"Get some rest tonight, this may be the last time you'll have a comfortable bunk for quite some time. We ship out bright and early." The LT will walk out of the room, closely followed by Sarge. This is it, you have your orders.
For the rest of the evening, you double check your gear, say your goodbyes to fellow soldiers, and get some rest. Tomorrow, the journey that will change your lives will start. And some of you may not make it back in one piece or even at all. Looking back years from now, if you knew what you were going to have to face, would you have deserted your post? Would you have done something differently? Could you have saved them? Unanswered questions for a different time, a different place. But you have your orders, and you will do what has to be done. Sometimes, it just takes standing up to evil for it to not succeed. But what really could you have done to make things different?
After waking up early, you meet the rest of your unit to ship out at the correct time. You make your way down the trade road through the Aundarian countryside, the quiet journey is marked by the sounds of the lightning rail in the distance and the storm clouds that follow it. Overhead is an overcast sky, with storm clouds rolling in from the north. ((OOG Yeah, I'm stealing that, MC.))
As you come closer to the coast you can smell the large inland sea that is Lake Galifar. The rolling hills here break away to a shining city in the distance, Passage. After a day of travel, it was refreshing to see that you have made your destination safely and without incident. The city's North Gate is open. Called the Orien Gate, you can see a Lightning Rail departing the city from a bridge above. The storm clouds follow it as it speeds off into the distance.
The city of Passage is the second largest on Aundarian land. A center for trade and commerce the city features a large House Orien enclave named Journey's Home. Almost any trade good going west of Aundair passes through Passage. Many nobles and vassal lords enjoy vacation homes in Passage along the shoreline of Lake Galifar. Passage also features a large Lightning Rail maintenance and repair facility.

Isuzu
At the sight of the city of Passage, she looks upon it sadly and breathes in slowly... then breathes out again... Strangely she feels a sense of longing as she looks upon the city of her birth! Her duty... has led her back home. Over the years she has tried not to think of this place. Tried to let it go. To leave it behind. But it always came back to her or she to it... in her dreams. Now, these details... these objects, people, and places that she thought she had left behind are before her once more.
Isuzu remains silent trying to reign in her emotions at returning home, she follows the others in her unit... as always obeying orders but somehow cannot help but wonder if her father knows that she has returned. As they continue on into the city Isuzu looks upon familiar sites, enjoys familiar sounds as they travel on to the Trade District, down the center road to the Lake District where she catches her first sight of the vessel... Wroagar's Vexation!
As you come through the Lakeside District and make your way to the gangplank you are met by a skinny human dressed in the finest Aundarian navy fashions.
"Ahoy! You must be Greywind. I am Rear Captain Rikkar Chezsan. Welcome, welcome." He bows as he introduces himself, with a little too much flair. "I take it your trip from Faderock went well? You are early, I must say, but not unexpected. The men will take your mounts on board, and Seaman Conners will show you to your cabins. Please, make yourself at home and we will try to provide you with a safe journey to Cree."
You see the large ship behind you, a handful of sailor are loading supplies onto the deck as others are hoisting ropes on pulley systems and swabbing the deck.

The minotaur rides just behind and to the left from Isuzu as they approach the city. He understands that the war is bigger than any other issues he may have so he mostly keeps quiet. He does shoot Isuzu some side eye though, wondering if she has really forsaken her family as she claims, or if there is some hidden animosity there. The sooner they are out of Passage the better as far as he's concerned, especially considering the 'relationship' between his House and House Orien. He is confident however that with the new airships they are building that Orien will just become the nuisance they really are.
Isuzu feels eyes upon her and suddenly turns her gaze upon the minotaur. She glares at the towering creature then just as suddenly turns away to marvel at the ship hoping to get a closer look at it... trying not to think about her family.
Not just trained and skilled in the operation of Land Vehicles but also those that operate in the Sea and Air even though her House has a fierce and ongoing rivalry with House Lyrandar she has managed from time to time to learn more and more... thus has become curious to find out how her Mark of Passage would fare controlling an elemental vessel of an airship or elemental galleon as she is able to control a lightning rail coach hoping to one day put herself to the test.
Several means exist to control an elemental vessel more reliably. A wheel of wind and water allows a dragonmark heir of House Lyrandar to control an airship or elemental galleon without making opposed Charisma checks. Lightning reins allow an Orien heir to control a lightning rail coach in the same way. A character without a dragonmark can cast charm monster or a similar spell on the bound elemental (either personally or through a magic item) to control the vessel effectively. So the reason that Lyrandar and Oriens heirs are used, aside from the fact that they have the corporate backing to provide the needed vessels, is that with the proper dragonmarked focused item, they are the only ones that can reliably control an elemental.
She looks around appreciatively at the city, all the people, the magic, and finally the boats. She pats Mustard affectionately, then boards, but stays near the side as she is curious about how they intend to load the horses. She's betting on a belly hoist.
