Quillary looks puzzled. "Why are the drow working with the Xanathar? Is it time to blow the whistle yet?"
(OOC: Up to you how much Jorin mentioned from post 4272. Not so much working together, as "I have something you want, how much will you pay for it?")

(I don't remember where I posted the island map earlier, so I'll put it up again.)
The party is in the tower (9), southern part of island. Your eventual escape is in the western harbor (3b). However, that is where the Drow officers are currently, and they are headed towards the tower (east along the (8) buildings, then south).
There is only one entrance/exit to the tower. And there are guards on patrol outside the tower (although Pascal scared them recently to keep them from entering).
When you blow the whistle, there will be a diversionary raid at the bridge (1) and the eastern harbor (3a). So you can expect the Xanathar guards to move to the north and northeast. (But the Drow have their own priorities.)

Quillary looks around once more. There are no windows, no way out that is up, correct? Just the door downstairs. She stands, "Can you walk?" she asks Cory'bant'ex. "Or run? Fight?"
Did Quillary see any weapons when she was looking about the place? It would be good to arm the other prisoners.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Jorin thinks for a moment before saying, "My father and I were hunting a crag cat one spring morning when we came across a raiding party of Blood Maws, a cannibal tribe with ill tempers and ill-er intent. I was but a few winters old. They cornered us in a ravine, but there was a way out the back. We were able to escape and work around the backside of the ravine, evading they grasp."
He looks around for a second and then realizes no one knows what he's talking about it, "We should blow whistle, to clear the guards from the tower door. Then, make our escape, going east out of the door and taking the long way around the tower to the harbor. Odds are, the Drow will be on a course that leads them around the north side of the tower. This will put us keenly past them."
What other guards or people are there around the tower?
There were a handful of guards in the immediate vicinity of the tower. And over a hundred Xanathar thugs scattered throughout the island. (The guards in the buildings along the southern part of that area are manning the arrow slits, so they will be looking at the water if you don't draw attention to the Tower.)

Hildigrim puts a finger to his chin. "If the drow are coming here to trade for the prisoners, are they our enemy? If we blow the whistle and the Xanathar leave the drow to continue to the tower alone, can we not just let them in and explain the situation? They would then be able to help in the escape. If we blow the whistle, the diversion is likely to not only draw the attentions of the Xanathar guard on the north side of the tower, but also those manning the arrow slits on the southern side, therefore drawing their attention toward us as we move to that side of the tower." The halfling furrows his brow. "Why did they ask us to rescue the prisoners if an exchange was already being made?"
Or has this plan been going on so long that I've forgotten that there are three organizations?
The halfling furrows his brow. "Why did they ask us to rescue the prisoners if an exchange was already being made?"
(OOC: Reminder the the Drow society is currently run by those devoted to Lolth, a CE demon goddess. The Bregan D’aerthe are the "rebel" Drow, and act like gangsters while in Waterdeep.
The Drow nobles are not here for an "exchange". They are paying the Xanathar in resources and weapons, in order to get information about the Bregan D'aerthe, so they can wipe out their organization. They would definitely take the courier with them, for further interrogation.)
Drusk scratches his head. "I'm not sure what you are suggesting, Hildi. We were hired by Bosskyn (of the Zhentarim) to rescue the courier, Cory'bant'ex. Then some Bregan D'aerthe offered to help us (with the whistle), if we freed the courier and all the other prisoners.
"Are suggesting we should wait here to talk to the Drow nobles? These Drow consider other races to be inferior, and enslaved, so I don't see why they would help us in any way. And after they take away Cory'bant'ex to be tortured and killed? I imagine that both the Zhentarim and the Bregan Doofuses would consider our action as a betrayal. And if they don't get revenge on us first, they will probably inform the Xanathar about us killing their earlier raiding party, and Sundeth.

(OOC: I realize I should wrap this up. This post will give the story elements, and the next post will be the post-module rewards. Over the weekend, you are welcome to ask any questions, or make witty inter-party conversation. Monday will start the next module.)
The party blows the whistle. With your ears to the door (after Jorin cleared the half-ogre and wyvern bodies out of the way), you can hear the guards headed to the north of the island. Hildigrim was worried about the remaining guards at the arrow slits, but since they assume the attack is coming from outside the fortress, their attention is on the water rather than the Tower.
With Volo watching overhead (and making the occasion hoot of distraction), the party + prisoners (with Quillary's Pass Without Trace) know when to exit the Tower, and when the Drow nobles have moved past your hiding spot in the courtyard. You quickly make your way to the western harbor, where a few Bregan D’aerthe are waiting with camouflaged canoes to take you off the island.
You are safely holed up in a hotel. Word reaches you that the Xanathar are furious, as it was embarrassing to lose prisoners just when the Drow nobles had arrived with payment. (Also not good to have Commander Sundeth assassinated while guards were inattentive around Skull Island.)
No one knows where the Key is. It was to be shipped to Xanathar HQ, but the package was at the bridge when the raid happened. With the fighting, it isn't clear who possessed it last. Bosskyn (the Zhent leader at the start of this module) suspects someone has stolen it, but it will be tough to figure out who and where and when... In any case, no longer your problem, and the headache can go to Volothamp Geddarm for getting you involved with this Skullport craziness in the first place.

At some point, you receive a note from Cory’bant’ex (the courier). She thanks you for saving her life. She is currently recovering and hiding in a safe house (although you know not where).
One of Bosskyn's goons arrives at your hotel room with his payment (post 3750): 300 GP (into the party collective fund), and a potion of speed.
Bosskyn also said there might be something extra if you pissed off the Xanathar (post 3753). A large wrapped box, the size of a backpack, is delivered, addressed to Quillary. (Quillary can let the rest of you know what is in the box. Let me know who gets the potion.)
