Halhace will continue to try and poke the spider carcass out if of the way with his staff. "I would rather have not known that."

Halhace, the way the spider is stuck in the tunnel you could try to lodge your staff between his back legs and use it as a leaver to try and pull it out. This would be difficult to do, but if you want to try, roll an Athletics check.

(Just as a reminder, there are other ways out of the cave besides the small, spider stuffed tunnel. - there is the tunnel you came from and another tunnel, similar to the one you came from.)

Kamos, tearing at the webbing of the cocoon you soon reveal an old man who starts to gasp for air. With Jaylen’s help you fully tear apart the cocoon, releasing the old man. His hair is grey with strands of dark brown still left untouched by time, his skin weathered, and his clothes are worn, but the only tears visible in his clothes are two holes that appear to be from a spider’s bite. Over his shoulder he wears a simple clothe bag from which peaks the hilt of a knife.

Only moments after you get him out, the old man is already on his feet, despite struggling to walk straight or breathe properly. “The vile creatures.. moving into our caves.” He mutters under his breath. “I... who are you?” he looks from Jaylen to Kamos, “Right, I’m lucky you are, else I’d still be stuck.” He nods more to himself than you, and then immediately begins to walk down the other wide tunnel, brushing past you as if you were no longer present and seemingly forgetting about the question he asked just moments ago.

"Moving into your caves... Sir are there a group of you living in these tunnels?"

Halhace decides it is not worth the extra effort and moves to look towards the other tunnels with a quick and bored glance.

The old man shudders and stops walking after hearing Jaylen talk to him. “No one’s supposed to live in here. No one but fungi and tiny...” His words trail off, becoming ever quieter, leaving the sentence unfinished. He turns in your direction, but his eyes seem to look through you. The old man seems unfocused; his mind not fully present in the moment.

Halhace, looking down the wide tunnel, you can see the walls, and much of the floor, covered in the sticky threads. There does not seem to be any sunlight penetrating into tunnel, however, there seems to be a faint glow coming from the far end, just where the tunnel starts to turn.

Kamos: (to everyone) "Hey! old man, you still with us?"

"This man is clearly not in his right mind, weave give me strength"

I cast guidance on myself and use it to make a medicine check on the man.

Halhace notes the glowing but turns back to the rest of them and the old man. "Keep him quiet if you can."

In response to Kamos’ shouting, the old man looks in his direction and mutters under his breath. Then, turning back to Jaylen as he tries to examine him, the old man pushes Jaylen’s hand away and takes a step back. “No need to fuss.” He mutters, but does not look at you. “My mind is just right, I’ll have y’know. Now on with your business and let me get back to mine.”

Jaylen, from what you can tell the old man is actually in very good health, which is surprising considering his age and the fact that he had just been trapped in a cocoon. Without his cooperation it will be hard to find out anything more.

Kamos: (to the old man[in an irritated voice]) "Yeah, no need to thank us, its not like we saved your life..." (to the party) "...I'm starting to think this whole adventure is a big mistake, its not like this town has given us a warm welcome, and we should continue to put distance between us and our pursuers." 

"These people are suffering Kamos. I can't turn a blind eye to that weather they are grateful or not."

"STOP RIGHT THERE!" Dhara yells, using Thaumaturgy to amplify her voice and make the ground shake beneath him.  "We just risked our lives to release you, so right now your business is our business.  Who are you?  What are you doing down here?"

"Well, Halhace, there goes the quiet idea.." says Jaylen while smiling at Dhara and shaking his head...

Halhace face palms as he shakes his head, running his hand over his face. "Just let the old fool go if he wants to be so difficult..."

The old man turns towards Kamos, clearly unhappy with his comment. Then, hearing Dhara yell at him, he gets visibly angry. He takes a few steps back towards Halhace and the tunnel, looking over both Dhara and Kamos, and nearly shouts back at them. “LOOK, I’ve never met y’people! And by the looks of the two of y’, you could be some beasts making these caves unsafe for the people around ‘ere.” With that, the old man turns towards the tunnel and stomps past Halhace, huffing and puffing as he goes.

(also I'll retrieve whatever arrows I can from the spider.. I think I fired 2).

"Now see here, Sir! These people are my friends. And I do mean people not beasts you intolerant ignoramus. And they just help save your life. Turn around and apologize to them this instant and then be on your way. We will help SAVE this village weather you like it or not, even some of its residents don't deserve it." Jaylen is shaking with anger at the insult to his friends.
