Ooc: I would think 2ish hours? He said probably an hour that we’ve been walking.

Neither of you get any special insight on your survival other than the breeze is coming from the passage that leads upward. You guys head that way and even though this passage is slightly bigger you still have to go in marching order. You all make your way up the few stairs and the passage starts bending to the left. Continuing on Vail is the first one to come up shot as the passageway end into this. (without the lights and the gates) It extends up and down as far as anyone can see with openings branching off both up and down.

"Well. Can we get up or do we just try down? "

Saada searched the tunnel above them, looking for any signed of a ledge or light.

OOC: would this be Investigation, Perception, or Survival?

(You can give me a perception roll. When in doubt though if you want to check something out you can roll 1d20 and say apply whatever skill. I'm fine with that)

Looking up you don't notice any ledges but looking down you see what looks like reflected firelight coming from deep below.

"Looks like someone's has a fire going at the bottom." Saada quietly says as she peers over the edge.

Do we have any way to safely descend?

"Quietly "

Tordal glances sidelong at Estes and shakes his head. "Vail, the light should be fading from your weapon soon, it usually doesn't last more than an hour and Tauriel... Try to be be a little worried than our last cave encounter!"

"I have about 50 feet of rope, but I don't know if that will reach."

“I’ve got some rope as well. We can tie them together with a square knot. It can’t be more than 100 feet. If one of you would belay me, I could climb down.

the sword shouldn’t be a worry Tordal. I’ll keep it sheathed until it’s necessary. I say we do it. We’re one of these ******* sink holes, our lives we practically given up at this point.”

Athletics: 20 

Ooc: athletics check is for the climb btw. I intend to hbe them wean the rope around my waist just to belay me down so I can climb. Should be looking at combined 100 feet

Tauriel, filled with overconfidence from her last attempt at jumping down high distances, leaps down and attempts to grab and jump between the walls to slow her fall, ignoring the rope entirely. (Cmon please don't die o_o" )

She does try to be quiet and does this wordlessly and carefully makes sure no rocks fall with her.

Stealth 20

(If im going to be honest, I didn't read Tordal's warning until after the fact...)

Vail you get the ropes tied together and tie them around yourself. (Who's going to belay him down? You can have as many folks helping as you'd like. Sinjin will not be helping :)

While Vail is getting everything set to be lowered down Tauriel starts free-climbing and is doing it fairly quietly.

Tauriel you make your way down about 25' passing 4 tunnels leading out of the shaft. There's nothing you can see in those tunnels as you pass. As you're approaching a 5th tunnel close to 30' from where you started you can see something in the tunnel, just slightly illuminated from the flicker light from below. It looks to you to be a dark greyish skinned dwarf. It's leaning against the tunnel wall packing a pipe.

Estes will help with the ropes.

Saada will help belay as well.

Estes and Saada can certainly hold Vail together and he starts to climb down. The climbing is no problem Vail. Want to give me a stealth check? As you make your way over the edge you see Tauriel pausing in her climb below you looking at something.
