"In the sewers?" Renaer seems dismayed. "Waterdeep is riddled with tunnels and sewers beneath the streets... it could be near, or it could be miles away."
He thinks a minute. "I could... I know someone who might help pinpoint a starting place. I will need to speak with them... well, the Captain said it was past midnight? So in the morning. I would take you up on your offer to help. Do you stay at the Yawning Portal? Would I find you there in the morning? We should go."
"Captain!" he calls out, and goes to speak with the Captain in preparation to leave.
OOC > Let's go ahead and fast forward. Please to have fun with the role-playing, or if there is anything you feel you need to have the characters discuss. I'd like to know where you might spend the night (Ilena and Pascal have beds, you other three do not, but the YP does, and Durnan will be happy to put you up tonight. Volo is in bed if you go back to the YP tonight. And as previously discussed, you get a Long Rest and Ilena will rise to second level.

Jorin is a big fan of the Portal and when the conversation turns towards heading back that way, his face lights up and he is eager to do so.
During the walk back, he turns to Ilena, "So, little one, what brings you to waterdeep and in with this most impressive crew?" he says with a laugh, "Are you as found of fighting, eating, and drinking as we are?"
Drusk will plan to get a room at the YP. (How much is it, 5sp or 1gp?)
"I forgot, who are we meeting in the morning?" (He will never remember Neverember, no matter how much time the group spends with the guy.)

Ilena talks to Jorin while they walk, and gestures with her hands while she explains "Ah... well, I'll give you the short version. I was raised by the monks of the Order of the Even-Handed, as I think I explained at the Yawning Portal. I'm actually on my pilgrimage, you see. Waterdeep is the heart of the order, and it's head is a venerable monk who lives near the aerie." She points at the mountain. "I tried to speak to him but he asked me to bring him a story of injustice." She looks at the cobblestones, and her cheeks flush. ""I've lived in a monastery as long as I can remember, I'm distinctly lacking in stories. But... tell me more about yourself and your friends!"
Ilena would go back to the Hall of Justice if the group is willing to guide her since she doesn't know her way there from the Docks. In the morning, instead of taking a meandering route as she normally would, she will go directly to the Yawning Portal in the morning, since she feels that rescuing Floon is an important task.
"Injustice? I think you might be in the middle of writing your story on that topic." Jorin says with a smile. "I met this lot during my time here. I have been taking in Waterdeep for a couple years, working on ships and spending coin. Hildi and Drusk are both fine companions, and I was pleased to meet Pascal just recently. He make the most tasty food from the oddest bits."
(Drusk is tempted to mention that they would need to be close, like super friends, to go with her to the hall of justice. Then he thinks about the odd looks he got from his elf friends at his sense of humor, and decides not to say anything.)

OOC: Oh my, that ... is awesome. You may remember that Hildigrim is a twin. And he's pretty wonderful. Maybe he should acquire a pet monkey. Hmmmm ...
Hildigrim begins to ask Neverember if he might have some accommodations he could provide, but then remembers he's trying to make it on his own, and happily heads north with the rest — destination: the Yawning Portal. As his most pressing questions are for Ilena, and she is engaged in conversation with Jorin, the halfling stay (unusually) quiet on the walk back.
Getting to his rented room later that early morning, he sighs as he steps inside to find an empty space. No stacks of books to greet him. The excitement of the evening had distracted him from the pain of his mourning, but it all comes rushing back as he readies for bed and slips underneath the covers for a long rest.
The next day, Hildigrim has every intention of buying a healer's kit before they get underway. He also needs to pick up some arrows and would love to find some specialty arrows.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Morning dawns in Waterdeep, and at the Yawning Portal it begins with a clattering of crockery and a ritual bowl of oatmeal poured down the well. Bonnie, one of the servers, returns from this duty, passing by one or the other of you with a shrug, "We imagine it to keep them feeded and happiest."
Those of you who stayed the night (it was 5 shards, a one-time discount from the normal price of 1 dragon) are welcomed into the common room as heroes. Durnan has you checked over by his in-house medic, Ganash, a Dragonborn woman with the Healer feat. Drusk receives 6 additional hp from her care and bandaging.
She is happy to sell a 10-use Healer's Kit to Hildigrim for five dragons (the going price) if he wants one.
Volo is nowhere to be found.
Ilena is there early, and as Pascal arrives and settles in, Lord Renaer Neverember comes in. He looks better, but not fully recovered. He is accompanied by Jalester, who you last saw during the troll incident, and who took axe-wielding half-orc-stomping Meloon Wardragon off with him... was it just last night? Jalester still has a hangdog look about him, is still dressed unremarkably, with a well worn longsword at his side.
"And here they are, as you said, Renaer. Good morning!" Jalester greets you all. "Lord Neverember has related some of what you did for him last night, and I am grateful you were there. It seems you had a busy night. But we are very concerned about this, um," He looks at Renaer.
"Floon. Floon Blagmaar."
"That's right! We'd be grateful if you folks wouldn't mind seeing if you can track him down, still. Lord Neverember said something about the sewers, and specifically about yellow signs in the sewers? I did ask about, and heard that you might begin looking for such under the streets just where you were last night, in Candle Lane."
"I am afraid the City Watch is... unavailable—what with patrols stretched thin managing the violence on the streets—to go under them looking for every citizen who goes missing. But the Warden of Waterdeep himself, and the Blackstaff, would be in your debt if you were to rescue this... Fluu...uh, this citizen."
"What say you?"

Jorin thoroughly enjoyed his night's rest at the Portal. After spending some time in the city, one of the luxuries he came to appreciate, aside from exotic food and drink, was a soft bed. He sits, slouched in the chair, with one arm hanging over the back rest and his axes every ready on his hip.
"Flaan does seem to be the quarry of the day, and us his hunters." he says, and the smiles that trademark, wide smile, "Let us break fast and have drink together. Surely The Portal has a morning ale, or spirit, suitable to rouse the sleepy?"
Drusk pays the 5 shards for the room, tips Ganash another shard for the healing, does not cast Cure Wounds (8 is enough), and pays 5 dragons to Ganash for a Healing Kit (party medic wants another one too).
"Greetings Lord Neverm(mumble). I see you are traveling with Jester. Has he told you any good jokes?"

Ilena looks between the fellows here gathered before answering Jalester directly. "Well... seeing as I have already committed myself to finding" she struggles to remember the name again "F... Fl... Ranaer and Volo's friend; of course I will search for him. Though admittedly I don't look forward to stomping about in a sewer." Ilena leans down and pats the side of her boot.
Hildigrim does buy a healer's kit, and is grateful for it. As the halfling is busy trying to get some food ordered, he's not contributing much to the conversation, but is paying attention. When asked whether they're willing to search for Floon, he says hastily, "Of course, of course," then continues looking for a barmaid.
You break your fast with morning ale and some actual food, which Renaer absentmindedly pays for as he tries to urge you out the door to find his friend.
Ganash the Dragonborn medic is more than happy to hand out Healer's Kits (5 dragons apiece), while taking for herself a sample of Pascal's food (which acts like a Healer's Kit, thanks to his background). At one point she suggests in her sibilant accented Common, "Durnan should jhire you to cook in his kitshen, this ish vurry goods."
Finally, Jalester escorts you out the door. "Thank you again for agreeing to serve the City in this way. If you... ahem, when you find Floo...n? Blagmaar, you can bring him here, or to the Palace, depending on his condition. Durnan's people can care for him if he is unwell."
Renaer wants to join you, but with a quiet word Jalester suggests he should not, and he reluctantly agrees.
Please indicate if you do other than go back to Candle Lane and look for a sewer entrance.
Ilena is easily distracted this morning and listens in on the conversations going on around her, but doesn't say too much more herself. When the party is ready to go she follows along anxiously.
After eating his food and having not fewer than two mugs of morning ale, Jorin dashes back up to his room. He pull the heavy suit of chain mail off a rack and puts it on. He give his chest a couple pounds with his fist, nods his head, then goes back downstairs to join the others on the way out the door.
