This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jorin will keep a look out for anyone coming up towards the building, since Hildi is going around it, while casually trimming his nails via handaxe. Perception: 14
Crap, this perception roll was supposed to be Performance, lol
OOC > You guys don't look suspicious at all. Pascal, while you are in the Dock Ward, you are nowhere near the water. You're in a small alley with tall buildings on either side at about one in the morning. I'm going to be late with my update today, maybe more like noon or 1 pm.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
(OOC: When Pascal was talking about a red log in the bay, I thought he dropped a deuce in the water after eating too much spicy food the previous day!)

OOC > Sorry for the delay. Slight retcon of the building description that became obvious to me when I decided to make a map...
Pascal, Jorin, and Drusk hang out just outside of the lamplight, looking nonchalant, trimming their nails with axes, and whatnot. The night is dark, but not pitch black, there is enough moonlight to get around.
Hildi and Ilena approach the building, which has a door with a sliding peephole, and two painted over windows facing the street. The front face of the building is about 40 ft wide. Hearing nothing, seeing no traps, but noting that the door is locked, Hildi signals that he will scout. He heads west then south, and does a perimeter of the building, coming back north to where Ilena is waiting.
The building is two stories, built into a hill, so the street facing side is the top floor, but as Hildi scouted around, he descended along some crude planks buried in the dirt, 15 feet to the alleyway behind. The lower floor of the warehouse, some of which is built into the hillside, includes a gated yard (the gate is not locked), and inside that, a wide warehouse door (locked) and a smaller door (also locked). Inside the gated area is another blacked out window. There are no other windows or entrances. Hildi was able to scout all he wanted without appearing to attract notice.

Having been raised in a monastery, Ilena is still getting used to the concept of locked doors. Not hearing anything, she'll back up to where the others are and try to look nonchalant as well, mimicking Jorin by picking the dirt under her nails with a dagger.

(Just the opposite for Drusk. The elves at the cloister almost seemed to go out of their way to lock him into whatever room or cubbyhole he was in.)

Hildigrim returns to the group and relays what he found concerning doors, windows, gates, and slopes. "The only place I haven't looked," the halfling says, "is the roof. Someone want to give me a boost?"
OOC: Or can the group tell from the ground that that's a silly idea?
OoC - I love that a small female monk decided to clean her nails with a dagger next to a giant, fur clad barbarian doing the same with an axe, the visual is fantastic.
From the street it's a single storey building, so the taller among you can see it okay from back where you are. It's dark, but you don't see anything like a chimney, or a window in the roof. None of you are experienced second-story burglars, so I'll leave it at that.

Pascal is looking through his little satchel for anything of use and whispers over to Jorin, “Say, think we should use the spell scroll that makes ya invisible? Seems like it could be useful in these situations.”

Is it a flat roof or a pitched roof?
Ilena looks nervously between the open roads and where Hildigrim disappeared behind the building. Not suspicious at all.
~♡~
Hildi is back, and everyone has gathered to inconspicuously clean their nails just outside the lamplight.
The roof is pitched, but not steep at all, a very shallow angle. Waterdeep gets snow, so a flat roof is a mistake.
The night is quiet, and cold, and the snow is starting to fall lightly.

"I could attempt to pick a lock," Hildigrim offers.
"I know nothing of locks or this type of investigation, I will follow your lead." She gestures, indicating she means everyone around her.

"I could try picking the lock," (Drusk pats the top of the mace), "but it would be better to try Hildigrim's non-destructive lock-picking first."
Drusk casts Guidance on Hildigrim.
