Khelgar peeks around the corner of the back side of the house looking for his comrades. He doesn't see anyone so, continuing with his idea to open the front door from inside the house to facilitate the entrance of the rest of the party, he enters the cellar, going down the stairs, after lightining one torch if he sees that there is no natural light down there.

Magnus breathed in, closed his eyes, and breathed out.
He could hear the fire roaring in his veins. It was screaming to be let out. Far off, he could hear a voice calling him. "It's time, Magnus," the voice said.
"Everyone," he began quietly. "I'd like you all to leave this building. Right now. Get everyone out of here. You have thirty seconds to gather everybody." His eyes remained closed as he listened for everyone to leave. In his mind, he began to count: One, two , three...
When he hit thirty, his eyes flew open. "I am Magnus Dundragon. I am the Eternal Flame, the one who Reaps what Death has Sown. I am the Reckoning, the Great Purge of Flame." As he spoke, fire spread out from his feet. "My life is a tool, one utilized by the gods for the good of all intelligent life. I am the Just Flame, the Bringer of the Light of Balance. Let my body be a torch, one that will stand as a beacon to all good things." A mantle of Flame enveloped Magnus, the fire flowing around him, igniting the interior of the mansion. His voice raised itself into a hoarse scream. "I AM THE FIRST SPARK ON THE TORCH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT I, MAGNUS DUNDRAGON, SACRIFICE MYSELF TO PURGE THIS PLACE OF ITS EVILS, AND UNLEASH THE PHOENIX ONCE MORE. IGNIS AETURNUS." The flames enveloping Magnus burst out, lighting the entirety of the mansion on fire. Streaks of flame flew forth from Magnus' fingertips, igniting the doors, the drapery, the staircases, carpets, everything. As the mansion burned, the image of a Phoenix rose from the flame, and streaked up towards the sky. Magnus sacrificed himself to end the kidnappings.
[OOC: I have to apologize, but I felt like this PbP was losing attention. The update rate is too infrequent, and the challenge rating of the first encounter was really off-putting. I appreciate that Magnus managed to live on for a short while, but after careful reflection, I have elected to withdraw from Adventures in Faerun. As I am now running my own campaign (technically two, but set concurrently in the same world), and engaged in 3 more PbPs, I have found that I need to eliminate one from my time, as I have recently gone full time into my previously part time job. This one didn't have much effect on my schedule, but it felt emptier than the rest. Magnus lived on far longer than he should have, having died in round three or so of the first encounter. I would like to again voice my appreciation of allowing me to continue play, but I feel as if I must withdraw. I wish you the best of luck on this adventure, and on many more in the future.]
[Side note: Magnus' actions are 100% feasible, by use of the Ignite, Mantle of Flame, and Fire Bolt abilities. I added a little more in theatrics, as is my style, but this is 100% possible. If the plot is horribly derailed because of this, I am tempted to say let it be so, but since I am no longer playing, I would like to provide this alternate ending (should the DM prefer it)]:
Magnus looked about, and sighed. "Friends, I have to say, I'm normally not one to back down from a challenge, but I feel as if my days of mercenary work are over. My actions in our previous encounter had little effect on the outcome, and I must say, that really is a downer. Seriously. I'm going to head back to town, and maybe pick up some work in the tavern. I make a good cook, you know. But in order to prevent these kidnappings from happening again-" Magnus touched his hand to the floor. "-I would like to say, 'to hell with it.'" With that, Magnus Ignited the floor, causing the fire to rapidly spread around the mansion. "You may act as you wish." As the Aasimar stepped out the door of the mansion, a darkness shrouded him. He had truly Fallen from his destiny. [Shift from Protector Aasimar to Fallen Aasimar.]
[OOC: Well I don't know... the DM should check this. I think that its very legitime for you to leave the game, but not to burn the whole house... specially with Khlegar on the basement! ;) I hope someone stops you reminding that there could be kids on the house, and innocent people, so you restraint and go back to the village to have the dinner ready for us when we come back ;) Thanks for that! It's a really kind gesture! ;) nevertheless, sorry to hear you leaving... ]
As you guys prepare yourselves for this great sacrifice you see the flames billow out of control as the house glows with a bright hue.
Khelgar notices the ceiling above him start to light and collapse he realizes that he needs to get out but he also hears a sinister laugh deeper in the flames.
Ooc sorry to hear of your leave I understand the reasoning and I like what you added I liked your character and wish you could stay but I'll honor your request.
The ceiling collapses and was near to bury him in a tomb of burning wood and smoke. The warforged runs towards the stairs, coughing. When he hears the laughing he turns around and look into the flames. It was perharps his imagination? With one feet at the first step, he looks into the now visible main hall across the collapsed ceiling and tries to see something.
The flames change to a cold blue as you see magnus in ethereal being pulled below the basement floor and as if it never happened the the flames are absorbed by the house and the house reform's as if to repair itself it stands Un singed
He checked himself. Was he suffering from some kind of fever due to his recent wounds? No he wasn't. Had he just experienced an illusion form an unknown magic source? That was a high probabilty, but the burning holes on his robe due to the sparking wood that fell upon him when the ceiling fall tells him otherwise. Unless it was part of the illusion too.
Anyway it was difficult to determinate from his current position.
He tried to enter the basement again. If that was what triggered the illusion it should happen again. He went to the point where he saw Magnus in etheral form dissapearing on the floor. He then went to the stairs, to resume his original plan of opening the front door from inside to allow his comrades to enter the house.
He had his weapon ready now, just in case the laugh was from a very real and dangerous source.
Khelgar jumped on his feet when he hears Aer's footsteps behind him. He turns, wahrhammer at the ready. But he relaxs when he recognised his friend.
"My apologies. I thought you could be a potential enemy. I have a question for you. Did you just saw how the entire house erupted into flames, only to see the flames reabsorbed by the very building, along with a disturbing apearence of what it seemd as Magnus's sould beign dragged towards the floor? "
He seems very serious about everything he just said. But it's difficult to say with him.
"Well, we definitely need to be careful when entering this place. I've never seen a building that can repair itself just like that."
He pauses briefly to take this whole event in, the tone of wonder leaves his voice as he looks from the walls to his allies:
"From the front door I didn't notice much other than a pretty nice chandelier that we may want to take and sell later. There was also a staircase leading up and four doors within the room. That's all I saw from the lobby before Magnus told us to get out."

"Interesting. So Magnug did set the house on flames. I must advice extreme caution then, for I heard a dreadful laughter before seeing the incorporeal form of our ally disapearing in that very spot you are standing. " he says naturally. " May i sugest that we explore the upper levels of the house?"
Ghaldrak grasps his maul tightly and heads out of the cellar towards the front door of the house. He rushes through the door again looking to get the drop on anything that may have relocated to the lobby.
[I thought we were at the basement. I must misunderstood it. ]
" May I suggest we return to the basement where I saw the ethereal form of our former ally disapearing into the floor?. If my calculations are correct we should reach it throught that door over there." He points to the door that he saw from the other side when he tried to reach the main group when he was on the cellar.
