Feldspar narrows her eyes and heads upstairs to Hildi’s room for some answers, with Jorin. On the way she finds Lif and wordlessly encourages him to go bother the guest downstairs.
Upon entering Hildigrim's room, the others can hear him talking to himself — mostly fragments of sentences — all said in a kind of manic and excited Halfling prattle. "Oh!" he says upon seeing he has guests. "Go!" he says, chuckling and making a shooing motion with one hand. "Go pack. Can you believe it?! The Cartophile!" He picks up two books and weighs them before tossing one on a pile in the corner and the other onto his bed.
Drusk: "I keep asking why carts are a big deal, but even Hildigrim doesn't know anything beyond a name. Starting to sound like a scam, to take advantage of people nervous about recent events.
"Maybe I should skip this, and use my time more productively at a nearby abbey. The local priests will share if they've heard something useful, especially after a few mugs of ale. Jorin and Feldspar, you are welcome to tag along. I don't know if there are any temples you wanted to check out.
"We can compare notes after we get back later today. Have a safe trip, Hildi."

Hildi stops and looks at Feldspar. At first, he looks amused — like he's waiting for the punchline to a joke. Then, he blinks, realizing Feldspar is actually asking who the Cartophile is. His look of humor turns into a look of surprise and then excitement. "Really?" he asks, looking from one face to the next and finally back at their newest friend. "You don't know?" He closes his eyes and smacks his forehead. "Hainard's hairy toes." He smiles at Spar again. "You'll have to excuse me. It's just that the Cartophile is one of my ... I'm not sure how to describe it. He's someone I've always wanted to meet. They're so famous in Waterdeep. He's arguably the most famous gnome on the Coast. I thought everyone knew who the Cartophile is." He looks from face to face again, seeing if his explanation so far has jogged the memories of his comrades. When they continue to look at him with confused (and even impatient) looks, he puts his hands on his narrow hips. "The Cartophile," Hildi says, speaking slowly, as if to a child, "is the premier owner, purveyor and scholar of maps." With still no signs of recollection, the halfling sighs. "I can't believe none of you know of whom I am speaking. The Cartophile! He is rumored to even own maps of Undermountain, dating from the architectural drawings from when it was excavated!" He looks as if he is about start jumping up and down. "The Cartophile!" he says, shaking his fists above his head.
Drusk is no longer threatening to stomp away, now that Hildigrim is being a little more forthcoming.
He does scratch his head. "Shouldn't the name be Cartographophile instead? That might be less ambiguous. And I thought you preferred books with the written word, instead of drawings in them."

Anyway, while I do prefer books to maps, the Cartophile is still a very famous person known for his knowledge. He's one of my famous four!" He walks toward the group, his hands out. "Now, please, let me get ready. I don't want to keep him waiting."
(Just a reminder, Mary said she'd take you to the Cartophile today, but that your journey would begin tomorrow, so you would have time to gear up and, you know, re-select spells if needed.)

After getting a better explanation and seeing how much Hildigrim wants to do this, Drusk will support this.
"The Cart-o-fillet lives somewhere close by, yes? If you don't want to keep him waiting, then we should leave immediately. The sooner we get useful info straight from the Cart, the better we can pack this evening. The young terse lady did say the actual journey wouldn't be until tomorrow."
Drusk heads downstairs to let Fanny know that the four of them will spend the afternoon visiting someone famous who likes maps and street food. And then he will then play around with Mortimer until the others join them.

Drusk arrives downstairs to find Mary sitting at a table with tarot cards before her, and a deck in her hands. She looks up at Drusk and smiles a self-satisfied smile, nodding at him. Mortimer, who wasn't all that cuddly when you knew him before, is still not very cuddly, and mostly stares at Drusk. He is, after all, a cat.

Drusk doesn't have a lot of experience with cats. After getting some spiritual guidance, he tries to playfully scratch Mortimer on the head. It is only due to the wisdom of Lliira that he notices the cat (still giving him a cold stare) is preparing to use its claws. The cleric withdraws his hand and decides to leave the cat in peace.

In response to Drusk's urging that they should leave sooner rather than later, Hildi makes a noise of frustration and worry and then begins throwing the stack of books on his bed into a bag. Finally, he retrieves a folded piece of parchment from a desk drawer and hurries to find Mary. "Ready!" the halfling calls merrily as he enters the dining room.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Feldspar descends the stairway last. "The 'other one' will come to see what this 'low reward' might offer. No promises." She swings by the bar and does her part for Pascal and Fanny by cleaning morsels of leftovers off of the remaining plates, licking her fingers clean and watching Mary. She turns back to one of the plates, and picks up a few things in one hand and with the other, spins and sends a message to Mortimer. "Hungry? Treats..."and she lowers down and offers some kitty-sized morsels in the palm of her hand.
(Technically, Mortimer is a familiar spirit who has taken animal form, and so, not exactly an animal. In either case, the morsels do not entice him.)
Mary stands up with a sweep of her skirts and pulls her cloak on (it can still be chilly this time of year), and leads the group out the door.
To Jorin, “I could not say what is in the Cartophile’s collection, but I have seen a partial map of the City of Doors, so I expect it is not unlikely that he has some plans to Undermountain secreted somewhere.”
To Spar, she watches, amused, as the woman tries to entice Mortimer. The cat almost completely ignores Spar and her offerings, following Mary out the door and down the porch steps to the street.
Once out in the street, she marches along at a good clip, leading the group towards the Castle Ward.
