"I'm actually Sunflower." The shy half-elf said. "Our Archdruid is Moon Shadow. And i thank you for looking into his disapearence. Like I said.." she trails as her gaze follows Reggie around the table. She blushes and looks away when he sits on Aroks lap.
There is some murmering among the grouo at Reggies actions and Arok appears to have been caught off guard.
"While I appreciate the flattery could you please get off," Arok says with added emphasis on the last two words, though still careful to maintain the look of professionalism.
"I-I-I" Sunflower stammers while trying to compose herself. "Like I was saying, um, Moon Shadow had left to commune at a shrine when he disapered. He had said that an imbalance had grown in the swamp and he was looking for guidance on what to do. The shrine is only known to the Archdruid, somewhere north i would guess as thats where he was heading. Though we have looked with help from Arthur and his rangers, we haven't found anything. I'm sorry i couldn't be more help," Sunflower explained, her fave still red and gaze never leaving the tabletop.
Reg scoots off Arok’s lap unsurprised but keeping the smile on his face to hide his disappointment. Under his breath he says, “Well you can’t hit any targets if you don’t shoot any arrows.” And then to Sunflower, “Excuse my confusion with the names ma’am. And I’m sorry to hear about the ArchDruid. I think my new friends and I would be glad to seek him out. Partly because it seems like the right thing to do, but also this sounds like the making of an epic metal song! Dragons, druids and lizardfolk. **** ya!”
"The northern bits of the swamp are largely lizardfolk territory so we tend to avoid it. Give them space and they do their thing and usually leave us alone. The waterways are wide enough but sometimes the vegetation is a bit too thick for easy travel." Arthur explained.
"Thank you for helping with this. It means the world to me and the circle."Sunflower added.
"Thank's for the coin friend, and I'd also like to ask some questions while I've got the lot of you. These rivers marked on the map, are they large enough for a canoe to travel? And does the trail intersect it at any point further north? I'm hoping if the group chooses to go north we'll be able to save some time with river travel. That'll get us closer to the missing folks faster at least" Wheeze then turned to the other three adventurers, "What do you think heroes? Got any better ideas?"
Tyrin shrugs "River travel would be less exhausting in the least." - Tyrin walks over to Sunflower and rests a comforting hand on her shoulder - "We will do what we can to bring the Archdruid home to you." - glancing around the room at the rest of the townsfolk - "And your missing scouts as well of course..." - Tyrin begins heading towards the door while waiving at the rest of the group - "Guess we should buy rations and whatnot for our journey."
Bert looks unusually excited even for him. "Oh boy a river trip im gonna swim up the whole river, if anyone not in the chubbster club wants a ride im down. Getting paid to wet my shell how can this get any better might find some mud crabs or river eels. Can we just get a head start and go now?"
It doesn't take long before word travels around the village of your acts the previous night or the fact that you intend to venture out into the swamps in search of Moon Shadow. The priest of The Ranger among others gathers to see you off. "May your travels be safe within his realm. May your food be plentiful and the dangers naught." The priest says as he wishes you well on your trek.
"Best of luck," Arthur says.
"The circle is in your debt," Sunflower says.
The boat that is being lent to you is of average size, enough for the four of you to travel comfortably. Due to the nature of the swamp in in place of oars for rowing you have a pole along with a single oar to aid in steering the craft.
((Despite being more like a gondola/canoe type craft I'll be using rowboat stats. I'll post them under party notes for you))
"I agree with Bert we should leave now. The longer we wait the more likely a gator eats the dead bodies out there and we never find em.'" Wheeze then looks uncomfortably around at the gathering attention, "Plus these people are giving me the creeps. Too many eyes make me itch." Pulling his hood up to further hide his face, he looks around for Reggie, "Hey loud guy, got a good boat song for us?"

Tyrin stands forward in the boat, eyes piercing into the distant swamp... or as far as one could see in the thick swamp foliage. "This... won't be easy." he says under his breath. Tyrin turns to the group of people and waves with a half hearted smile. "You all take care and watch out for those lizardfolk!" with a sigh he makes himself comfortable, eyes focused on the swamp he and the rest of the "heroes" were about to delve deeper into.
Reg sits in the middle of the canoe shifting a lot as he tries to find a comfortable seating/position to play while they traveled. Once he settled in, he thought for a minute on what to play and finally settled on an old seafaring ditty he learned from a seaman a few years back. Then began to play:
And once the song was finished, Reg looked about just kind of watching the river and the surrounding mangroves. He liked seeing the wildlife around even if he wasn’t exactly a fan of swamps. Plus looking out for gators was a probably helpful. After a while, he turned to the rest of the crew and asked, “oh hey, does anyone know where we’re going?”
((Time for this awesome random swamp encounter generator I found. I like it cause there's good shit and bad shit as well as exciting shit and dull shit that can happen.))
As you push off from the docks and begin your decent into the heart of the swamps, you begin to settle into your spots in the craft. Be it muscle, guard, minstral or look out, you each have wordlessly self assigned yourselves tasks to benefit your journey. The stagnant river twists and turns through the swamplands similar to the map that Arthur had lent you all, but not exactly. From your estimation, the fork is closer to the town than it appeared on the map and you realize the map may not be as accurate as even Arthur believed. Despite this its your best chance at knowing the layout and decide to make edits as your travel.
The day moves on fairly uneventfully. Despite seeing various fauna of the swamp, the day is quiet compared to the night prior. It doesn't take long before you realize it's time to make landfall to find camp. As you begin to look for a place to camp for the night you notice an island in the distance with shady trees and faint structures. As you approach you notice a few abandoned lean-tos nestled among the trees, but other than that the island seemed bare.
Wheeze narrows his eyes and looks at the island at the island skeptically, "I know we need to camp, but I don't trust an empty island in a swamp full of monsters. If you want we can try and make a stealthy landfall and I can have a peek around."

Tyrin nods at Wheeze and says "Yes, I agree. Nothing is abandoned for no particular reason, we should go forward with caution!" Tyrin glances about, trying to make out anything that might seem out of place.
You pull in the oar, coasting silently through the water by earlier applied kinetic force. As you get closer to the island Tyrion studies it closely. Though the grasses make it somewhat difficult to tell, it appears to be an old campsite, nothing more. Aside from the lean-tos he notes the island also has a fair number of serpents calling it home.
Grunting in reply to Reg, Wheeze leaps to the island as soon as the boat nears the shore. He then begins to obviously prowl around, occasionally sniffing the ground, staring at errant leaves and peering with keen eyed intent at the abandoned campsite.
Bert slowly glides onto shore and quietly gets out using his most monk like abilities he quickly finds cover and starts scouting. He looks at Wheeze and gives him a complex set of hand movements signaling that he will be scouting one direction and obviously expecting wheeze to go the other way. Bert does not know if Wheeze understands but he also does not take the time to think about it. He has one mission and that is scouting the island and eliminating any thing he finds.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Weeze leaps forward onto the shore, the boat rocks from his sudden launch which, despite shocking, does nothing more than startle the remaining crew men. No sooner did Bert also pull himself onto the island to start searching it for any signs of foul play or anything unatural, do the islands inhabitants strike out at the unruly guests.

As you deal with the serpent strike, you notice many more snakes on the island.

As you deal with the serpent strike, you notice many more snakes on the island.
In quick response to the serpents attacks Tyrin casts Speak with Animals to attempt to commune with the serpents and calm them down.
You gain the ability to comprehend and verbally communicate with beasts for the duration. The knowledge and awareness of many beasts is limited by their intelligence, but at minimum, beasts can give you information about nearby locations and monsters, including whatever they can perceive or have perceived within the past day. You might be able to persuade a beast to perform a small favor for you, at the GM’s discretion.
"Why shoukd we be calm? You invade our home and threaten our home." Tyrion hears from the snakes. The speach is slow and drawn out. As you look for a source of the voice you realize its as if its comjng from everywhere.
Reg watches Tyrin and notices his speech change to hisses and rattles. Reg knows nothing of the snake language but from the way the snakes stayed coiled in a strike position, he could tell they weren’t exactly exchanging recipes at this point. Reg picks up his lyre and begins to play...
...and with it casts minor illusion so that Tyrin seems more serpentine and amiable to the snakes. His eyes appear rounder and slitted, his nose less pronounced and some scales appear here and there on his visible skin.
