Karl replies, “Of course! The protection and maintenance of our villages welfare is of the utmost importance! However, I must inquire as to wether or not we will be compensated for the task.”
The innkeeper then begins shoving Johnnie out of the inn while saying, "Good. Then you'd better get out there and find Joben. I'm pretty sure Chives and Winn got William, Ori and Karl. I want the seven of you here before I tell you what to do."
Winn puts her fist to her chin at Karl's question.
"Oh, I'm not sure," she confesses. "You'll have to ask when we get there. Come on!" She turns and starts heading back to the inn, expecting the other two to follow.
William grimaces at Chives. “Yes, I do hate rats. I suppose if we don’t go take care of them, they will spread diseases and get into the village food stores.”
William picks up his hand axe, “Let’s get to is Miss Chives!”
Orianna who was with her dad and quietly listening to the situation finally speaks up as William is about to leave. "Do want me to stay here and continue chopping down this maple tree or would you like me to come with you to help with the rat problem?"
“Why don’t you come into town for the day, we can take the day off. I don’t want you anywhere near these rats, though.” He pulls out two copper pieces and hands them to his daughter. “Here, take this and have some fun today!”
(I assume you took that gold piece from your house since it said that you had gold "In your house" on your character sheet.)
Orianna refuses to take the gold. "Please keep it dad. A copper saved is a copper earned. Though a day off sounds lovely."
I thought the copper in my inventory was gold at a glance, I edited it to say copper. I’ll look over the sheet again for the gold in the hose, though. I must have missed that.
Chives cheers, grasping William's hand. "Let's go smash some vermin!" She skips back to the inn, dragging William behind her.

Moving on since I'd rather not waste too much time BEFORE the actual campaign has started.
Soon, all seven people have been gathered at the inn. The Innkeeper speaks in his usual cold manner.
"Alright. I have a rat problem in my cellar. They're eating everything including the furniture. I need you guys to go out there and find some party of adventurers to kill the rats. You'll usually find them in most towns that are bigger than the village we have here. You might even find some wandering around."
Chives jumps up. "Ok, let's go!" She runs out the door, then realizes she doesn't know where's she's going, and waits for the others.

Karl looks skeptical. “An adventuring party? For rats? That’s neither necessary nor plausible. Most parties have access to much more rewarding, heroic, and important quests than ridding a tiny town of its rats.”
Johnnie stares at William incredulously. "Us? Kill rats? Maybe if I were another 3 drinks in..." at that last remark he winks at the innkeeper and offers his tankard out to him.
"We could... use some kind of trap, perhaps?" Ori offers hesitantly. He wasn't a fan of adventurers, but he also could remember rats eating his last attempt at a trap. He looks down at the bowl and its muddy mixture, and offers with a sigh. "Perhaps some bait?"

Ori gives a brief sigh. Rats. And Karl concerned with money. Go figure.
He gives Winn a shrug. "I... suppose I can help out, sure."

Ori also follows after Winn, now concentrating with a frown on his bowl of mush as they walk. He was sure he could get it to work....

William goes into the house to retrieve his currency and spare hand axe, and heads towards Chives. “Alright, lets get to town, let’s go Orianna.”
Chives cheers, grasping William's hand. "Let's go smash some vermin!" She skips back to the inn, dragging William behind her.

Karl looks skeptical. “An adventuring party? For rats? That’s neither necessary nor plausible. Most parties have access to much more rewarding, heroic, and important quests than ridding a tiny town of its rats.”
“Certainly we lot could handle a few rats, right folks!”
Johnnie stares at William incredulously. "Us? Kill rats? Maybe if I were another 3 drinks in..." at that last remark he winks at the innkeeper and offers his tankard out to him.
The Innkeeper says, "No more drinks until you get the rat problems solved."
He also responds to concerns and says, "Well, there should be some 1st level adventurers who wouldn't mind killing the rats for a silver."
