Ellayne frowns when the front guard walks toward and strikes her with his spear. Her mismatched eyes glare at them before she moves into the room. As soon as she moves, Ellayne hears the sound from the commotion from the outside and then from inside of Zachary's room. "If you really want to do a job of the guards, then help us!" Then, she holds up a dagger, protecting herself.

Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
You see the Guards eyes looking over toward the door, then back at you. The Guard behind lowers his shield a little to get a glimpse of what might be happening. (I assume you're taking the dodge action? If not you still have an action to take as talking is free :))
As Jebben is standing near the door in the alleyway, glancing furiously for a way to help his trapped friends, the sound of Ellayne's voice, entreating the guards for help, echoes down into the common room and pulls his attention back through the door. He peeks around the frame, grasps his pipes, and points his finger. "What is it, Ms. Ellayne? What's going on? Mr. Dorstaer hasn't answered--are you all coming out the back way?"
SNViolent and Ellayne:
Jebben's now confused. Seeing the guards go up the stairs, he was going to meet everyone in the back and try to help them find an alternative escape route. Now he just heard Ellayne ask the guards for help. So he'll use his action to communicate with her via Message to hopefully get more info. I'll post what his movement for his turn will be once he hears a response from Ellayne. It'll likely be to go (carefully, probably sneak) back into the tavern and try to figure out if and how he can help with this new development.
((Again, posting this pre-emptively so you can blast through my turn, should it hit while I'm sleeping.)) :)
Wander will move to throw another dart at the creature to keep its attention on him, looking back at the others to hope that they will be joining in soon. "We must get in there to help him."
Ellayne glares toward the guards, noticing they slowly understand what is actually going on in this hallway. Then she hears Wander's words which she realizes the situation becomes dire than she imagines. Her mismatched eyes fixate on the guards. "Help us. The child is gone and the father is dead by the monster! If I was a guard like you, then I would let the people escape outside of the tavern or stay to fight the monster." Then, Ellayne hears the voice from her head, realizing it was Jebben's voice. That is when she starts to whisper for a reply to Jabben as she runs into the room. "Dorstaer is in trouble, Zachary is dead, and Annie is gone missing. There is a monster that has devoured Zachary and, possibly Annie too. We need more help."

Jebben cocks his head as Ellayne's words reach him. "Oh!" he says, his eyes widening. He immediately charges back into the common area, past the crates, not bothering to hide.
"Your attention please!" he says to the dining patrons. "There's a fell beast upstairs that's devoured someone in their room. It could pose a danger! I recommend you all evacuate so these fine guards can do their job!"
He turns to any guards who have looked his way. "Well, what are you waiting for? Lady Hawksong's child is in peril! Get up there!"
The gnome draws his dagger and turns to the stairs, himself. "I will assist!"
( Happy new year to everyone! uwu I am ready! uwu )

Wander's dart hits the creature in the forehead. With little resistance, the dart turns the top of it's skull into a mush and it slumps over Dorstaer, still bleeding from the bite wound.
The Guards stop after hearing Jebben from below. "What? Her daughter? I thought that was a joke?" One of the Guard says, lowering his shield from his face. "Who's in that room?"
The Guards have stopped trying to attack you. If you wish to continue just say so, but they are dropping out of combat.
The front Guard swings his spear onto his back and draws some manacles. "I'm afraid you're going to have to come in for questioning. Abducting a minor, escaping lawful arrest and assaulting a City Watchman are the charges."
Jebben lowers his dagger, and points up the stairs. "Oh, no, no, no, no. It's no joke, jest, or hijinks at all. The fair Hawksong child and her father stayed here last night, and it seems..." The gnome pauses, and glances nervously upstairs. "Hear, hear! There's no time for this. Can you see to this foul beast that is upstairs!? There will be plenty of time for questioning after the immediate threat is addressed!"
Jebben can't see what's going on upstairs, so he doesn't know the creature is dead. There's no trickery here; he genuinely wants the guards to help.
Wander will move over to the creature and use his staff to push it off of their fallen companion. "We do not have time for talk if we are going to leave it is time to either push through these guards or fight."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vostariaapproaches Dorstaer and attempts to stabilize him while talking to the soldiers. "Just to be clear, you are arresting this man who is dying on the ground for his efforts to save Lady Hawksong's daughter?" She doesn't listen to the answer, focusing on applying aid to Dorstaer instead.
