"I think we just look around and see what we can see, aye?" Zakon says. He shakes Theo's hand, then begins to move off through the brush, alert for anything that seems off.
Kelvinnods, look around to get his bearings. Deciding that the wooden sigils in the trees is clearly important somehow, and frustrated that he seems to be out of his element so soon is his travels, Kelvincasts mage hand and uses it to remove one of the sigils from a nearby tree and carry it down.
I’ll give everyone a chance to roll before revealing results. But, Theo, could you do a history check among your things? You did know what the effigies were after all.

History 14
DM request for roll regarding effigies. Effigies! the word that escaped me and I kept calling them symbols or icons. Effigies mean they represent someone ...
Well, I did say they represented the head of the elven pantheon, so yeah, they are technically effigies. Icons even would have fit.
[Alright, since Zakon pretty much dominated the investigation rolls, I'll save us some trouble by providing him any useful information]
Zakon: Your years on the road have left you with a gift for tracking just about anything: people, animals, anything. You're quickly able to spot two sets of footprints in the area, likely Vall's and Eryn's. You can see where Eryn's smaller prints stick to the area and just seem to wander, but Vall's lead off toward the stream just ahead, exactly like how his sister had described. At least you know now that you're on the right track. You also spot a light spot in the underbrush of the woods. Sweeping the dirt away, you find what looks like what might have been a part of a stone path. It appears there may have been an old road here long ago. Looking ahead, you see a few more edges of these stones, though much of the path has been worn away from years of neglect. They lead northeast, meaning if you follow them, it is possible you might get to this mysterious building a tad quicker.
Kelvin:It appears as if there is nothing remarkable about the bundle of sticks in your hand. It was a likely outcome, you figured, but it was worth a try. More than likely, these items served more of a symbolic purpose rather than an actual magical one.
Theo: As you had known earlier, the use of these items was something seen in the area over a hundred years ago before the sudden civilization boom in Goyag. Symbolic representations of the gods such as these were not uncommon and found scattered throughout the land. Large clusters of these usually indicated the nearby location of a temple or a pilgrimage spot.

Spotting the gnome kneeling in the underbrush, Kelvinwalks over curiously to see what he's examining. "How old are those stones, do you think?" heasks Zakon, his eyes wide. This is just the reason he chose Goyag for his refuge, aside from its neutrality; a chance to study ancient and mysterious history, and potentially magicks. "Viaya" hesays, straightening up and turning toward the elf."What do you know of any ancient elvish society in this area?
He'll also make a history check on the road, as well as looking for any inscriptions or markings.

Zakon points out his finds to the rest of the group. “Look here - these are likely Vall and Eryn’s tracks. Vall’s tracks seem to lead to the stream. And look, there’s an old stone path or road here. Perhaps following it will lead us to some answers,” he says.
Kelvin: The road is old, that much is certain, but it's hard to see anything of particular help to narrow down exactly how old it is. You do, however, spot another starburst symbol carved into the corner of one of the stones. Whoever hung up the stars in the trees are likely the same people who built this path.

“I think it would be prudent for Viaya and I to scout ahead a bit, just in case, aye?” Zakon says. He looks over at Viaya. “There is clearly something here and I, for one, would like to find out what it is,” he says. He narrows his eyes thoughtfully. “I wonder if there are more of these starburst symbols as we go?” He begins looking to see if he can spot any more.
"Friends," Kelvinsays, looking around at his rag-tag rabble of recent relations. "I'm no elf, nor can I claim to be much of a proper historian, but it does seem as though this road is also a remnant of whatever tribe or group left these sigils in the trees. You said these children were playing in this area? I think it's a safe bet that whatever ails them might be related to these elvish vestiges; at the very least I think exploring further down this road is the right move forward." Kelvin meets the gaze of each of his companions, raising his eyebrow inquisitively. "What say you? If we need I can scour the area for traces of magic"

Perhaps you can scour and they can scout for a few moments. Prudence may serve us well, but there is a young boy afflicted so we should soon proceed. Theo adjusts his pack and straightens his cossack that covers his chain mail. Getting ready for another hike. I can scavenge for some food if any are hungry.

Outlander
Feature: Wanderer
You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.
"Aye, sounds like we have a plan then. Follow that path and see where she may take us, and hopefully to solve the sickness of the wee child you mentioned,"Ruggero says as he steps forward towards the stone path. He looks at Zakon and Viaya and flashes a mischievous grin. "If you two don't mind, I'd like the scout up ahead with the both of ya. If there is something to this I don't want to be caught with my pants down like in Kolovoro."
