Trimyrai is having trouble getting free, when Iskander grabs the free end of the rug to reduce its movement. (Second Trim Athletics roll: 23 ) Trim rolls free (still has Jack's inspiration).
Froskan tries his cold cantrip. (Rug CON save: 10 ) The rug takes 5 cold damage, with patches of cloth cracking as its movement slows.
Jack's combat reactions are again slowed by his hours of petrification. This rug is going to pay, once his cobwebs clear!
Reverie swings twice. Scimitar Attack: 14 Damage: 7, dagger bonus Attack: 17 Damage: 2 She strikes both times, for 9 piercing damage.
Round 5 - Trim's nemesis rug
Rug smother attack w/disadvantage: 11 The rug might have wrapped around Trimyrai once again, but its cold-slowed movements are knocked aside by Trimyrai.
Both armors are scrap metal. The rug has taken 15 damage. Iskander still at 18/24 hp, Reverie 20/28 hp, Trimyrai 12/25 hp.
The entire party can post. Initiative order: rug (it has gone); Froskan, Reverie, Iskander, Trimyrai, Jack. Everyone can try to beat this rug. Trimyrai starts the round free of the rug's embrace.

Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
(For Trim, he gets disadvantage on ranged attacks if he is within 5' of an enemy. Moving out of melee range gives the rug an attack of opportunity. The Hellish Rebuke requires Trim to see the foe that damaged him, but the rug does blinding and grappling for no initial damage... It is down to 1 HP with Froskan and Iskander still up, so we'll have Trim give the final shot without rolling another to-hit.)
Reverie slashes the rug with her scimitar (just misses with the dagger), and Jack grunts in triumph as he tears a hole in the rug. The rug tries to move towards Trimyrai, but his arrow pins it down... The party rips it into threads, until it stops moving. (Combat is over.)
There is nothing else in the room north of the storage room. It held the animated objects who attacked any intruders in the house, and nothing else.

With a slight flourish, Isk spins the glaive from a ready position into an upright position, leaning against his shoulder. "That rug was all over you, Trim. How much is left of this house? I mean, that's gotta be it, right?" He says with a smile, clapping his hands together as if brushing dust of the palms.
Your group heads to the last 2 doors that you've found, off the hallway to the south. The east room used to house the servants, multiple cots crammed in the same room, but it is disheveled (half the cots overturned and broken), and this room looks like it hasn't been used in months. After some searching, you determine there is nothing of interest in this room.
The west room was the guest bedroom, also messy, but it has been used until recently, maybe a week or two ago. (The bedsheets haven't been washed in many months.) Some books are scattered around the room, but those are crackpot arcane theories on animating the unliving, alchemy (mostly stone to flesh), and other nonsense like you found in the library. There is a nightstand next to the bed with a closed drawer, and a pile of parchments and scroll cases in the NW corner of the room.

Jack takes a bunch of theories on animating unliving (I assume Objects, not dead) and Flesh to stone, and shoves it all in his magic bag. "whatever this guy was into, this cant be good." He flips through some books, looking for anything important in them, and then looks around the room for details, before moving to the servant's quarters. "now what's in here.." He looks around in there too.

Reverie looks at her companions for a moment before she chuckles at Trimyrai's statement. "I agree with Iskandar now," she says as she looks at Trim with a smile, "you must have this attractiveness for the magic rugs." Then she walks towards the Servant's Quarters to see if anything is unusual.

Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
Isk shifts the glaive to his left hand and allows is to rest against his shoulder. He walks through the room, shuffling through different things with his free hand before coming to the nightstand. He reaches to open the drawer, but pauses and says, "We weren't tasked with bringing anything back from here, right, just clearing the house of danger?"
“No, but ye never know. This guy might have some magic scrolls or other things. Plus, if he’s here, we need to find him.” Jack says as he looks around. (What did he find? Froskan’s help gave me a 20 instead of a 2, so I know I’m doing good!)
Reverie is certain there is nothing to find in the servant's quarters, other than the knowledge that they haven't been used in months.
In the guest bedroom, there are a couple of things:
Most of the scroll cases are empty, or filled with family contracts and purchases (worthless). In one of the longer cases is a map. Written on the end, in Elvish, is: "A gift to my newly born son Adram. The lands of the west, that the Diamondbrook family will one day own." Inside is a map. (I'll put it in the next post, and link it on the Campaign page.) You remember from Noam's research ( post 1633 ) that the family talks a big game, but has very limited skills that they waste in family bickering. The family fortune from a distant ancestor is what keeps them in power.
In the drawer is a key. It is large (butter knife sized) and labeled, "Spare. Lib 3."
Also in the drawer is a journal, written in Elvish (Iskander can't read it). It is too thick to be read thoroughly, but could be skimmed in an hour. (Ie. One person could skim it, while the others get a Short Rest. Isk, Reverie, and Trim would get a chance to use Hit Dice to heal up. I'd need to know if the group wants to do this, and who would read it.)

You have what the party has been mapping so far, in post 1979. All doors that the party has seen have been opened, or you've explored both sides of the doors. I'll even throw in that there is nothing under the stairs from the ground floor to the upper level.)
