Taken from my prayers by the sudden commotion, I see the companion fall into the water and am about to try and help when the crew leaps into action and deals with the it. After the damage is assessed, I hear Jason comment and feel a bit envious at his easy grasp of powerful magic, beyond my abilities at this time. Putting my own enhanced strength (16) to help when needed, I aid as I am able to.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Hearing a crash and feeling the boat list to the side , I'm paralyzed for a few minutes; as I hear people running about. I get my barrings and head top side to see what happened.
The captain is at hand to supervise the recovery of the mast, rigging and sails and people and soon all are back on board. The mast is splintered pretty good but putting it back with the aid of ropes pulleys and many mens strengths makes it easy to use a mend spell that makes it whole once again. The rest of the day is spent working on rerigging the mast and spars with sails and making sure all is once again ready for sailing. It is well after the evening meal when the boat is once again on it way west.
I sigh at the damage done. "Oh my Caesar. This isn't a jungle gym. " He walks towards me with a chagrined look. " It is okay my friend. You are too big to climb that mast. "
Caesar will aid in holding the mast upright while repairs are made.
I apologize profusely for the problems caused to both the captain and the prince, explaining that while Caesar is a steadfast companion, he remains a wild animal at heart, and sometimes difficult to manage.
After hearing and seeing Caesars mis-adventures for the day. Then helping out some of the men with the heavy lifting of the sails. After dinner and having an ale. Travis spends time reading and studying his book of spells plus notes on apothecary.
The next couple days proceed as normal as you make way to the west with no issues. You can still see snow capped mountains to the north and nothing but water to the west, east and south. The day is sunny with a few thunderheads forming to the west.
Upon arriving up on deck, I notice the thunderheads forming to our West, I say a quiet prayer that we make it to our destination without incident. Having never been on a ship in rough seas, but recalling seeing such on TV back on Earth, it would not be the thing I wish to so if I could possibly avoid it. The trip has been wonderful so far, but I do look forward to going back to my life at the Inn and seeing Kelvin again.
I chuckle, "I like to quote movies a lot, seeing those clouds reminds of Jumangi, 'a little rain never hurt anyone, but a lot of it can kill you.' not that I want to get caught in a storm, but it's nice to see nature that's not bespoiled by the way we treated our world."
" It is nice to see nature so pristine. I'm not sure if I can go back to our world and see what has been done to it again. Besides if we do go back now we will have lost an incredible amount of years. " I look to Jason. " Jason, do you remember what Douglas said regarding how long he had been in this world?"
I grin, "What about going back with the tools to undo every last scrap of that damage? High-level druid spells are more than capable of healing large swatches of land. You could start by regrowing the entire Amazon jungle, while creating Guardians to discourage people from despoiling it again. Not to feed your ego too much, but you could essentially become mother Gaia."
"As for giving humanity alternatives to messing with what you're trying to preserve, certain power generation methods become a hell of a lot easier to manage with magic involved. I don't know for sure whether or not it can be done yet, but I have a concept in mind for a machine capable of cheaply turning huge amounts of sea water into free hydrogen and oxygen for the sake of fuel. With enough capacity, hydrogen power could replace every single fossil fuel power plant on the planet, with the only by-product being perfectly clean and drinkable water."
My grin falters as I continue, "In regards to the issue of time dilation, it's not as bad as you seem to think, but yeah it's still an issue. If my estimate is right, the ratio seems to be about four to one. So if we go back now it will have been about four years. Not too bad. Unfortunately, and I am truly sorry to say this, but I will be surprised if we manage to learn enough to get back home inside of the next decade."
My face shows various expressions as he speaks. " Going back and using my magic to be a sort of Mother Gaia would be amazing. I could heal so much damage that has been done...I have been wondering about our abilities though... Are they a part of us for good or only as long as we are here. " My voice trembles...." Four years...our family and friend at home think we are all dead. So best chance is we return and 40 to 50 years have passed. That is really.....tough... to deal with.." I turn away as tears run down my cheeks. Walking slowly I end at the railing. I stare out across the water as I think about loved ones that there is a good chance I will never see again.
More a little disconcerted at the time variance being stated so plainly, I also show a stiff expression and say "With magic, there are no rules set in stone. The technology we are trying to start incorporating in this universe could be easily veto'd by an interested deity or three, and the limits of the depth of magic we can wield is still a great unknown. Even something as basic as a simple healing spell would be incredibly powerful back home, not even mentioning some of the protection and offensive spells we can already cast. I, for one, have every intention of getting home in a reasonable time frame, and with the history of magic that other casters have used that I've read about in the Keep's library, time travel is also within possibility. When you have random access to time, dilation doesn't matter. As long as I get the magic right, I can be home the day after I left. At least, that's my hope, because all I do and learn and fight for here are merely the steps I must take to get back to my family. "

The next day you watch as the storm clouds get closer throughout the day. By night fall you are treated to a nice light show as the captain tells everyone that he is headed to a northern cove tonight so that you can ride the upcoming storms out in relative safety. Youall feel the shift in the wind and as the ship heads north before the storms. The mountains grow closer and even look more impressive as they grow to great heights before you. It is close to the time the second sun would be low in the horizon when you see what appears to be a small sheltered opening in the mountains. The sails are coming down and ties to the spars as the ship slows as it enters the small cove as the rain starts. The rain is light as it first starts but soon the rain gets heavier as the lightning gets much closer. Soon you can see the or hear the rain coming down in heavy sheets as the ship comes to a stop in th center of the small harbor and its anchor is dropped. You can hear the wind outside the small harbor as it rages along with the rain against the rocks. You can feel the wind at times hitting the ship sending it tilting hard to one side or the other. Sleep is hard to come by as the storms rage through the night but just after time for the first sun to rise the winds and rain slow down and within another hour are gone. The sailors swarm up into the rigging to check on the conditions of the wales and spars before the captain orders sails to be set and a small eddy or wind carries it back onto the main waters. Soon the captain calls for full sails as you make your way west.
As the storm approaches I worry about Caesar. The ship hasn't bothered him so far but a big storm is totally different. He handles it somewhat uneasily. The next day as we set sail a fun idea hits me. After walking to the top deck I transform into a bald eagle. Taking a few steps to get used to my new form I take off. Flying up a little higher I can see darting shapes of fish below. Diving down to snatch one up I miss. This happens the first few times. finally I manage to snatch one up and fly back to the ship. I drop it down to a waiting Caesar who catches it, sniffs it and devours it. I repeat this several more times bringing fish for him and my companions. Afterwards I fly higher and gaze at the world beneath me. My new eyes magnify everything so well. I can pick out minut details far below.
While Rachel is a eagle she can see that the mountains to the north are high and almost impassable. As she is flying she can see a high mountain well above the snow line that has what appears to be a cave in it. As she watches she will see a a white serpentine figure emerge from the cave and take wing. It looks in her direction before heading further north into the mountains. A chill races through her body as she continues her flight enjoying the nice day. Later on that night after the evening meal the captain telsl you all that in two days you will make it to the western shore in the late afternoon.
I shake my head at the news, "We've seen three dragons so far, and none of them the friendly type. At least this one didn't try to turn you into a snack. Hey captain? I don't suppose you know where there are a few metallic dragons around that might be approachable? It would be a very pleasant change of pace."

"Who has the Enlarge spell again?" I say as I crack my fingers.
I"m not wearing any armor at the moment and my shirt's off enjoying the weather, are my tattoos still there?
