Pascal's pleased look turns to disappointment when Goldy reveals she has seven with her first two cards. It's Gowin's turn to give his wife a congratulatory kiss. Forte gives a little cheer when he discovers he had more nuts he didn't realize he had, but he still convinces his dad that they need to go back to being one nut per card.
"Alright," Hori says, passing two cards to each player, "two nuts to ante and one nut per extra card."

Jorin joins his team of tiny children, starting where it is suggested he stand. One of his teammates takes the ball, moves to the back of area near their hoop, and throws the ball toward the other hoop. Everyone starts moving, so Jorin does as well, still trying to figure out how the game is played even as it is already going. There is a lot of yelling, and the ball flies through the air quite often. The hardest part for the barbarian is trying to not step on anyone. Jorin is having a hard time keeping his eye on the ball. He succeeds in two-hand tagging a player, but it turns out they no longer had the ball, and it knocks them down. They look up, and yell, "Hey! I'm on your team!" But then there is cheering down at his end of the play area. The other team has succeeded in getting the ball into the hoop. As he looks, the two human youths appear to be looking straight at him and taunting him.

The cards are displayed, and Hildi crows at having seven and no one to share the pot with. He reaches with both hands to drag the pile of peanuts toward him.
"I've only got two peanuts left," Forte says.
"I've only got four myself," Hori confesses, shuffling the cards.
"How about we split the nuts evenly and play Primus's Gavel," Goldy suggests.
"Seeing as how you've got the biggest pile, that's awfully noble of you, Aunt Goldy," Hildi smiles.
Forte gets up, goes to a side table, pulls open a drawer, and pulls out a different deck of cards. Hori begins shuffling the new deck as Goldy explains the game to Pascal.
OOC: Pascal, the rules:
You bid one nut and roll 1d20. You then can either fold at that point or bid a second nut and roll 1d12. Again, you can then fold or bid a third nut and roll 1d6.
Feeling a little more like he knows what to do, Jorin begins the second play more wisely. The little ones can take care of themselves, he decides, so, while still being careful, he spends more time playing and less time worrying. The two teams seem pretty evenly matched this go-round. Jorin's team takes initial control and moves down the play area toward the other team's goal. There are a couple tosses, and Jorin decides to try for the goal, but a two-hand tag freezes him in place only a step away, and the other team takes the ball. He waits impatiently to be able to move again, and once he can, he turns and sprints toward his own goal. The other team has gotten the ball pretty close, but he gets to the other end just as the ball is returned to his team's possession. Three more times, the ball gets pretty close to either goal and is overturned. The pressure is building with each play. Jorin is beginning to sweat — not so much from physical exertion, but from anticipation. For quite a while, his team is able to keep the ball close to the other team's goal. The three players on his team are good catchers, and the four of them stand in a semicircle, tossing the ball around and trying to tire out the other team. An errant toss puts the ball back in the other team's possession before Jorin's team can succeed in making a goal, and all eight players are moving toward the other goal again. Luckily, the ball is overturned once again, and back them come. There is more tossing while Jorin's team stays ahead of the other team's reflexes. Finally, the littlest one makes a break for the goal, catches the ball, and slams it into the goal. Jorin's teammates crowd around the human's knees, cheering and jumping up and down.

If you had interesting things thought up with the Goodbody family, I don't want to get in the way. Or if you had seeds of ideas, but it would take too much time to get them ready now, you can drop story hints, and the campaign can come back to them at a later date.
