Although everything is in shades of black and white in the dark, Thimbol is able to see what appears to be blood and bandages laying in and around the cart as though someone was hurt here and quickly bandaged up. As thimbol climbs up into the cart, he notices that the seat of the cart is hinged and as he opens it, he finds a small sack containing 100g and what looks like an official shipping document of some kind. Otherwise the cart itself appears to be pretty plain and there is not much to it and the horses are gone. On the crates there is a large number 15 painted on the side of each of them.
The crates are sturdy. they are wooden and framed in iron with hinged lids that are held shut with nails that were driven through holes in the frame and go deep into the wood. With the help of the goliath and your crowbar, you are able to Pry open one of the crates enough to see inside and squeeze and arm in. In the dark with only your night vision goggles to help you see, you think it looks like it is filled with rock fragments maybe....
Thimbol is able to reach his hand into the crate and pull out one of the fragments about the size of his fist. He can feel that it the sides seem smooth and then ends pointy, it is slightly warm to the touch.
(yeah pretty much. The docks are not all that far away from the Inn and you all left at the same time and you said you were gone a pretty long while.... )
"At the moment we are in discussions for the most effective methods, but we are considering training the residents and possibly building a wall with guards. Maybe looking at magical guardians for the HQ. We are in a terrible situation to be honest, we know little about our current foes and the methods they use are brutal and quick. Right now I believe we need to focus on defense, to protect the people. While this building is our home, it is wood and stone. We can replace that if need be, but each lost life would be a tragedy. More tea? Maybe some snacks?"
The Mayor would smile to Lorarila. "No thank you I am fine." he will say with a smile. "I agree that defending the town is very important and it has been my number one priority" He will say looking more serious. "I do not pretend to be a defensive strategist, but I am willing to pay for many of the defenses of the town out of my own pocket if needed" he will say again leaning over the table towards the half elf.

Thimbol pockets the gold and the shipping document, then goes about looking into the crates.
(you trying to open them or inspecting them or both?)
(Both)
Roll strength and investigation. You can roll with advantage.. I will say Navek is helping
Thimbol pulls out a crowbar from his pack and gets to prying open the crate.

Thimbol grabs a fragment to take outside?
(sounds good, you die when you touch it)
(Worth it)
(just kidding)

OOC: So I guess ALL this is taken place with Mo and Sayre gone while Lora talks to the Mayor?
Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.

Thimbol shrugs and leaves with Navek and Winston, locking the warehouse up again
(Once thimbol and Navek are done at the harbor I figure we will fast forward to a family snuggle? or whatever you guys have planned :D)
Once Timbol is outside in the sunlight, he can see that the stone is actually more like a crystal and has a deep red coloring.
Holding the stone up for Navek, "Now for the three most important questions. Is it valuable, dangerous, or useless? Let's go back to the inn."
***Alright, everyone is back at the inn now. yay***
