Horatio Hirschfeld - Squire imbued with fae powers, in the Coliseum of Conquest (W2/L1) DM for Reavers of Harkenwold, and sometimes The Fighting Grounds of the Coliseum
You can control a mount only if it has been trained to accept a rider. Domesticated horses, donkeys, and similar creatures are assumed to have such training. The initiative of a controlled mount changes to match yours when you mount it. It moves as you direct it, and it has only three action options: Dash, Disengage, and Dodge. A controlled mount can move and act even on the turn that you mount it.
(That's why I choose for my mount to be independent. JCraw Tweet)
PHB (emphasis mine): An independent mount retains its place in the initiative order. Bearing a rider puts no restrictions on the actions the mount can take, and it moves and acts as it wishes. It might flee from combat, rush to attack and devour a badly injured foe, or otherwise act against your wishes.

(@Persuasion: Adv is from disadvantage from hiding, maybe. I included it so that you could add it as disadvantage or advantage when it was needed. Ignore it if it's not needed. I used adv as a neutral term that you can choose to be positive or negative)
(@Keneux: It may prove to be a tactically sub-optimal move, but It was certainly fun doing it, and isn't that what we are here for?)
(Also stupid mobility like that is basically the only reason I miss Gewonnt.)

(Ah, ok. Since it’s impossible to hide from an enemy that can see you, there’s no disadvantage on your attacks)
(Also, are you bringing your horse with you when you Misty Step?)
Library Round 1:
Scarab kicks off the round with a burst of immense speed, traversing the entire arena in a heartbeat. His first strike barely connects, seeming only to scratch Sarah before flaring with radiant light. His second blow misses entirely. (Sarah, make a DC 10 Con save to keep PWT)
(Just me, I'm currently running on 3 hours of sleep due to procrastination shenanigans)
Library Round 0:
All competitors witness Barosh wearing a turtleneck and the same glasses as the secretary in Monsters Inc.
"Welcome, and welcome back, to the Underground Coliseum! Make sure to use your indoor voice while screaming in agony, this is a library after all."
"Please raise your hand when I call your name.
Runthiel Steelfist! Please try to keep your anger under control.
Scarab on Pride! This isn't a church, if you're going to distribute pamphlets or something do it outside.
Sarah Sharlier! Where are you? This isn't funny young lady!
Swigg Mgoo! Keep your music down! Put some headphones on!"
Runthiel will be matched with... 1 Scarab.
Scarab, you smell the most disgusting thing you've ever smelt, and look over and see a lich staring intently at you.
(Runthiel and Scarab are up)
Can Sandy (my warhorse) open or knock down doors?

(Unfortunately, no)
(@Persuasion: Even Find Steed ones? They are supernaturally smart and have that whole mind thing with their paladins.)
When you realize you're doing too much: Signature.

(Based on the description, sure she can do the smack)
(Athletics or attack to smack door?)

(it'd have to be an attack, since she can't really turn the knob, and forcing the door is essentially breaking it)
Sandy gallops away, with Scarab on his back from the smell, to H11 and dodges.
Scarab thanks Sandy, then steps through the mist to F16. He waves to the cloud of purple smoke, then walks to B16 and stabs at Sarah.
