"Both the staff and that chest *pointing to the correct one* or something in it, are magical. Be careful with the chest. Halhace I suspect that quarterstaff is indeed better than yours. See if you can attune to its nature and discover its properties"
Halhace nods as he moves to the staff and poked at it with the one in his handl careful of it since he has mainly just been using his as a focus for his magic. If it doesn't do anything strange he will pick it up.
Halhace, as you poke the staff and it moves from the impact, but does nothing else.
Meep, the chests are short enough that you can completely look over them. They are about 1.5ft tall.
(I’ll assume you open the chests together.) The key Kamos found fits perfectly in the chest’s keyhole.
First you open the chest that does not have the magic aura emitting from it. Within you find a set of fine clothes and a set of simple clothes, two coin pouches – one holds 3 silver coins and 2 copper, the other a gold coin and 5 copper, and what seems to have been a ledger. From a quick glance at the ledger you can tell that the person who used this space dealt in potions, medical herbs and enchantments, and sold such items at varying prices.
Carefully opening the second chest, the one with the magic aura, you find in it a herbalism kit, a blanket, and metal bracers – these are what are emitting the magic aura.
Dhara, you notice that the ‘word’ engraved in the glass globe matches the first word on the note you found in the embellished box. You can’t read the script the word is written in, but the rest of the note is written in common: “Unreadable word –speaking it has awoken the guardian within. I suspect it is its name. It listened to commands of the one that released it, and with its help we entrapped the titan where it belongs.
As long as we keep on top of the tears, it should not happen again.”
(Note, everything you are finding in these two rooms is very old, likely 500 years old, and your characters can tell that!)
Halhace will pick up the staff and set his original to the side. He is still uneasy about the staff due to not being able to tell exactly what it does. As the other open chests he will look at them, only really seeming interested in the money.
(Halhace, for now you can use it as a quarterstaff. When you have time to attune to it I’ll give you the actual item.)
Dhara shows everyone the globe and the note, but no one can read the script the word is written in. (Halhace and Jaylen, if you want, roll HISTORY to see if you recognise the script.)
"It seems we've stumbled on to something lost for a very long time. Perhaps we can learn more about what we've found as we go. Otherwise I suggest we resume our original path. Thoughts?"
"Can't understand it per say but I have seen something like this before. Think it has to be some form of ancient language that is mostly used on with with demons and the like..." Halhace explains to them as he looks the script over.
Meep, as you look, parts of the view under the door are obscured with something – probably dirt and dust. Through the rest of the gap you can see small floor space just big enough for the door to open. You can’t make out much more. The space either ends or the floor level gets higher.

"Perhaps we can try your key on these chests? I'm not sure we have another way in but with brute force."

I'll share what I've found in the case and the note. "Does anyone recognize this word? It's a language I don't understand".

(Kamos, I suspect as a slave you would not have seen it before, no.)
Halhace, you have seen the script in some books before, when you were a part of the guild. You think it’s an old form of either abyssal or primordial.
Meep just stands in silence
There are no other exits from this room?

(There's another door)
(Yes, there is another door in the room, opposite the one you entered through. So you can go forward through that door or back to the tunnels.)
Meep runs over toward the door and takes a peek underneath.
