The Magister redirects you to the quartermaster for supplies, and while they don't have maces for everyone, a few branches from the trees can serve as clubs. One you are all ready, the Magister leads you up the river in the island, merely saying "A valley of sorts." After thirty minutes or so of walking, he stops, bending to the ground. "We're here," Magister Albrecht rumbled. He stomps on the ground with one foot, and with the sound of creaking gears, the ground beneath you begins to descend down a rusty metal shaft. A quick glance at where the Magister had stomped reveals a switch of sorts, only identified by the difference in color from the ground around it. "Be on your guard. I know not of where we are from this point on."
After a few minutes, you see the shaft give way to a darkened hallway, large enough to fit a dragon through it. Magister Albrecht feels around on the wall for something, and with a soft click, the room is illuminated in a flash of light. Hundreds of continual flames provide light from along the walls. The ceiling, while it has broken down over the years, is covered in a beautiful mural depicting a great battle of some sort. The colors, dulled by time, still come through as vibrant as ever. Down at the other end of the hall is huge stone door, intricately carved with similar images as on the ceiling.
[Sorry about the wait. I had a class start just as I was about to write posts for both this party and War Party A, and then I had to work late almost immediately afterwards.]
"That was rather impressive Magister Albrecht have you been here before?" Val ask as he view the rather quick and adept way that the loxodon found the mechanism on the wall to produce the lights along the wall. Also looking at the murals on the wall and around the room for any threats or depictions of the battle that he may know of stealthily.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Saryn
Saryn follows the group up to the door as quietly as she can. Staying behind them as they check things out. She winks and chuckles when Igden looks back at her. All the while holding her stone battleaxe at the ready.
The door itself is free of traps, as far as anyone can tell. However, Irostine almost manages to step on a tripwire strung in front of the door. The tripwire is probably tens of thousands of years old, but it has remained taut this whole time. The wire appears to travel up one of two statues beside the door that depicts a humanoid creature holding up the ceiling.
As Val examines the mural on the walls and ceiling, Magister Albrecht answers his question. "Not here. There are many similar ruins on the mainland, which I was in charge of investigating. Almost all of them have a switch that triggers the fire glyphs." Val doesn't recognize the battle in particular, but one thing stands out. The combatants appear to include humans, though there couldn't have possibly been any at the time these ruins were made. Humans and Yuan-ti are the youngest races of the world, only dating back a few thousand years. These ruins are much, much older- possibly from before the time of the current gods.
"Should we just step over? Or can someone disable it? I could set it off if you all move back. I'll be just fine while I trip the line to hit my spine.......while drinking some wine." Saryn looks way to happy with herself.
"I think we should avoid the wire and be aware of it when exiting this place, from the looks of the designs my guess would be the roof will collapse if you trigger it."
Dominique let's the tinkerers do their thing. He feels at ease enough to take a bit of a look around knowing there are three bows covering the rear. He has his shield strapped in place and blade unbuckeled but not yet drawn, leaving his sword hand empty for whatever. Nice paint job. Has it anything to do with what we are here for? He examines the statues as he passes them, trying to figure out what race each represents
I think I'm gonna back out of this game guys, lost interest a bit and it isn't fair to clog up a spot. Thanks for running LK and hopefully I'll play with some of you other guys at another point on these forums.

The door itself isn't locked, though it is quite heavy. It will likely take at least two people to open it. Magister Albrecht whispers something to Whistle, and the genasi nods, heading back to camp. "The captain wished to see that one. I received a sending notification, so it must have been important." Turning to Dominique, the Magister nods slowly, saying, "To answer your question, yes. These murals depict those who once created this civilization. I believe this to be one of the many battles that lead to their destruction." Stepping up to the murals, Magister Albrecht gently places a hand on the wall, tracing the intricate designs. "They were a brilliant people, but had far too many disagreements. Wonderful inventors, but their own power led to their own destruction. That is why we are here. To find something to ensure that we will not be destroyed like they were."

Irostine walks up to the door trying to be silent, and tends an ear to check if he hears anything beyond the door.

Igden says he could try to disable the wire but it has been her for thousand years maybe it would be better to just avoid it.
Igden also checks to see if the door is locked.
