Name: Erin 'Crowbell' Dumond Race/Class: Water Genasi Fighter (Archer) Position: Lookout/Lead Bowman (but could be a Master Gunner with a little modification) Discord Y/N: N, but happy either way Timezone: AEST (Australian Eastern Standard), Sydney Best Pirate Quote: "Life is pain, Highness, and anyone who says differently is selling something." - The Dread Pirate Roberts. D&D Experience: I've been DMing and playing for almost 30 years, with a 10 year gap in the middle. While I've played with many different folks, I'm proudest of the fact that I've brought 3 nephews and my own children into the D&D fold. LOVE the rp and collaborative story-telling elements of the game the most. Looking to play more as a player, rather than a DM. Myself: A creative person who believes in the power of imagination and the value of inclusivity.
Personality: Crowbell is a usually quiet, brooding presence, who tends to cause discomfort to people of gentler nature, not because of anything he does expressly, but more so becuase of a dark intensity that seems to drift just below the surface of the man. Erin's personality doesn't seem to concern sea birds, however, which is just as well since he spends most of his time at sea in the crowsnest, keeping a lookout for sails, islands or other noteworthy developments on the horizon. Erin's moods tend to lighten somewhat when aboard ship, cavorting with shipmates or in the midst of battle. In these situations, he is as likely to shout indecipherably into the seaspray, to laugh uproariously at a campanion's ribald comment or roar a battle challenge to a distant enemy... usually AFTER he has loosed a deadly shaft from atop the crowsnest.
Background: From the depths, he arose, but not without a heavy heart. Erin came from a village that was constantly threatened by merrow and sharks, yet when adventure had beckoned, he and his young friends had left without thought, only to return weeks later to find their homes in ruin, their families dead or missing. While Erin and his friends had managed to slay some of the attackers and rescue a few survivors, Erin's family (a mother, father and younger brother) has not been among them. Unable to bear the painful reminders in the watery depths, he had embarked on a crusade of self-discovery and retribution - retribution against the savage and evil menaces of the seas. Never again would he fail those that he committed to protect... and never again would he leave his heart open to such devastating loss and sadness. The deep-living peoples of the sea still, and will always, hold some of his loyalty, but it is to his new comrades in the world above that he has pledged his bow.
D&D is a game, but it's not just a game. It's the ultimate storyboard, a campfire to share with friends, an imaginary call to imaginary arms and a ship to sail to horizons yet undreamt of...
NAME:Nak (lizardfolk, iguana flavor) CLASS:Ranger --> Monster Hunter BACKGROUND:Pirate! The briny seas are lousy with lizardfolk and piracy is sunk deep in Nak's bones. He's had many a long night lashed to the rigging amid ripping winds, and longer days crisping in the broiling sun. He's the ideal crewman: at home in the water and devoid of the... less than savory pursuits that can strand a sailor landbound and with child. Nak has two great loves: fish (which can send the big iguana into a slavering frenzy), and hunting. It's the latter that gets him into the most trouble. While he can't understand the passions and tragic backstories that cling to adventurers he meets on the water, he can certainly appreciate a good, single-minded purpose. His calling is to destroy the monstrous beasts that threaten the waters of his home. Should he ever cross one's path abroad... well, all's fair game on the open seas. POSITION :Third mate (junior officer) and hunter - Fish gotta swim, Nak's gotta eat. YOUR TIME ZONE: CST YOUR D&D/PbPEXPERIENCE:I have limited (read: nonexistent) experience playing in-person. However, I've been playing on D&D Beyond for much of the past year! Additionally, I have been DM'ing a ridiculous and wonderful campaign titled "The Next Leap" that is near and dear to my heart (campaign link). YOURSELF: I am a solution advisor for an electronic health records company and a certified industrial ergonomic consultant / physical therapist. So many things! My typical work week is spent in a carousel of airplanes and hotel rooms, meaning I have a fair amount of time available for self care (e.g., storytelling a la D&D).
