You ascend the ladder to the main deck and find it empty. The sun is bright and hot today and gulls cry at one another overhead. The main mast is broken. Its stump casts a fat shadow over the Quarterdeck in the midday sun. Captain Red Skies points to a door set in the Quarterdeck and says "That'll be the Captain's Quarters... And where those sounds came from..." as she draws her pistol and cocks it.
Strife would have picked up the lock box if Lady S. had give. up on unlocking it before investigating the storage room door further (is it still able to be picked or forced open?) Then at the exclamation by the captain, Strife would race up to the quarterdeck to see what was going on.
Strife, I don't think Lady Susanne has given up on it just yet. Since both Strength and Thieves' Tools checks have already been failed, the only remaining options are attempting to smash the lock (3d20 roll) or possibly finding a key.
You see what looks like a moldy shield slowly appear first, a smiling face drawn on the front. The shield slowly lowers and you see the top half of a face of a goblin, dark red eyes beating at you all. A quiet whisper speaks out. "Who me she asks." He mutters to himself before responding. "Who me? Who you?"
Strife, quickly making his way up above deck would rush over to the captains side. "Hey! You better answer the captain's question first buddy!" Strife would shout in between gasps for air after having moved so quickly to get here.
Strife, the door to the storage room was open and Lady Susanne searched it. You just happened to notice that the lock appeared to have been damaged in a way that wasn't caused by the ship wrecking.
The goblin would look toward the strange creature and hide behind his shield again. "Many people!" He shouts then begins to slowly back up before quickly darting inside the captains quarters, moving into a corner and hiding behind his shield, tucked into a little ball.
Captain Red Skies holds a hand up, signaling the party to stop "Damn! I'd rather deal with that thing out here in the open... It seemed a little off. I'm not much for diplomacy. One of you care to try talking to it?"
"Don't worry captain, I am on it" The kobold will say with a toothy grin.
Strife would draw his dagger and orb before walking very slowly towards the door. Once at the threshold, The kobold would slowly stick his head inside. "Hello! We don't plan to hurt you as long as you are friendly..." Strife will say taking a step inside. "I am small... you are small... we both have sharp teeth... we are practically brothers you and I." The kobold will say calmly as he gets closer to the goblin... prepared to slit its throat if this new creature turns hostile.
Seeing the kobold approach the goblin lowers his shield slightly. The smiling face still visible from where the kobold is positioned. "He ask if we want hurt? Yes he ask if we want hurt." He mutters to himself before responding. "We no want to hurt. You want hurt us?"
"We don't want to hurt ya" Strife would say putting his ornate dagger back in his belt but keeping his orb held tightly in his other hand. "We just need to know you arn't going to hurt us... If you help us we will help you... We can be friends..." The kobold would say now taking another step closer and extending his now dagger free hand out for a handshake. "What is your name, my name is Strife...."
"Str...ife" he mumbles to himself, looking at the extended hand. He slowly gets up, moving his shield to his side. "What's name again, ah!" He continues to mumble to himself before responding. "We are Feng. How Feng help?"
Captain Red Skies carefully uncocks and stows her pistol before saying "You can start by coming out here and telling us some things." She waits for Feng to comply, then asks "How did you come to be here? Are you alone? Do you know what happened to the crew of this ship?"
Feng, working his way out will look at the captain. "Alone? Are we alone?" He mumbles to himself then responds. "We alone, yes." He breaks for a moment then continues answering. "How get here? How we get here... Boat, this boat." He stops then looks around the ship. "Crew.... No crew, just us." As he says the last phrase he looks down at his shield.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Strife will hang back in the captains quarters while the goblin talks to the captain... Taking a moment to look around for anything of value or importance.

In case you all were wondering what a Quarterdeck is, it's the raised portion of the ship behind the wheel with the doors set into it.
Lady Susanne will continue to move slowly towards the captains quarters listening and observing for any noises or objects out of place.
The door to the Captain's Quarters swings open on rusty hinges and Cpt. Red Skies raises her pistol "Avast! Who goes there?"
The door stops opening and the deck is quiet for a few seconds but for the wind blowing across it. A small green hand appears on the edge of the door.
"Make yourself known! No sudden movements!" barks Cpt. Red Skies.
Slowly, a goblin steps out into the sunlight.

(What about the storage room?)

"We asked first. You should probably respond, because I don't think that Captain is going to be so nice the next time she asks you who you are."
