Relief crosses Marion's face as Bristen shares his concern with the state of things here in Dalben and agrees to join her. She nods to him in return and says with a warm smile "Thank you, I am glad to have met you this day." She glances to Ghengis, who is deep in his game of cards, her thoughts are evident across her face as the concern returns once more, she clearly hopes the burly Dwarf will join them also.
The dwarf slams his cards on the table in frustration. "Just my bloody luck! " Ghengis folds and tosses the newcomer a silver coin before stomping over to his companions at the bar and ordering another mug of dwarven ale. "I knew he was cheating. He had that look in his eye. "
The guard and the bartender laugh as Ghengis stomps forward. "Just call it even." The guard mutters. The bartender grins and brings out a large mug which he fills from a small keg from behind the bar. "Something to celebrate our new partnership. On the house." The ale deep and rich, unusually dark - real dwarven beer from the bartender's private stock. He pours smaller glasses of other requested spirits for those signing as well.
I am not the one who stipulated that I would receive a core wipe before arriving here boss. Mangus snarks at the Innkeeper. My kind are rarely seen in this portion of the country, but not so rare you couldn't have known what that would entail.
He shrugs, his massive frame shaking slightly.
But then again, that could've been your intention.

The bartender sniffs. "My intent is my own. I hired a guard. You've scared my customers. Consider this my apology. Some day I'll find that merchant who sold you to me. See what you used to be. Till then, chin up."
As Ghengis turns to her she pauses for a moment, thinking about how best to phrase her reply, before speaking “It seems that this place has been plagued by the undead as of late and there is one recent addition to this gathering that has demanded tribute from Dalben. Myself, Bristen and Magnus here intend on doing something about it and the barkeep has offered us lodgings, along with food and drink, in the meantime.” Trying her best to sound casual about it, in a way that only Dwarves ever can, she finishes “What say you? Are you in?”
The smile returning to her face Marion turns to the guard whom she had conversed with previously. “It seems that it is settled, might you meet with us here in the morning so that we talk in more detail of the one who demands tribute?”
As she does so she gathers her pack from in front of the fire, taking care with the large roll of fine cloth strapped to it in particular, then grabs a few last morsels of food and another cup of water.
Ghengis slams his seventh and last mug of ale down. "I'll be taking you up on that offer of free lodging, innkeeper. " He says, nodding goodnight to Bristen and Marion before stomping up the stairs with a noise reminiscent of a crippled loxodon.

As the night settles, the party retires to their rooms, generously provided by the surly, but now much more friendly bartender/inkeep. As the illusions of revelry downstairs are snuffed out, the sounds of the storms again manifest - waves of water and surges of wind battering against the study inn's walls and roof. Most of you sleep well... the sounds of the night without not interrupting your fast sleep. Safe, and protected, you find yourselves fully rested and alert the next day, ready for whatever may come.
But some of you do not. Those who failed the Wisdom check may read the following spoiler.
You have a dream.
A dream unlike any other you have previously had. Darkness smothers everything, you are nearly blinded. Then a light. Not a warm light, but cold, malicious. Hunting. Twin lanterns like red eyes, prowling through the night. Thunder roars without, and lightning crashes across the sky. You are in the center of town, where the well lies ringed by rotting houses. From within the well rises a swarm of dark birds, and from within the swarm, a figure. Black cloak whipping in the wind, it ascends, red eyes baleful and glaring hungrily. You try to draw your sword, but cannot. Drifting on a nightmare breeze, the horror approaches, wreathed in darkness, wreathed in red light, and draws a pale blade. With a casual flick of it's arm, the blade slashes across your chest, and your warm lifeblood pours out onto the ground. The creature pauses, and then seems to draw in breath. You look up one last time and see that it's eyes have dimmed to a low crimson, still burning, but now watchful, waiting.
You awake with a gasp. You are unharmed, but the red eyes rest fixed in your memory for the remainder of the day.
After a good night's sleep Marion awakes early feeling refreshed. She gathers her things and heads down stairs to begin her morning rituals and have breakfast. When she comes down to the bar she places her things next to one of the tables and if someone is available to take an order she would ask for some water, bread and cheese if they have it.
Sitting down at the table she pulls out eight blue coloured candles, a small censer and a block of incense and arrays the candles on the table in a circle with the censer at it's centre. After breaking off some incense into the censer and setting both it and the candles alight she settles down and enters into quiet prayer with her head lifted towards the ceiling and eyes closed while awaiting the others.
Her prayer's just in case anyone is able to over hear her even as she is quietly speaking to Mystra:
"Be with me this day my lady, I have found the path that you laid before me and I gladly step onto it. I sense the darkness that has come to rest over this place, I will stand as your beacon driving back the darkness and filling the void with your light. Guide me as I venture forth this day, for what is unknown to me is clear to you and I have faith that you will steer me to where I must go. I ask that you work through me to rekindle the flame of hope in the people of Dalben and that together we might lift the burden of despair from their hearts.
I see great courage in my new found companions and I thank you for bringing such stalwart folk to aid me. I see much goodness within them even though I sense conflict within their souls, if we are destined to walk together then let us face this conflict together so that they might find peace. I see one who is lost amongst them, he struggles with the gift that you have born him. I pray that he joins us and that you help me show him the wonder of that which he is blessed with.
I thank you Mystra, for you are my light and my courage and together there is nothing that I cannot face. May your star sit over me this day."
