Halizthan will begint to look around, relying on his eyepatch for visible perception enhancement but will also hold his hand up to get the party to stop. "Let me know if you hear anything." He says as his hands move in a strange way, this being the sign language all drow learned.
You get a very bad feeling. Not only is it quiet but there are NO sounds of wildlife. You feel like there's an apex predator near. Scanning the area you see some trees start to bend on the edge of the cliff above you as you get a faint whiff of sulfur.
"All of you get ready... Something bad is coming this way quickly. Seeing the strange thing coming near and with the strange smell he will ready himself to cast as quickly as possible.
Rend will leap off of Herbert and draw his spear and shield, motioning to herbert to back away from the moving trees "Stay out of the way Herbert, I don't want you getting hurt..." The kobold would whisper.
Kleesal hops off his mount grabs Herbert and says "The mounts are going to bolt" right before you see a large red scaled head with smoke trailing from it's snout come out of the trees on the cliff above you.
ooc: We can have a bit of conversation. I'll give you guys a couple one liners but then it's going to have to be on your initiative. I don't want to burn initiative with dialog unless you choose to do that on your turn.

Such vain little creatures. Blocking your way indeed. I am not hungry but I am on the hunt. I just found different prey than expected.
OOC: it's fine I was waiting to see what it was before attempting to talk with it but both initiative and what it was both kinda came together....Red Dragon are evil by nature I'm sure it doesn't want to really talk anyhow....lol...so no need to hold things up

Halizthan will curse and begin to cast, using his Metamagic to cast Blight as a bonus action on the creature before following it up with his Chill Touch cantrip.
Blight: 37 or half as much if they pass a dc 17 con save.
Chill Touch: Attack: 19 Damage: 6
(I burned two sorcery points to use Quicken Spell.)

Once you start making your way around the cliff and the sound of the waterfall fades you notice it's oddly quiet.
