(I was waiting to see how the rats reacted to get a sense of how soft they were...all good...)
Nicholas yelps and jumps back calling out "What the...Rats!" He flings his hand out and a droplet of water streaks toward a rat toward the center of the pack (not the one Lyle shot). As it does it elongates and hardens into a shard of ice, coming to a sharp point threatening to bury itself in a rat.
Movement: Back away from rats if I can
Action: Ice Knife. Trying to optimize hitting as many rats as possible without hitting Lyle.
Attack: 24 Damage: 2
"Hit or miss, the shard then explodes. The target and each creature within 5 feet of it must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC 13) or take 12 cold damage."

OCC: If your asking about re-rolls from my post, I use the wrong slash in the 1d2 (basically who got hit). I noticed the 13 HP, and see you have it set for manual. Did you roll for levels 2 and/or 3? But all isn't lost, its round 2 so everyone can pile on as soon as they roll initiative. And you have 3 death saves, even if you miss constitution checks.

I’m honestly not sure how it’s 13. I think I mistyped 12. We haven’t had a long rest, so we’re still at level 1, last I checked
I may have said that, but we have been at this so long I don't remember. Seems everyone else has, and I have adjusted the monsters accordingly :) So go ahead and roll your HP (or set to fixed)

OOC - The game takes place over the course of a day, so I think we've been hand-waving some of the rules.
About to investigate the rows of doors, the half-elf turns his head at the cry from Nicholas. "Rats? Well that doesn't surprise me to be honest, ideal place for them to breed down here." He begins to track back to see what the fuss is about, calling his sprite to his shoulder.

It’s hard for me to tell with these rolls re-rolling... could Lyle use [spell]shield[/shield] to block some of those hits?
Otherwise, Lyle is down for the count
