As Mobya notices the scroll on the bottom of the basket, she asks Morn for help reaching it (since her arms are very short she wouldn’t be able to do itwithout her falling head first into the basket)
Silv'ar - As you kneel down to inspect the tracks, you realize that one of the tracks is clearly that of a large dog pressed into the soft soil heading toward the surface behind you, and you also nearly put your hand in a large mound of smelly green and brown [...well you get the idea]. Make a constitution saving throw. [roll a d20 and add the appropriate ability modifier.]
Morn - As you reach down next to the small pale yellow goblin baby to grab the scroll, the small creature reaches out and touches your thumb softly and reaches after you as you pull your hand back out. As you unroll the scroll, a sharp voice behind you and Mobya cuts through your focus on the babies. [I will add what you see on the scroll in the next post.]
"Wil, wit er yeh uhl fihndihn' bahk heere?" as he walks up to the basket. He looks in and grunts and then looks back at you two. "Beh tinkin' weh beh reedy t' muhv un yit?" putting his hands on his hips. "Weere behmeh luhkuht, dat haflihn? Hees nuht unter dat creyteeyr dere, me hopes."
Morn, as the merchant talks to you, you stand up and unroll the scroll, noticing first the large symbol at the bottom, but then the rest of the parchment appears blank to you.
Back on the road it is about this point that you three see coming down the road still at least 4-500 feet away, two travelers. From this distance, you can't tell much, but one seems tall and bright: the other, in stark contrast, is a black spot on the green forest behind.
Ayra and Wraven
In the distance, you see three large armored men standing in the road just before it turns sharply, but even at this distance you can see lying at their feet multiple creatures and more than a little blood.
The merchant takes it, squints a bit, "dat beh luhkin' like sum serta beert. Deerka teems..." He passes the scroll to Mobya, walks back toward the wagons.
Seeing these two figures walking down the path towards us, i will raise my voice loud enough for the merchant, morn, and mobya to hear;
"Aye! we got some company coming across yonder horizon, i think you should hide the contents of that basket inside one of the wagons if you wish to ensure their safety for now"
At this time, turning to see that Silv'ar is missing from sight: "Where's Silv? Don't tell me he went down that blasted hole."
Mobya looks at the parchment but hears Alesandair’s warning about hiding the babies and goes on high alert. She pets their heads gently and whispers to them “please be quiet, time for a nap” and closes the basket flap over their heads. She very much distrusts the Merchant and don’t want him even near the basket if she can help it.
Morn as a human without darkvision, you can go about 20 feet before you move in to significant darkness and are inching along solely by touching the wall and using your ears as you listen for echoes. The point of light at the tunnel entrance behind you slowly diminishes.
Silv'ar, you begin to wretch at the sight and smell, as your diaphragm involuntarily forces upward, but your natural resolve takes over and forces your gag reflex to submit.
As I cover my hand over my mouth I decide that I have gone far enough and turn back heading towards the surface, seeing my fellow party member on the way.
“Look, up ahead!” Ayra exclaims to her companion as three men come into view on the road. She imagines that men encountered on the path to the raven queen must have great stories of adventure to share!
Her enthusiasm is dampened though as she makes out the slaughtered creatures lying at the men's feet. And as the party appears to detect their approach, one assumes on a fighting stance and is drawing his weapons. “It does not appear that they are here to escort is to your raven queen,” she observes.
Storing his, weapon to show passivity, acknowledge the claim and responds "We were traveling along this path and came upon this..." Looks off at the bodies and kind of zones out for a second.."This so-called trouble that you spoke of. The problem seemed to be solved with the spill of a little blood, but at little to no cost to us."
*Trying to convey that we are formidable warriors in hopes of staving off an attack, should they be not who they say they are.*

Passes the scroll around, and asks "Does this mean anything to anyone?"
" I think we finish our escort job and bring the younglings into town, maybe someone there knows what the symbol means"
The merchant takes it, squints a bit, "dat beh luhkin' like sum serta beert. Deerka teems..." He passes the scroll to Mobya, walks back toward the wagons.

when the two walking at us are within a reasonable distance, I shout at them:
"State your business and come no closer"
Wraeven
Comes to a stop. He warily puts his hands out, shows they are empty.
"We were alerted that there was some trouble on the road." He nods to the bodies at his feet, "what's your business?"
Glad to meet everyone, following your exploits! Thanks for adding us to your adventure.
