"Good call on the not fighting thing..." Strife will say with a smile as he holds his hands up on the air. "I mean.. If I were as big and strong as you I am sure we could have taken them easily" The kobold would say as his eyes move from the large lizardfolk to the surrounding enemy.. and then to his spindly arms. "Too bad I don't think I will ever be nearly as dragonlike as you..." Strife would say with a smile but also a hint of disappointment. Strife would then allow the creatures to lead him to the chieftain.
Strife will whisper to the others in draconic... "If things go badly... I can try to SUGGEST that he let us go..." with a wink.
Vappa, the Grung Chieftan puffs up his chest and eyes you, sizing you up. Being the biggest and fiercest looking of the party, the Chieftan addresses you when he speaks.
"Who... are you? Why do you... trespass on our lands?"
Feng shifts back into his goblin form. He appears on his knees at first then stands up, grabbing a flower pod as he stands up. He will hold it out, presenting it to the female Grung next to the chieftain. He whispers something to himself, then the flower blossoms. "We give you."
As they are being escorted, Vappa will look down to Strife and whisper, "Strength not in size... strength within. Find within, find strength." When he is addressed by the chieftain, Vappa almost groans. Speaking in common was hard enough, now he has to vouch for his comrades. Perhaps, granted they survive this, he could take a speaking class in Waterdeep. "I... am Vappa. We...come to island... search for treasure. Mean no harm to tribe." He gestures to Seldor. "Half-Elf... is comrade. We come together... search for treasure at volcano. Then we leave."
Feng, the female grung smiles and reaches to take the flower. A green skinned warrior Grung croaks and knocks the flower out of your hand with a tall wooden staff. He then slams the staff downward, crushing the flower. He holds his staff out in front of him and stands defensively between you and the female grung.
Vappa, the Chief considers your words for a bit and replies "Your friend.. We sacrifice to please gods... Then..." Before he can continue, the female grung cries out and stands defiantly in between the Chief and Seldor. She says "If you kill him... I run away and give myself to the silent terror!" At the mention of the "silent terror" the grungs erupt into a flurry of chirping, croaking, and chirring. The Chieftain silences them again and says "Every night... Silent Terror come and kill many grung. We sacrifice elf man... Please gods... They not send silent terror any more." The female grung looks to Vappa and says "Lizard man and friends... Help Elf man kill silent terror. Elf man become... Husband!"
"Yeah! Our goblin friend is right!" Strife will say moving closer to the chieftain. "I mean look at how strong our friend Vappa is!" Strife would say jumping up and hanging on one of the lizardfolk's thick arms. "And see the sharp teeth on this goblin! I bet he could bite a sword in half..." The kobold would say pointing to the creatures mouth before moving over to Lady Susanne. "And this woman here! Look at this armor! Why the night terror probably couldn't hurt her if it tried!" Strife would slap the heavy chainmail arrmor and give the chieftain a smile. "So how about it? Can ya let us try to save our friend and save your tribe at the same time? Ya know... Our companion you have is a good fighter too! He would probably rather help kill this beast than be sacrificed I bet" The kobold would say with a wink to Seldor.
All, the Grung Chieftan sits back on his stone throne and silently contemplates your offer. He looks to each of you, judging your appearances as indicators of your martial skill. he then looks to his daughter for a few seconds and says "Bri'Lo'Bri'Tcha..." using her name "If Elf-Man and friends... Kill silent terror... Only then you have my blessing to marry."Princess Bri'Lo'Bri'Tcha (Bri for short) runs to her father and hugs him before backing away and saying "Thank you... Father! Elf-Man and friends will slay silent terror! Then we marry!" The Grung Chieftan stands and says to all "Elf-Man and friends will slay silent terror! The gods will be... Pleased at such an offering! Then, Elf-Man return... Great warrior! Marry Bri'Lo'Bri'Tcha! So says Chief Ko'Gurp'La'Ah!" and the gathering of Gungs erupt into cheers and hoots of celebration.
Vappa, Chief Ko pulls you aside and leads you to a large, ornately decorated wooden hut. Inside the hut, a vast collection of weapons hang on the walls. He selects one and pulls it down. It's a length of wood about the same length as a shortsword. Chunks of razor-sharp obsidian are embedded into the wood along its edges. He hands you the macuahuitl and says "Many I have sent... To slay silent terror in lair... None return... Take this."The vicious looking weapon is made from dark, iron-hard wood. A simple design is carved into it depicting a striped beast with large claws and fangs. The macuahuitl uses the same stat block as a shortsword, but attacks made against beasts have +1 to hit and deal an extra 1d4 damage.
All, you spend the afternoon with the Grungs, taking a short rest. Seldor, Princess Bri stays close to you and doesn't let you out of her sight. When the sun starts to dip below the treetops, Chief Ko calls everyone to the village center. He draws a map in the dirt, showing you the lair of the silent terror. He calls for a Grung shaman to come and bless you all, granting you +3 temporary HP and +1 to attack rolls made for the next hour (Vappa, this stacks with your macuahuitl). Before you depart, Chief Ko says "One must stay..." with a stern-faced countenance. Cpt. Red Skies volunteers and stays behind as you all depart the village in search of the silent terror.
You are all now following a thin trail through the darkening jungle toward the lair of the silent terror. Feel free to discuss your plan of attack or anything else that has transpired recently, as you hike.

(Strife would like to make a history check to know about Grung's? 10)
"Oh man Seldor! Congratulations on finding yourself a beautiful companion!" Strife will say reaching up and slapping Seldor on the lower back. "I hope I can find someone like that some day... Having a mate must be nice..." the kobold would say looking from Seldor to the ground. Once closer to the lair of the beast, Strife would look to the others. So how do you all want to do this?... Do you wall want to lure it out into an ambush? I could try making a large pit and we could try to make it fall in... pit traps are a favorite or mine!" Strife would say with a some what sinister smile. "Or we could try something else.. Whatever you all want to do... I hope this silent terror creature isn't immue to fire..." The kobold would say tapping his claw against his chin.
"Ohhh a wedding!! I can't wait to get!!" back says Lady Susanne, she turns to Strife, "Yes I think luring it out would be a good idea so maybe we can get a look at it before getting thrown into battle with it."
Grungs are aggressive froglike humanoids found in rain forests and tropical jungles. They are fiercely territorial and see themselves as superior to most other creatures.
Grung society is a caste system. Each caste lays eggs in a separate hatching pool, and juvenile grungs join their caste upon emergence from the hatchery. All grungs are a dull greenish gray when they are born, but each individual takes on the color of its caste as it grows to adulthood. From lowest to highest caste, grungs can be green, blue, purple, red, orange, or gold.
All grungs secrete a substance that is harmless to them but poisonous to other creatures. A grung also uses venom to poison its weapons. Grungs are always on the lookout for creatures they can capture and enslave. Grungs use slaves for all manner of menial tasks, but mostly they just like bossing them around. Slaves are fed mildly poisoned food to keep them lethargic and compliant. A creature afflicted in this way over a long period of time becomes a shell of its former self and can be restored to normalcy only by magic. Being amphibious, grungs require water to live; any grung that fails to immerse itself in water for at least 1 hour during a day becomes quite exhausted.
Green grungs are the tribe's warriors, hunters, and laborers, and blue grungs work as artisans and in other domestic roles. Supervising and guiding both groups are the purple grungs, which serve as administrators and commanders. Red grungs are the tribe's scholars and magic users. They are superior to purple, blue, and green grungs and given proper respect even by grungs of higher status. Higher castes include orange grungs, which are elite warriors that have authority over all lesser grungs, and gold grungs, which hold the highest leadership positions. A tribe's sovereign is always a gold grung.
A grung normally remains in its caste for life. On rare occasions, an individual that distinguishes itself with great deeds can earn an invitation to join a higher caste. Through a combination of herbal tonics and ritual magic, an elevated grung changes color and is inducted into its new caste in the same way that a juvenile of the caste would be. From then on, the grung and its progeny are members of the higher caste.
Feng, oversleeping a bit will run up behind as they depart. "We coming! Wait!" As he reaches you all he seems a little out of breath but quickly recovers. "What we do?" He asks. "We slightly afraid."
Feng will grab a budding flower and whisper to himself, making it fully bloom. "Here Seldor, we give you, for bride!" He'll say laughing, he then starts talking to his shield. "They make good pair, love forever."
Vappa is going to get a good view of the area and turn back to his companions. "This mission... like hunt in swamp. All in den...to risky. We flank beast... Go for kill." He will then start to give out positions for his party; Seldor to E5, Feng to L11, Lady Susanne can stay where she is, and Strife to O6. Once everybody is in position, Vappa will sneak in alone.
"Seldor, When you guys mate, I would make sure you use some kind of barrier or something... I think that they have poisonous skin... so no skin to skin contact ok!" The kobold would say with a gin before muttering to himself "I wish I had a cute princess want to marry me..." A moment later Strife would look to lady Susanne "I can be pretty sneaky if you need me to try to scout the area.." The kobold would say looking to the others.
"Good call on the not fighting thing..." Strife will say with a smile as he holds his hands up on the air. "I mean.. Seldor just glares at his companions. "I'm walking into the ******* sea before marrying a frog-woman."

All, you reach the area that Chief Ko said the lair would be. Up ahead through the trees, you see a cliffside with a large dark opening in it.
What would you like to do?
"Anyone stealthy want to creep up and see if the cave goes in or the beast is near and we can lure it out?" Susanne asks.
