(I tried looking in the past posts but can't remember the last watch order. I think Halizthan was on last watch? Felicity probably won't be posting during the day. Mid-terms)
During the shift change Halizthan greets Rend. How goes it, see anything kind of thing. Rend says 'Nope, all clear" while Halizthan looking out can clearly see some kind of goblinoid looking creatures making their way towards where the steam was coming from down below you. They are quiet distant and don't pose a threat but seem to be headed towards your destination.
Halizthan will watch the creatures closely but will not do anything until they get in range of his spell. If they seem hostile he will then begin to cast.
They do not notice you guys up on the ledge and continue to make their way away from you towards the steam. You estimate around a dozen have passed by before they disappear into the night.
"Maybe they warship the dragon... I mean.. that is pretty common really." Rend will say spinning the ring on his finger as he looks to the others. "We may have to fight more than just a dragon in that cave..." The kobold would mutter before grabbing his spear and shield. "Welp! No time like the present! Tessa will be thrilled to hear about our victory!" The kobold would shout as he bounces towards the cave.
With morning rolling in you're all rested and ready to depart. You're all going to have to decide how to get down. You can choose to repel down (or rig the broom) or traverse along the edge of the cliff looking for another way. Where you are now and for maybe 100' in both directions along the top of the cliff the water has undercut the cliff so you can't really climb, you'd have to rely on the rope.
"Well what do you all propose to do. We could take turns going down on the broom but I would not relish the idea of being caught in mid air by a dragon." Halizthan says as he he dusts himself off xespite the facd his clothes won't get dirty.
Rend would begin pulling out his climbing gear. "I didn't spend good money on this for nothing, I think we need to repel down... should be the fastest way if we call go down together at the same time..." The kobold would say with a smile, working to setup an anchor in the rock face.
OK, So there's a couple issues/challenges with getting down. There's not a way for everyone to go down at the same time. Here's the deal:
You'll need to tie all your ropes together into two 100' lengths to repel down.
Only Rend has a harness but you can make other harnesses out of 10' sections of rope without too much difficulty. The issue is you estimate it's 50' to the bottom so Each harness you make will leave you 5' short of the bottom. (To lower yourself down safely you'll be looping the rope through the anchor and lowering yourself so you need twice the distance of rope)
It's not difficult getting down the cliff itself it will be athletics DC10
The repel will not work the same way as the climbing kit usually does because you can't get anchors in further down the cliff face. If you fail your check we'll be splitting a 1d100 roll for the distance you fall.
Only one of you can take the broom at a time because of weight restrictions having the dragons wings still tied to the broom.
Felicity looking at Halizthan says "You don't really look like you've got the build of a climber. Maybe you should take the broom?"
Rend will pull out his 50ft length of rope and secure one end to the cliff. "Anyone got another rope? Hopefully we have more than one more so we can make additional harnesses for you all.. unless one of you wants to hold on tightly to my back while I go down.. I suppose I could take trips up and down with one of you on my back at a time maybe? I am stronger than I look after all" The kobold would say with a wink and a toothy grin.

Halizthan just needs four hours so he can take any watch from first to last.
OK, So we'll do J'Anna, Felicity, Rend, Halizthan.
Rend and Halizthan you can both give me perception checks on your watches.

Halizthan will mark that he saw them, letting the others know as they wake up.
*yawn* "Huh, well that sounds like it's gonna be fun. Let's hope they poke at the Dragon enough to make it easier for us!"

"We could follow this ridge also and maybe find a way down over a bit." J"Anna says

"Ok lets do it, one way or another we need to get moving and get off this cliff." J'Anna nods approval.
"I am not best climber but if I must..." Halizthan says as he waits for them to set up the climbing gear.
