I nod, "Okay, so it sounds like we have something of a consensus. Let's do what we can for the barding, and make plans for the clockwork horses when those become an option. Waiting a week sounds fine to me, we've got a good bit to do as things stand. I'll be done making Ping 2.0 in a few days, do any have a request of me for after that is done?"
---
After we're done talking amongst ourselves, I'll find an appropriate moment to approach the Lord and Lywenta. Informing the former of our plans, and asking the latter about the possibility of permanently animating a large vehicle. Even if the APC idea was not something to pursue right away, it is one that could be useful to have in a variety of situations.
Note for DM on APC idea. The spells Animate Object and Permanency would be necessary. I don't know what her caster level is, but it will define how large of a vehicle we could make that way (hopefully she's CL 16+, a gargantuan sized vehicle should be more than large enough to work with). The latter spell will cost her 3,000 xp. So even if she has access to both spells, I don't see her being quick to volunteer that service, at least not without compensation.
"Nothing comes to mind from me. After I finish those two projects I'll be working on a crafting aid and a Shield item, but that's all I've got in my plans."
I will have picked up the enhanced armor by this time.
Is it possible to work on magic items and work on mundane items as well? The min per item is 1 day, but if an item is cheap enough, does it leave any hours left for crafting or something?

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
The Lord greets Caesar and then turns back to his breakfast allowing Rachel to go sit by her friends. After everyone is sitting and eating the Lord stands up again. He calls Kelvin and Vickie forward. Once they are both standing in front him he addresses them and the others in the room. "kelvin I know this Inn has been a dream of yours for a long time. I know you have found a great love that shares this dream with you in Lady Vickie. I know there is something else you have longed for so I call on you to kneel." As Kelvin kneels The lord draws a large great sword for behind him. Standing there the Lord knights Kelvin. "Kelvin in response to all of what you have done for me and been here to protect me for these past years I feel that you well deserve this. From this day forth you will be known as Sir Kelvin Rosebury. The inn is your domain and your land. I will in the near future set aside a tract of land that you may build upon if you so desire too. Now let us all rejoice in this breakfast here at the inn on its grand opening and enjoy all of this bounty that has been prepared for us." The lord sits back down after placing the great sword back into its scabbard.
A bit envious as Kelvin gets knighted, knowing my own, romantic notions on the duties and history of knights, I congratulate the newly minted Sir and toast his recognition and elevation. The joy of this occasion pales a bit as I recall my family, thoughts of their health and situation coming to the fore and muting the revelry in my ears.

I smile and toast Sir Kelvin. It's so nice to have something good happen for a change here. I direct Caesar to take a place along a wall. As he walks to his spot he grabs some fruit. Caesar tries to eat the grapes casually and thinks No one notices. I don't notice this as I'm drinking some wonderful red wine. " I know it's morning but it's never too early to drink. Let's have some fun. " I take another big drink.
I raise a glass as well to cheer the pair on. Looking to Thalica, I squeeze her hand and smile. Land to build on... That would be something worth working for.
Travis, raises a glass and also toasts to the knighthood of Kelvin. "Here is to Sir Kelvin, Rosebury, may your sword strike true, and your life be full of heroic, deeds, and unrivaled bravery," He raises his glass, to him, salutes then takes a drink, of the sumptuous red wine.
As the tears fall from the over-enjoyment at Kelvin getting Knighted. I stand beside him in my gown of the varied green colors and announce not only to him but to the crowd gathered for the grand opening of the Inn:
" My beloved, my Lord, my Lady, my Companions, and those gathered here ; I look at each of you as I state this. I have great news to share, I will be staying here and running the Inn for I am with child."
Upon the announcement of her pregnancy, I am unable to completely restrain a grunt of surprise. Thinking to myself *Talk about going native all the way! I guess she's accepted the new world completely with this kind of commitment. I couldn't see myself going that far. Ever.* Thinking back on my children and wife, possibly worried and/or mourning my sudden disappearance, I find my eyes water, but wipe it away, put on a happy smile, and join in the cheers and celebration of her announcement. "Congrats!! May this only be the first of many!"

I'm shocked as I hear the announcement. I knew that they had been growing close but still.... First Jason and now Vickie. I guess they were never going back now. They were happy though. I still held out hope that we could make it back though. A child here? It was a frightening prospect to me. Shoving these thoughts out of my mind for a moment I stand and move to Vickie and squeeze her tightly. I whisper, " You found a good one girl. I'm so happy for you. I know you will have a pretty baby. I'm glad you have found your happiness. "
Travis, is also surprised at hearing this new announcement. He claps his hands, and raises his glass again, "Congratulations, to you both then," He has another drink of wine.
"Well, this is an interesting development," He says quietly, to the others,as he seemed lost in thought.
After the Breakfast at the newly opened in is over the Lord leaves along with Lywenta, and his guard kelvin. Outside Jason approaches the Lord and Lywenta about the groups plans. The Lord looks at Jason and thus says, "With possible hostile forces not more than a day or two away searching for something we have no idea what it may be could pose a danger to us if used against us or a boon to us if you and your team and discover it first or take it away from the hostile group before it can be brought to bear upon us. I would prefer you and your group be back out there no later than two days hence." As he walks off Lywenta will tell you that she can preform the necessary spells but currently she would want to save her powerful spells in case as the lord put it hostiles come closer with a item that could render a serious issue on the stronghold. Plus the fact that she is still studying the stones and deciphering them she does not have a lot of free time to spend the time necessary to cast the spells. Also to cast the spells she would need a sizable donation to her chest as the spells will cost her dearly.
"We can focus on that. Before we weren't sure if they were looking for something or for us. I think they're looking for something and keeping an eye out for us," I say more confidently having accepted my role in this town and the intentions of its ruling class.
"It basically comes down to you guys when we leave, I've got a shield with the divine platinum one on it and a sword blessed by his emissary. I'll keep pushing to you guys say heel or I fall again." I grin, "Just don't try to enlarge me without asking, I think the strength and damage boost don't offset my defensive capabilities enough. If I'm trying to hold a bunch of them off, it makes it easier for all of them to hit me. I've been practicing fighting defensively. It's harder to get a solid swing off but I'd rather keep them drawn to me while the teens pick them off. One day I'll need to know their names or else just start naming them after the lost boys from Peter Pan."
"I hope Lywenta can figure out the stones so we can eavesdrop on the conversations and find out exactly what they are after. Information is the key, as always. If we are to leave in two days, we need to be ready." With that, I'll stop drinking any more alcohol and stick to juices and such. Finishing off what remains of my breakfast, I'll ask leave of the Lord (if he's still there) and head back the workshop area to continue my projects. (Unless any more conversations start)

I continue having a good time with whoever stays. Caesar eats a little fruit from time to time if no-one is watching. His dark eyes take In the crowd as he watches me. " Jonathan, if you insist upon taking all the punishment then I'll let you. Hopefully they won't hurt your good looks. " I wink at him. " This is nice having a little down time. "So, you guys have been working on some very complex machines to help us out. I would think that there are simpler things that can be done quicker or scavenged from the things we brought. Something to recharge phones? Magically or mundanely, I mean I wasn't the science geek but I know you can turn a potato into a battery somehow."
"We haven't had much time for applying modern technology here, so far, but I have made a few Leyden jars to store electricity. I've been reluctant to try charging anything from them as I don't currently have a way to measure the current. We wouldn't want to put 100 volts of DC in your iPhone! That being said, when we have the free time, a boiled potato typically will produce just under 5 watts of power at 5 volts, so that might work, if we plugged it into a cable to the phone. You'd go through a few potatoes before a full charge though you could eat your 'battery afterwards, if want. I've also been debating about using magic to the same results, but that'll take time to develop. We don't seem to be able to take breaks here." I say, smiling.
