"Back Valrun, back to Endshift Steet... if you don't mind. I'll burn my last spell."

Ohhh I wonder if I will get to see a sunset while flying!

Phae and Elon, I was going to have you both give me perception checks and then I realized your passive perceptions were higher than the DC I was going to make you pass anyway. Doh!

Phaedra

Valrun motions to Kody and they set off for the Field Ward again. Your not exactly sure how, but can tell Kody is getting tired. Eventually you get to the area and Kody starts slowly circling down. You recast your spell and immediately sense a nimblewright to the northwest of your location. When you press the button on your gadget it just barely starts to move. It's not much, but it's more than you've gotten all day.

As you look around you notice the area in which you're about to land is pretty run down yet fairly busy; lots of foot traffic up and down the streets. You also spot a familiar face in the crowd, Elon is walking down the breezeway in your direction.

Eventually you land on what Valrun says is the corner of Endshift Street and the Breezeway. Right next to you is a tavern, aptly named The Endshift Tavern.

Valan looks back to you and asks, "Do you still detect your murderer?"

Elon

You've spent the last couple hours walking around the Field Ward inquiring after a nimblewright. It's been a relatively fruitless search. The few leads you were given have proven incorrect and now you're heading toward the Endshift Tavern as you've heard some of the folks there may know something. You're currently walking down the Breezeway when you notice a griffon landing a little ways in front of you. You are shocked to realize that in addition to the usual knight, Phaedra is also riding the griffon.

Everyone else, whom I've shamefully neglected. My bad, yo.

After Valrun, Kody, and Phaedra leave, Barkas offers to take Selinae on a tour of the Peaktop Aerie then realizes he's being rude and offers the tour to Kestrell and Silver as well.

In the late afternoon a messenger arrives from Bason and Vassa. The messenger explains that Elon had hired him to deliver the message to the manor and then Vassa sent him to them to deliver the same message. Elon says that he's heard that a nimblewright was spotted in the Field Ward and that he's heading there to search.

Silver just nods "I feel I would regret not taking you up on that offer mate. Seen every part of Waterdeep, but never seen her from the sky."

Selinae insists on the others going up first, she's rather enjoying the lie in.

Kestrell goes on the tour, nodding appreciatively at the appropriate points and asking many questions.

When the letter arrives Kestrell tells the others to go on ahead, he'll wait here for Phaedra and let her know what is going on.

"I do Valan, he's here. I will stay here and I am sorry to ask you again for a favour seeing how kind you have been. I would assume you and Kody are headed back now, seeing he has started to tire. Can you tell the others where I am, I will wait near the Endshift Tavern. I need to keep an eye on it we do not loose it again."

"I think I sore one of my other companions not far away so I will not be alone"

Phaedra leans in and gives her knight a kiss on the cheek. "May Our Lady Mystra bless you and the Knights. May you long look over Waterdeep and protect her."

As soon as Valan leaves, Phaedra goes looking for Elon.

"Elon, Elon, is that you. Fancy meeting you here. I think I have found our Nimblewight. It's not far from here. Valan is going to go let the others know where we are."

"Hey Phaedra! I saw you on the bird. That must have been fun. Yes, my research lead me to this district but haven't found anything yet"

Elon looks around at the people and buildings.

"I'm afraid I am at a lose. How have you guys made out? Where are the others?"

"The Knights of Waterdeep have been kind enough to fly me over the city while I used our detection device and my own prayers to locate the Nimblewright. Valan is now returning to Kestrell, Silver and Selinae to let them know our location."

"See the device is saying hes up this way", Phaedra says, point the direction.

"Well should we check it out or wait for the others? If it gets away then all hopes of solving this crime goes with it"

He stands waiting for a response, smiling. He is happy to have his friends near again.

Kestrell, Salinae, & Silver - morning

"From the sky?" Barkas says, confused. Then, blushing with realization, "Oh, no no no. I'm so sorry.  I just meant a tour of the grounds of the Aerie... but I suppose that would be rather dull. Wait here. I'll be back shortly" And with that the halfing runs off. Not 10 minutes later he returns leading a group of knights and their griffons. "I had to call in a few favors and promise a few more to pull this off, but each of these knights has agreed to take you on a brief flight around the mountain here." Within minutes Barkas has handed everyone a harness and demonstrates how to put it on, and then directs Kestrell and Silver to the knights and griffons they'll be flying with. Barkas then leads Selinae over to a griffon with no knight. "This is Alvin," he says while stroking the griffon. "He has a better temperament than most, so you and I will be riding him." With that Barkas climbs up on Alvin and secures his harness then offers Selinae a hand. Once everyone is mounted and secured the group lifts off and goes on an amazing flight around the mountain and climbing to great altitudes allowing the group to look down on Waterdeep in the early morning light and seeing the beauty of the city in a way that few ever experience. Barely 20 minutes later they're all back on the ground and Barkas is thanking the knights and the griffons for their help while Kestrell is continuing to ask questions of the knight he flew with.

"I'm glad to hear that you won't be going after this murderer alone, especially without your armor. I'll pass alone your message." Valan then pats Kody who unfurls his wings and with one flap jumps into the air. As soon as they start gaining air, you notice Valan pulling something from a bag and appearing to speak into it, though you can't make out what he's saying."

"I am not sure if we should approach it by ourselvers. As Valan said, I specially did not bring armour so that I would not weigh the griffon down... but we don't want it to get away."

Phaedra holds up the device and checks it again. She starts to walk around a little to get a sense of the direction the Nimblewright is in.

Selinae was elated after her flight, so much so that when they landed in her glee she picked Barkas bodily up and planted a powerful kiss on his lips.  She spent the next several hours skipping about and replaying the scenes over and over in her head, and also sneaking glances at Barkas who was being mercilessly teased about her display by the other knights.

When Kestrell made his suggestion she politely refused, a little reluctant to leave Kestrell alone when they may be targets for assassins at any moment, even with the knights around....and also because she felt slightly guilty for kissing Barkas in front of him....which made no sense, it wasn't like she liked him or anything....he must have been her dads age at least....still he was funny.

" I have to tell mum and dad I rode on a Griffon! This is the best day ever!"

"Oh, I didn't realize we were going to fly.  Fantastic!"

Kestrell gladly goes on the griffon ride and is appropriately enthused.  So excited in fact, that when he gets back, he doesn't notice Selinae kiss Barkas.

When Selinae politely refuses, Kestrell asks: "I'm confused.  Are you going to wait here with me for Phaedra?  Or go back down and catch up with Elon?  Also, yes, this is a fantastic day.  Never had a griffon ride before.  Now, I would like to setup a little target course and try shooting from the back of one!"

" Wait with you of course, bud.  I'm sure she'll be back with good news soon."

OOC: Assuming Silver decides to wait with Kes and Sel.

Kestrell, Selinae, & Silver

In the early evening Barkas comes jogging out to the group, "We just got word from Valan. They've located the murderer! Valan says that Phaedra will meet you at The Endshift Tavern in the Field Ward, on the Breezeway. Valan also said that another of your friends was there, so she's not alone. Evidently Ms Phaedra must have impressed Valan as he's "asked" some knights to carry you. I figure a 20 minute flight would be better than an hour long run? Follow me back over to where we saddled up earlier please."

With that, Barkas takes off at a very fast walk. When the group of you get around to the other side you find three knights and their griffons waiting, all with serious expressions on their faces. One of the knights steps forward, "I don't know why we're being ordered to carry civilians to apprehend a murderer rather than just doing it ourselves, but we follow orders around here. You all learned the basics of flying earlier. Tonight you're going to get to experience more than just a nice view. Saddle up."

You all put the harnesses on as you were shown earlier and climb onto a griffon. Barkas runs around and double checks that everyone is secured. Once he gives the all clear, the griffons take flight and dive off the side of the mountain picking up tremendous speed before leveling out. The wind is pushing by you so fast you all have trouble just catching your breath for a moment. Looking down many of the buildings seem a blur. In barely 15 minutes the griffons dive the rest of the way down and land in an intersection. One of the knights points to a tavern, "Your friend should be waiting inside."

The knights help you all to the ground and wait for you to return the harnesses before nodding to you all and then taking flight again.

Selinae thanked the knights and ran for the tavern door, throwing it open.

" Phaedra?"

Phaedra, who had been spending the time getting a better understanding of the direction the Nimblewright was in, yells back at Selinae from the street not far down from the tavern.

"Selinae, over here!"

Kestrell follows Selinae over to Phaedra.  "Hey!  We got to ride on a griffon!  What did you find?  Elon found a Nimwit somewhere around here."

Phaedra's cheery expression changed as she shoot the ranger a hardened glare.

"Actually I found the Nimblewright I will have you know Kestrell. Our planned worked and I executed it flawlessly. Found it twice, once on my first loop of the city and then again as we came back here to double check. Both my spell and the device have picked it up. Elon just happened to hear something about how a Nimblewright could be around here somewhere, I pin pointed it."

"See?"

Phaedra hold's up the wiring device.

OCC: In the 15 mins to took the cavalry to arrive, did Phaedra manage to get a better sense of the location or even the direction of the Nimblewright?

Selinae bounced up to Phaedra, " Ohmygods! I think I should get a griffon, and then I can go flying everyday! And you can ride her too! I think I will call her Fluffy....or Stormeye....or Queen Bitey..."

" Oh!  Where is it?"
