You leave the workshop and pass back through the barrel room with the staircase and into the vat room. The next door to the west in the wall does not budge, nor do the sliding double doors.
The final door hangs open, but, as you cautiously peek in (as I know you would), you see a small room.
Bare hooks line the walls of this storage room. Shelves to the south hold several pairs of wooden sandals with oversized soles. Both doors to the room hang open. The one to the west is fitted with iron brackets and leads outside into the rain. Lying on the floor next to it is a five-foot-long wooden beam.
Oh, I get it. The big shoes are for grape stomping. Zander walks over to the door that goes outside and closes it, then uses the wooden beam to bar it so no more of those plant creatures get in.

You return to the barrel room and cautiously climb the spiral staircase. The top of the stairs opens into a narrow (5' wide) hallway with 4 doors along the right (north) wall. The last door appears to be open. The hall appears to turn left (south) at the end.
As you come to the end of the hall and look left, you see it leads 20' to the top of a spiral staircase leading down. It looks like the staircase that started in the cellar, that you used to climb to the ground floor.
In this chamber are a desk, a chair, a tall wooden cabinet, and a strange contraption that takes up most of the northern end of the room.
There are three creatures here. One appears human but is so caked with dirt and mud that it's hard to know for sure. Her hair is full of twigs, and her face is hidden behind a veil of moss. She is rooting through the contents of the cabinet and haphazardly tossing them on the floor. Behind her stand two creatures made entirely of dead vines.
(Since I know you are attempting to be stealthy throughout this place, I hope I didn't overstep, but, as was discussed for the sake of movement in the campaign, I rolled a group stealth roll for you. Each of you at advantage because the druid is distracted and making some noise but throwing things. 3/4 of you passed--Lae nat 20--so I consider it a group pass.)
The creatures do not yet notice you and you have a surprise round against them.
(I will then, as discussed, roll initiative and start combat.)
Your arrow hits the druid solidly in the middle of her back.
Necros pops into the doorway vacated by Zander and throws a blast of green energy at the mud covered creature. (11 to hit, 6 damage) He then also moves clear of the doorway.

(Was that all the doors? If they were locked we could try to pick them, but if they seem barred then we'll go back to the stairs.)

(There is one more door in the west wall.) As you tried the sliding doors, you heard a rattling noise from the other side.
(Which stairs? The ones you used to come up to the vat room which keep going up, or the ones in the barrel room?)
If there are more doors on this floor I'll try them first. If not, the stairs up in the barrel room.

"I wonder what happened in here..." Lae muses as he peeks his head in over Zander.
Zander investigates to see if he can tell what this type of equipment is used for and what happened in here. 10

It looks like the people grabbed the rain coats and left in a hurry. The odd-looking sandals may have been used for crushing the grapes for the wine.

Necros speaks up. "Should we head to the top level, or should we barricade ourselves into that little workshop and take a long rest?"
We just took a little rest, didn't we? Let's keep going. Upstairs.

Let's quietly check the open door first, and scope out the rest of the hallway, then work on the closed doors.

Lae will hold his mace at the ready for any enemies in the room.

Zander whispers, "This is probably the ring leader." Then readies his bow for an attack.
