Lebenha sat down when his friend put his hand on her shoulder. Not because she wanted to sit, but because her legs failed. She was relieved to know that Alerian will be by her side.
Relieved to see that more, probably braver, people than him stepped forward to aid Ashcaster, Asgar looks to Theven, extends his arm to shake the hand of his new comrade-in-arms.
"It'll be an honor to stand by your side, friend."

Thieven returns his eyes in Asgar's gaze, grasping his hand "Not too fast brave man, til now, we are sharing a mission, only time and actions could set us more than expected"
The wood elf suddenly, turned to the young woman "Are you sure to come my lady?"
"Yes I am" she says" standing again "I could guide you. And let's face it. without me you are going to run into much more trouble " she adds with a smile.
Janikan asks if there will be any more volunteers and as the crowd looks around it becomes evident there will not be. He dismisses the villagers and the hall begins to empty. Lord Tenemal slips through the throng towards you, the disdain in his eyes belying the veil of peasantry shown on his face. When he reaches you he smiles an oily smile.
"There is another pressing matter that is too sensitive for the general masses. As I said your village is a small one and out of the way, here on the frontier. Some at the castle wondered why the baron would bother with you at all. But, it is as I said, the baron cares for all his subjects. Now, he comes to you, through me, his voice, to ask you something of grave import. The old sorcerer was guarding an ancient magic, and now the baron fears that it might fall into the hands of bandits or looters. So while ridding this evil from the land should be your gravest concern, the baron would consider it a great favor if you could retrieve this item and return it to me, or even your reeve if you wish, so it can be brought to the castle for safe keeping."
And with that he meets each of your gazes coming to rest last on Lebenha's gaze, which he holds a beat longer than the rest.

Asgar looks around at his newly acquired teammates.
"Not to speak out of place, Lord Tenemal, but if we're to take care of more than one problem at a time, the compensation should reflect that, should it not?"
He takes a second look at Lebenha, while awaiting a response.

That is a really nice roll, too bad I have no idea what is for. So that everyone is on the same page, the way things work is you describe what you WANT to do and HOW you want to do it and I will decide what skill needs to be checked if any. I have a different theory about die rolls than most DMs.

(Whoops, I wanted to take a close examination of this seedy character and see if there's anything off other than his general disposition - clothes, mannerisms, a small bit of grave soil that would imply he's been digging in a graveyard recently, etc.)

Okay, and I would consider that a perception check. However, a natural 20 would reveal nothing obviously improper about Lord Tenemal. He just appears to be a snobby nobleman.

ooc (@Frandal: maybe I'm wrong but I think that Lord Tenemal and not Janikan, holds the gaze on Lebehna so maybe you can edit the post)
ooc2 (@DM: Thieven, before the peasants go out, wants to carefully observe them and try to flush out any equivocal signs. He think that almost anyone knowing that undeads are infesting his village, will be concerned, frightened or even more. He wants to catch if someone doesn't seems to feel or show these feelings.)
Thieven, scrubbing around political manners, directly address to Lord Tenemal "It seems that this magical relic is more important than peasant souls, so Lebehna hold the point, for what we are looking for precisely? And than, since it has to be kept safe, I think that we should return it from the baron, if you don't mind.."
"Anyway, I will not leave Ashcraft before shutting down this curse"
Tenemal's face twists into a slight smirk at the druid's comments, but his voice has an icy edge, "The baron did not go into detail with me about the item in his wisdom. All I know is that it is some sort of amulet. If you find it you may return it to the reeve or myself. I AM the voice of the baron and I speak on his behalf. The baron graciouslyrics accepts your assistance and is heartened by your zeal. Now I will delay you no longer."
With that Tenemal shoots each of you an icy glare and quickly turns to depart.
"Well " replies Lebenha " We'll keep an eye open for some sort of amulets of inmense power."
" I say we should depart tomorrow, very first thing in the morning, here at the entrance of the town's hall ok?. I will go to the temple and check for some holy water for all of us to bring along. "
With that the young woman left the town's hall and goes to the temple to look for the priest and see how much holy water she can collect.

Alerian slips out behind Lebenha, "I don't like him. There's just something off. Like a castle built in the middle of a swamp." [Monty Python refererence for everyone :P] Alerian always felt ill at ease in crowds acting as Lebenha's shadow just felt right. Cities were no place for him, but they were always in need of some good. A necessary compromise.

Leb nods at his friend remark. "Yep. Something's wrong with that guy. I tell you something. If we ever happen to find that... amulet or whatever, I say that we ride to the Baron's castle and found more about it before we say we have it. What do you think?"
ooc (@DM: I think that my attempt to use Insight on the crowd was too late right?)
Thieven almost whispering to the ranger "Me too Alerian, he seems to have the attitude of a noble spoiled child, anyway" rising the tone "Before our morning meeting i'd like to have a look at Poffer's spoils and animals bodies, just to have a better idea on what we are going to face with..."
Ivan, your observation of the crowd was not too late, it is just there was nothing to glean. So since I knew you wouldn't learn anythingthere was no need for a die roll. I have three requirements in order for a die roll to be made. 1st, there has to be a chance of success; 2nd, there has to be a chance of failure; 3rd, there has to be a cost or consequence to trying again.
Sire Janikan turns to you, "Well the animals have been destroyed and the other victims buried but you can examine old Poker if you like, he hasn't been buried yet."

"This whole thing stinks of magic gone wrong. I get a suspicious feeling that the Baron's Second wasn't just in town for the amulet as a coincidence. 'Sorry to hear about this mist, mind swiping an amulet for me?' Too shady, too likely for his type. Leb, you and I can acquire the holy water." Alerian turns to the others, realizing he never got their names, "Would you two mind examining the body? Leb gets into trouble without me and unless there's animal wounds on the body, I can't be of much help there."
"As for what to do with the amulet, I'd sooner turn it over to the priests. Like I said, connection between a killer mist and a missing, possibly magical amulet? Too likely."
