Isk spins the glaive to party a blow from the horror, but a second strike cuts deep, causing Isk to clutch his side. He closes his free hand into a fist, and disappears into a puff of smoke before reappearing 5 feet further away from the horror (Misty Step). He then uses the reach of his glaive to attack the horror. Attack: 20 Damage: 12

“Nice hit. Now I wish I had a different spell. Ugh.... it would help.” Jack slashes at it again (with advantage on magic, can’t really hit it with Dissonant Whispers)
Attack: 18 Damage: 7
(I wish I could take credit, but accidentally put +4 instead of 3, so crap.)
Even with his epic miss, Isk feels inspired! (Inspiration!)

(Yeah, a 17 misses.
The inspiration makes things interesting. I said that the group 1 could go in any order. This is a bit sneaky, but if Jack goes ahead of Iskander, Isk could use that inspiration for the damage on his hit... his critical hit.)

That would be awesome! Up to the DM though, it we could roll initiative.
(I said for this fight that the ones that go before the HH could rearrange their init order. Isk has the option of using the combat inspiration this round.)

Can I use it on the damage roll? I thought it was only for attack rolls, ability checks, and saves. If I can, then i totally will! 4 more damage!

Now that he's no longer face to face with the thing, Froskan fires another ball of ice (Chromatic Orb, second level this time) at the helmed horror, using his inspiration from jack to help his aim.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Although Reverie, Jack, and Froskan are attacking well, the armor and battle movement of the helmed horror is able to avoid solid hits. The near-hits leave it off-balance, and Jack yells to Iskander that the head is exposed. Iskander lands a critical blow on the helmet, crushing it (like a beer can) and gouging the top of the breastplate (24 damage, total of 56 damage).
Horribly, despite the damage, the thing charges at Iskander like a runaway bull. Attack1: 25 Damage: 11, Attack2: 22 Damage: 7. Iskander is hurting, falling to one knee (4 hp).
Reverie and Jack are about the strike at the HH's exposed back, but Trimyrai's bow goes before them. Through the breaks in the armor, Trimyrai sees runes. A well placed arrow goes through those runes (6 damage, 62 total). The helmed horror staggers a step, then clatters to the ground as an empty pile of armor.
Combat is over. The party looks around, and no other threats are visible. Iskander is stable, but unconscious at 0 hp hurt but at 4 hp.
If you want to examine something on the map (post 1709), include an Investigation roll (except the armor, which is an Arcana roll). When you decide where to go next, there is the stairs up, a door to the east, the doors along the north hallway, and the rest of the north hallway out of visible range.

OoC - had the horror moved to get me? I had moved to be 10 feet away from him using Misty Step, or did he also have a reach weapon?
(Arrgh, you are right. Sorry about that... It would still move to target the spell-caster who did 24 points to it. I will rewrite the narrative so it only got the first swing. In which case Iskander was still at 4 HP, or now at 8 HP after Jack's healing word.)

Isk, though bleeding heavily, can't help but Bob his head and tap his feet to Jack's amazing songwriting. Though his wounds linger, his mind and soul and soothed.
(OOC: Now I'm feeling a bit bad, although the narrative turned out okay... Iskander has a potion of healing that he could drink, that was handed to him by Reverie at that shark beach.)

Trimyrai: (to the party) "Isk, take a healing potion." Trimyrai says as he hands Isk a Potion of healing.
Trimyrai is going to try to recover the three arrows he fired during the fight. (let me know if i need to roll something for that.)
