“Very well...” Grol says as he rises Morningstar swings behind him.
”Snarl... Watch him.” Grol motions as Snarl moves and sits above the dwarf. Bits of slobber dripping down from its jaws.
Grol hesitantly at first then confidently approaches you making no hostile moves.
“They will approach the main gate. When no sentries call out to them, they will be on their guard. There should be four hobs and two wolves at their side. You have seen how our defenses work. How would you like to proceed?”
"As far as I have heard, it is only Targor that plans on betraying you. The other three may still loyal to you. When they approach, call out to them from the gates. Order them to execute him immediately. That is the only way. If you leave Targor alive, he may convince them to join you. If they hesitate, then you know they were planning on betraying you as well. You must show your strength and in order to keep your role as King. If they choose to attack, we have the combined strength to slaughter them all."
Fawn and Halben provide overwatch from the south tower watching the wood. King Grol and Cypress the two beasts set up in the hallway. Around twenty minutes pass(Cypress will have 30 minutes remaining in Hyena form so should be good for this fight). After a time Fawn's Ranger eyes begin to spot movement along the road. Three hobgoblins follow behind another Hobgoblin. He is huge! More like a bugbear than Hobgoblin but a Hobgoblin indeed. This must be Targor Bloodsword. Two wolves pat around through the troop. They do not approach stealthily as this is their home base.
However, as they approach these seasoned warriors see the blood and signs of battle. You see them make use no words. Targor puts a fist up and swings it around. The other three hobgoblins spread out and wolves hunder down. Longswords and shields ready. They approach the kill zone...
King Grol steps slightly forward in the darkness of the gates... "Halt! Targor Bloodsword! Your treacherous plot has been uncovered."
Targor stops dead in his tracks with a look of bewilderment. "Grol! What has happened here? I do not plot against you. You are being foolish!"
King Grol points at him. "I will not hear your treasonous words. You three! Execute the traitor."
The other three Hobgoblins look at each other for a moment. You note that they don't look confused, but like they have indeed been plotting all along.
Targor raises his shield and with a smirk says, "It's treason then. Time to take the throne from the Old Fool."
The Hobgoblins do not know you are here so Fawn, Halben, and Cypress will all get a surprise attack before initiative starts.
Halben witnesses the scene outside and laughs to himself thinking "Bloody hell? I was right the whole time about the betrayal. Well hopefully this wins the trust of the King. Maybe he can give us more information about the drow. If we survive this, I think I have a plan." He then casts a firebolt at the Tagor.
Attack: 25 Damage: 4
(If for some reason I can't hit him due to the Hobgoblin in front, I will aim for the Hobgoblin in front at E,8)
Halben strikes first! He launches a Firebolt from the window that strikes Targor directly in the chest! Unfortunately, Targor's armor takes most of the blow and he takes 4points of fire damage!
Fawn follows up Halben firebolt with a shot of her own! The arrow flies and Targor is too busy getting patting the flames on his chain mail as the arrow comes sailing in and pieces through the links dealing 11 points of damage! Targor is pretty hurt but has fight left in him!
Cypress charges out.. As he does he feels like he saw something watching him from the door at E,29 but as he glances back he sees nothing. It must have been his eyes playing tricks on him. Cypress charges to M,7 and bites the wolf at Q,7. They erupt into a ball of fur and shrieks and gnashing of teeth. Cypress deals 8 damage to the wolf. Blood runs down it's neck. But it's still in the fight!
