Barosh turns and begins to rummage through his bag. As he is doing so he casts minor illusion and on a piece of paper creates a fully fleshed out document stating his name, race, gender, profession, town of birth (a fake one), and whatever official markings are necessary.
The woman's unseen eyes widen under her hood, and she fishes around in her cloak for something. She pulls out some papers that state her name as Kanya, and include her race(vedalken), gender(female), profession(apothecary person thing), town of birth(middleofnowheresville(not really though, I'm just too lazy to come up with a name)), and whatever else is needed.
For DM:
It's a fake, made by her criminal contact, which helped her escape after the Aether incident(which I need to get around to describing more than just 'yeah this happened' in a backstory which has become obsolete because I switched her archetype).

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
The mans demand to see her papers seems to have caught Kyoka a little off guard, but instead of panicking she simply starts to giggle a little. She retrieves a brown leather coverage from within her rope and then turns to the guard with a dead-serious look on her face, handing him the documents. She pulls back her hair in a gesture of impressive annoyance and then adresses him with a scathing subtone. "My father will hear about this." Kyoka then turns back to the group, her arms crossed to look even more deprecatory.
The documents state her to be Kyoka Thiannôn, a female half-elf born in Yamato. An official guild stamp confirms her to be an established employee of Aetnas renowned Smithery Corporation.
Hawk looks momentarily confused. "Oh. Ohhhhh. I understand now." The construct steps forward and removes a small piece of leather covering his right bicep. Below it are a series of markings.
Nicolette blinks, then offers her own identification, marking her as a member of the Temples and naming her sponsor, Roslyn Honeysapper, a well known engineer and artificer who often traveled the wastes.
"It's an expedition!" she proclaims boldly, and in truth it is. The implied 'Official' isn't left out, so much as it never occurs to the gnome to announce it as such.
"Right," The guard says. " Your papers h'are in h'order. Now, that'll be fifty gold from the h'each of you." He holds out a gloved hand across the desk.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"It is my understanding that certain . . . formalities can be waived for those who are providing a service to the city. The outside world is a fearful place, you wouldn't want some evil warlord to amass an army uncontested, would you?"
(Quick question before any of this, how do you play charm person when they succeed on the saving throw? Do they instantly know someone tried to charm them or would they not notice?)
The man groans and runs his hand through his hair. "H'any number h'of guilds would pay your passage, h'under the right circumstances. The botany guild, the h'archaeology guild, the biology guild... "
The Archaeologist's Guild: The Archaeologist's Guild sponsors adventurers in return for relics and artifacts retrieved from The Waste.
The Mage's Guild: The Mage's Guild sponsors adventurers in return for arcane and magical items retrieved from The Waste.
The Botanist's Guild: The Botanist's Guild sponsors adventurers in return for plants and fauna retrieved from the rare 'green zones' in The Waste.
The Biologist's Guild: The Biologist's Guild sponsors adventurers in return for insect and animal specimens native to The Iron Dominion, retrieved from The Waste.
The Geologist's Guild: The Geologist's Guild sponsors adventurers in return for rocks and metals retrieved from The Waste.
The Monster Hunter's Guild: The Monster Hunter's Guild sponsors adventurers in return for monster specimens retrieved from The Waste, dead or alive.
Independent Sponsors: Independent sponsors might recruit adventurers in return for specific items retrieved from The Waste.
Once an adventurer has joined a guild they are considered a full member of that guild. Guilds are treated as factions, and adventurers can gain ranks and privileges as they progress through their respective guilds.
"Well, I'm rather quite already a card carrying member of the Archaeologist's Guild. It is tied very closely to the Temples, after all." Nicolette looks over her documents. "But, I suppose I don't have an active project approved, so perhaps that's something I can acquire."

"My name is Barosh Savendown. Adventurer on adventuring business."
The guard chuckles. "That's what they all say, innit? Right, identification papers."
The guard proceeds to scan each of your identification papers in turn. (Insert what your identification papers say.)

(darn you guard man)Barosh turns around and reaches into his bag, whispering under his breath and making gestures with his hidden hand.charm personWisdom saving throw, DC 13.(Quick question before any of this, how do you play charm person when they succeed on the saving throw? Do they instantly know someone tried to charm them or would they not notice?)
Charm Person indicates that when the spell ends the creature realizes it was charmed by you, so I assume a successful save has the same result.

"I suggest the Botanist's guild, if we must choose one."

(You are not required to all be sponsored by the same guild. In fact, it might be fun if you were members of rival guilds.)
