Clad in the finest garments of velvet brocade, the knights feast at a curved table in the great hall, where twin hearths blaze. There is plenty of food of various varieties on the table with drinks. There are about 20 other knights here, along with Savra Belabranta, the woman knight who answered the door. Thurl Merosska sits at the head of the table. "Honored guests,” he says. “Tell us of your adventures in the Sumber Hills. Let us aid you in any way we can.”
When Carrhae gets in the guest room, she plops herself down on the bed (or whatever piece of furniture is there), kicks off her boots and props her feet up on the bed. "I wasn't lying. These poor things are tired after hiking up here." Then she casts Mage Hand and begins to massage them with it.
At the dinner:
"Well it all started a few weeks ago, when some of our friends turned out to be missing on the road in this region. We conducted an investigation in the nearby towns and were unable to find anything. The people seemed too intimidated of the monks to provide us with any meaningful assistance or information, but as my bard companion said earlier, a trapper was able to give us an account that leads us to believe that they were captured by monks of the Sacred Stone. It's been over a month now and we're getting worried about what the monks are doing, but we're just six people. We aren't some kind of army that can burst in and stop them, not without getting captured at best, or killed at worst. But perhaps some heroic knights with majestic winged mounts might be able to figure out what's going on in the monastery and possibly put a stop to it if their activity is as dark as we fear it is."
After being given a clean bill of health and a chance to clean up the mess that had gotten into her gloves, Mercy had been more than happy for the chance to take a nap and recover the strength the infection had sapped from her. She wasn't sure what to make of this Feathergale Society. On the one hand, they had been surprisingly hospitable on learning that the party had a common enemy in the Sacred Stone monks. On the other, what they had learned in their journeys was that the group had likely taken captive a member of the delegation. To what end, she couldn't be certain. Thus were her thoughts as she rested.
Just before the group reconvened for this "knight's feast," she cast Detect Poison and Disease as a basic precaution. Just because people seemed friendly didn't make them friends.
DaewenDawn will stand guard outside of Mercy’s room while she rests and recuperates, all while keep her eyes and ears pealed for what’s going on around the tower. Does she notice any guards walking around on a set schedule? Or randomly? On no internal guards at all?
The Lord Commander listens to your story, as do the other Knights, with great interest. The Lord Commander says, "Are you, by chance, with the Lord's Alliance?"
Daewen: There are no guards walking around at the moment. Probably because there's a 10th anniversary party going on downstairs that you're not a part of.
Not sensing anything wrong with the food, the rogue felt better about letting her friends eat while they spoke to their hosts. She herself ate slowly and carefully, unaccustomed to this sort of meal and the etiquette that went with it. Mercy sat up straighter at the Lord Commander's question. "We are not affiliated with the Lord's Alliance. However, our friends were traveling with members of that faction when they were attacked. Have you any information about those members of their traveling group specifically? As we've mentioned before, finding people willing to give us any information at all has proven quite difficult, so we would gladly welcome any information you might provide."
"Ah."The Lord Commander nods, sadly. "We had found the dead body of a Knight during one of our patrols. We had hoped it might have belonged to a member of the Lord's Alliance. Forgive me. Please, tell us more of your stories!"
As the Lord Commander is about to answer your question, a scout bursts into the hall, out of breath.
“The manticore, sir! It’s on the move!” He says very urgently.
The Knights around the table stand up in unison, turning to the Lord Commander. The Lord Commander stands, takes his ring off his finger and places it on the table. “This ring goes to the one who kills it!”
The knights, four of them, run to their vultures and prepare to take off. They have extra vultures in case you all want to go with them in this glorious hunt.
Mercy wiped her mouth and stood, pulling out her crossbow. "Never hunted from the air before. Sounds like a fun challenge for us, Carin." She flashed another of her rare grins at her friend as she walks up to one of the extra vultures to figure out how to mount the creature.
Having utilized everything she knew about how to be charming and ingratiating, but then having her humble request emphatically rejected, shattered what little confidence Strife had retained after so many failed interactions. She deferred to her companions who were managing to elicit crucial information.
Strife turned her attention to Savra. She kept staring at the feasting knight, but when their eyes would meet, Strife looked away abruptly and feigned renewed interest in the plate of food before her. After a number of such missed connections, Strife bowed her head forward a tad, seeming to direct her focus toward the table, but lifted her eyes to search once more for those of the cute cultist. When her gaze was met, Strife this time held her stare, her expression conveying the victory of her attraction over her shyness. She lifted her empty fork in front of her and extended her wet tongue, pressing it firm and flat against the metal, slowly dragging it upward, her flesh squeezing softly between the tines, depositing a trail of saliva to trickle downward on to the handle, before finally reaching the top and enveloping the tip in a puckered kiss. Strife blinked at Savra with an obviously contrived demure innocence, before giggling and blushing, bowing her head further forward to slip free of her quarry's eyes.
When the manticore alarm was given and Savra raced for her mount, Strife hurried after her, and as the knight secured herself in the saddle, Strife's expression made her wish to accompany Savra perfectly obvious.
Mercy gave the giant vulture a quick once-over and slowly held her hand out to it. “I’m not too good with animals, but I’m gonna need your help with this.”
Zephyr had continued to eat when she heard the call of the creatures sudden arrival, wanting to not seem rude (like some people) and not finish the meal in front of her. The changeling has her broom, so if all the vultures were taken, there wouldn't be a huge problem. She looks at the ring on the table with slight interest, seeing if it was anything special and worth to fight for.
Investigation (?): 2
Regardless, she will dab the corners of her lips with a napkin once she finished her food and hop on her broom, calling the activation term (a cheerful 'yip yip') to get the item going and takes off after everyone else.

MANTICORE HUNT
Savra looks at Strife with a combination of shock and curiosity, startling out of it when the lookout barked. She keeps looking back at you, trying to figure out your intention as she mounts her vulture. Three Feathergale Knights plus Savra assemble at the pinnacle, each mounted upon a giant vulture. The moon illuminates the misty canyon below Feathergale Spire. In the far distance, a single shard of darkness moves, flitting in and out of the mist. Then the shadow sinks beneath the bank of clouds, lost again from sight. The manticore hunt takes place in the skies above the Sighing Valley - basically a huge canyon at night.
TWO GROUPS, TWO ROLLS: Three Knights and Savra have taken wing on giant vultures to hunt the manticore. They stay together as a group, in tight formation. Carrhae, Mercy, Strife, and Zephernoodle form the second group, and stay somewhat together. You are all searching for the manticore as a group. At the end of each minute spent searching, each group of hunters (Knights and the PCs) in the canyon roll a d20, adding 1 for each character or knight in the group. Any group that rolls a total of 18 or higher comes within 100 feet of the manticore. Any and all groups that find the manticore can engage it in battle and the chase is over. If the knights find the manticore first, they blow their horns so that you guys can pinpoint the knights’ location and join the battle.
ANIMAL HANDLING The Knights are expert riders. You are not. Each minute that passes you must roll an Animal Handling roll. Any animal handling roll of 5 or less gets you out of the chase, and out of the eventual battle. You cannot "HELP" each other on the Animal Handling roll, either.
Here is an example of what the minutes will look like

As Carrhae watches Strife mount the vulture with Savra, she feels a pain in her chest. I suppose I can't get too angry with her, since she has yet to decide if she wants to go further. But she could've at least said no. She resolves to at least beat Savra and get the ring.
