Probably a smarter way to play, tbh. It's in the evening for our PCs and the troll encounter followed our initial skirmish with those other ruffians, so I'm hoping that our exertions are almost over for the night, though with how great cantrips are in 5e, players can stretch themselves pretty well even after abilities and +lvl spells are used.
Vassa just wouldn't be that cautious or premeditated - he'll go with his gut every time and then try to skate through if things don't work out how he thought they would... which happens often.

Thanks, Kestrell. I've been wanting to play a bard FOREVER (this is my 1st time), so i'll probably totally over do it - apologies in advance for the groan worthy jokes, puns and other 'attempts' at humour. It'll get harder and harder to come up with bardcomment I'm sure (and i'm already scratching my head to come up with material, lol), so at some stage (and to give ya'll a break :) I'll probably have to start alternating actual lines with 'Vassa says something suitably bitting and witty'.
But that day is not THIS day!

Thanks, Gambit, and Durnan definitely for the win. Vassa would also like to grow up to be like Durnan... able to take almost 40 damge on the chin and still dish out a lazy 30 pts of pain in a single round. *Sigh* "One day..."

Haha, LOVE Lockbox, Gmoat. Such an original character, especially with that disconnect between his physical presence and his personality and age. Can't wait to see how he develops!

I hope I do him justice. I see him as a canvas and it’s really up to the party what type of being he becomes lol if you guys are *****, he will be a dick too. If you guys are good and treat people good, he will mold more towards that way of thinking. I like the idea of being confused in this world and wondering what his place is. He ain’t bright, but he’s loyal. I know that much. I can’t wait to see him develop either because it’s really up in the air.

Sorry all. I'm having massive formatting issues on my laptop. The manipulated dice rolls message for my last post is because I edited the message and for some reason the stealth roll I made (and the sentence I put in) to Kestrell were deleted. Not sure why, but I'm working on it!
*So I edit my last post to add the insight check request and my stealth roll and comment reappear... but my investigation check roll vanishes? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Thanks, Gmote. I can't quite figure out why it's happening, maybe because I have multiple DNDB windows open on my laptop or am signed in on multiple devices (I leave my account open on my PC). I tend to retroactively edit my posts a lot to account for roll results or DM info provided, instead of making new posts which would just lengthen the thread, and that seems to be when these glitches are occuring. It's not critical though, so all good.
Just to be clear as well, even though 'I' know what Lockbox was getting at with his questions to Volo, I like to make insight checks on fellow PCs to see what my character may or may not glean from PC-PC or PC-NPC interactions. It's not (well, not usually) my character trying to catch another PC out in a lie, or anything like that. :D

Hey Vassa, I just realized that my response to your insight check on Lockbox somehow didn't make it. My response was something along the lines of "The DM can't share what the DM doesn't know himself." lol
Haha, all good. As you know our backgrounds, I was more trying to see if Vassa could get an initial sense of what drives Lockbox, e.g. whether he is motivated by loneliness and a desire to belong. This would then inform future conversations that Vassa would have with Lockbox. That being said, even without the background info, Gmoat is doing such an amazing job communicating the warforged's nature and feelings, that I can just go off that (real-time rp without rolls). I just like to roll and ask for DM input to ensure that I'm not unknowningly getting too meta.

I want to go on record as saying that I want to be as badass as Durnan when I grow up.
And I agree with Kestrell, the bard insults and rhymes are great!
