Father Lucian replies, "We are unsure. While we have never seen the mists injure anyone, very few venture close enough to try it. They seem to move, however, sometimes in a seemingly conscious way. For example, I have heard tale of the mists closing so near a building that those inside dare not leave, but later move away from the building though it be not morning. Also, as I am sure you have heard of repeated in your time here, those that enter the mists are seldom seen again."
To the tortle, the boy looks at his feet ashamedly. "M-m-Mil..." is all he can stammer out.
Father Lucian happens to overhear the boy. "MILIVOJ?! YOU TOLD MILIVOJ?!"
"Not a threat really, no. He is our groundskeeper and gravedigger. I am, however, too angry and too busy to deal with him at the moment. My offer still stands. If you will continue the investigation, I will pay you. And please, keep it as quiet as possible. I do not want to cause panic and I do not want the festival to be ruined."
"I shall look in to this as you request. You should be calm though. Center yourself or you may destroy the very thing that you're trying to accomplish."
"This is probably the best approach. We may find the need to follow this man if he is uncooperative, so perhaps one of us should not approach with the rest of our troop."
"Very well.. we will begin our inquiry and report back," Lae says as he motions the group to leave for the groundskeeper. Once outside Lae will say, "I think he was being a bit hard on the boy..."
(It would be a religion check to see if you might know what discipline they might employ.)
You head out to the grounds around the church. It does not take you long to find a brawny lad with a furrowed brow, taking at some dead leaves with a blunt-headed shovel.
"They seem dangerous... but why?" Lae adds.

Wijen asks "Who is this Milivoj? I can only assume you see them as a threat from these responses."
"Not a threat really, no. He is our groundskeeper and gravedigger. I am, however, too angry and too busy to deal with him at the moment. My offer still stands. "I believe it's safe to assume we should start by speaking with this Milivoj?"
"This is probably the best approach. We may find the need to follow this man if he is uncooperative, so perhaps one of us should not approach with the rest of our troop."
"I can hang back and provide cover. I like to touch things from a distance anyway."
-We are all just one failed saving throw away from someone else's fantasy...
"Very well. Where can we find this groundskeeper?" Wijen looks at the priest expectantly
"He should be attending to his duties outside at the moment."
"Very well.. we will begin our inquiry and report back," Lae says as he motions the group to leave for the groundskeeper. Once outside Lae will say, "I think he was being a bit hard on the boy..."
"I agree. The child just needed a lighter hand. Does this place use physical pain as a punishment for transgression?"
"Well.. so far it seems nothing is off limits..."
"Let's just talk to this Milivoj, see if he knows anything about protective bones."

You head out to the grounds around the church. It does not take you long to find a brawny lad with a furrowed brow, taking at some dead leaves with a blunt-headed shovel.
“Now then,” Lae says to the lad, “What a fine job you’re doing there. Perhaps you can take a moment and speak with us?”
The lad grunts what you assume to be an affirmative and looks at you, but also continues "raking".
“Right.. we’ll get straight to the point then. A relic is missing from the church.. have you any information about it?”
He grunts again.
Wijen grunts back, seeing if he can get a rise from the man.
