, I'll be using the spoiler box for any type of map so the post stays condensed.

Mattias will walk beside the cart incase any of the other members of their group want to ride.

Thardigord saunters to the front as he leads Theo's horse attached with a cart through the muddy path.
Nadarr trails 5-10 feet behind the wagon, accustomed to playing the role of the rear guard.
